user friendly interface

Pros

Sage HRMS has a simple, user friendly interface and I didn't spend much time learning how to perform tasks.

Cons

It doesn't connect with other software, so I often enter the same information manually across multiple scheduling tools. I also wish there were a simple way to see how overtime hours are split among staff.

Repetitive data entry and struggles

Pros

It's very user friendly and self-explanatory, so I pick things up quickly.

Cons

There's a lot of repetitive data entry and creating custom reports is a real struggle.

Gets the job done smoothly

Pros

While not the best option out there, it gets the job done. The features are user friendly and integrate smoothly into most organizations. I especially like the employee management tools for setting and tracking goals.

Cons

I haven't faced any problems with the current version so far.

easy to use with direct connections

Pros

The system is easy to use and navigate and it even lets me connect directly to the medical insurance website.

Cons

One thing I noticed is that I cannot get accurate sick leave calculations because my employee category is different.

smooth implementation

Pros

What I like most is how easy it is to generate payroll reports. The HR module is approachable too. There was a learning curve at first but after some time navigating became much simpler. Implementation was also relatively smooth.

Cons

It still needs refinement. New releases often have bugs that aren't fixed until patches or rollbacks. The interface could be more welcoming to newcomers and I'd like to see separate versions for small and large businesses instead of a one-size-fits-all approach.

Easy to operate with smooth payroll

Pros

It is easy to operate, letting me oversee every aspect of my business. I especially like how smoothly the payroll integration works.

Cons

I often have to create many programs manually and new releases usually have glitches that linger until patched.

Simplest transition from old system

Pros

The shift from our old Sage Abra Suite was the simplest transition my team has experienced so far.

Cons

I have to use a dedicated computer login due to database security which has caused issues. Recently, a severe execution failure during payroll prevented processing time off and printing/post checks properly.

Clean hr module with many reports

Pros

We use the HR and Payroll modules for our in-house payroll. The HR side is clean, simple and user friendly. However the payroll side feels less user friendly and takes more effort and time. But on the bright side there are many out of the box reports and the built-in Crystal Reports makes creating custom reports relatively easy.

Cons

The payroll portion is extremely detailed and complex to configure. Settings often lack clear rationale, so I follow steps without understanding the reasoning. Switching from Abra took adjustment and rounding behavior isn't always conventional, so we sometimes hunt for penny differences to make totals match.

Weak core with failed implementation

Pros

We've grown to dislike virtually everything about this software. Despite years of trying, we never successfully implemented it. It doesn't perform the tasks we need and every use case requires significant extra spending for more features. The core functionality is so weak that we cannot justify paying for add-ons.

Cons

I had to use a third-party tool to transfer data from our SQL servers into Sage's PSQL databases and the process isn't automated like you'd expect from a modern product.

easy updates but poor support

Pros

I am glad it is built on SGL rather than our Sage 300 system. Installing updates and keeping it current is also easy and hassle-free.

Cons

Support is difficult to reach and pricing feels high for what we get.

Simple panels but missing reports

Pros

The HR panels remain unchanged and are very simple to navigate and switch between.

Cons

Several payroll reports that were standard in ABRA SUITE are missing in HRMS, with no clear reason. Attendance configuration has never worked properly since we installed it, reportedly due to our third-party implementation. I wish we had a dedicated contact for support. Having used Abra Suite since 1997, I used to recommend it but I wouldn't in its current state.

Excellent on-premises hr solution

Pros

It's an excellent on-premises HR and payroll solution for our company, delivering a lot of functionality at a very reasonable price.

Cons

Performance and stability are major problems. The app starts so slowly that users often click again and some screens crash. I suspect leftover FoxPro code is causing these issues.

Concise and helpful webinar overview

I joined a webinar on Crystal Reports today. It was a concise, simple overview that helped me a lot.

Cons

Basic and budget-friendly but outdated

It's basic and budget-friendly. I have seen it used at previous employers as well.

Cons

Promised integration but poor execution

Pros

What really sold me was the assurance that HRMS would integrate seamlessly with CRE which was a major benefit in choosing it.

Cons

It doesn't integrate well for our needs, support is slow and unhelpful at times and the training was long and dry.
