“Easy training and hiring use”

Pros

Their training program impressed me and I learned it fast. The software stays simple and I use it while hiring staff.

Cons

We didn't find the product lacking in features or difficult to learn and the interface and capabilities matched our needs. The real obstacle was internal preference despite my advocating for adopting this third-party recruiting platform my organization voted to keep recruitment in-house so we never implemented it into our hiring processes or day-to-day operations.

Techscreen makes it incredibly easy to screen candidates and quickly detect fake applicants before they ever reach our clients. I can run thorough checks, generate detailed reports in minutes and send them off without any back-and-forth hassle. It organizes the whole process and gives me confidence that I'm only moving forward with genuine, qualified people.

Cons

Sometimes I find it tricky to tell whether certain questions are really applicable to a specific role but when that happens we just show the client the questions we plan to ask and get their opinion before moving forward.

The software feels really easy to use and their training helped me get comfortable with it fast. Support has stayed consistently reliable and I genuinely trust the team to have my back whenever I need them.

Cons

For me the questions and answers come across as quite academic and they don't use the everyday, real-world language I would prefer.

To me personally key words stand out clearly and I focus on candidate answers easily. I review responses faster and I understand points quickly.

I've found that candidates often become confused by the wording and ask for further clarification so I end up having to come up with different ways to phrase the question. Also when I create my own questions there isn't an option to highlight my chosen keywords.

Not a con but I find that several of the questions are written with awkward or poor grammar which can be distracting.

Some of the phrasing can be unclear to applicants both in the prompts and the offered answer choices so candidates might be puzzled. Beyond that issue I still think it's a very dependable tool for technically assessing prospective hires and evaluating fit for roles and opportunities.

For me I'm unsure how accurately this platform evaluates a candidate's practical technical abilities, it's a decent product overall but it comes across as measuring academic knowledge rather than the hands-on skills people need in real work settings.

As someone who isn't a software developer I struggle to judge whether a candidate is actually qualified when they don't use the key highlighted terms, it's hard to know if a gap is just wording or a real skills issue. It would be really helpful if the tool showed years of experience next to the labels for beginning, intermediate and advanced because our job requests usually state a number of years and those don't always line up with the platform's 'avg' or 'advanced' tags. I'd also like the option to add more notes to a candidate's results after the interview is over, right now there's no way to go back and edit or append what I wrote. Finally separating Front End, Back End and Full Stack into distinct categories would make life easier since many roles need specific combinations and the current grouping blurs those distinctions.

I honestly don't have any negative comments about this software, it went beyond every expectation I had. The only drawback for me is wanting more team members to hire so I can continue using it to its full potential.

At first it felt a bit tricky to navigate but after clicking around and going through a few trial-and-error attempts I found it much more feasible and easier to understand than I initially expected.

Although the app lists a fair number of technologies I still noticed many important ones missing that should be added. Also the 'Create your own test' workflow threw me off a bit at first, it took a couple of tries before I felt comfortable using it and fully understanding how to build custom assessments.

Customization stays strong and I select tech stacks early. I also start screening with few clicks.

My only real issue is that some of the interview questions feel overly textbook. From my experience, many talented developers are excellent at building things day-to-day but stumble when pushed to explain certain fundamentals in depth, simply because they haven't been asked to articulate those concepts recently (for example, explaining a TreeMap in Java). That doesn't mean they can't do the job, it's just different to be quizzed on theory rather than shown real-world problem solving.

I wish it included more coding challenges because adding code snippets would allow me to assess candidates more effectively during screening.

I've noticed the express tests feel a bit too basic, I'd really like to see more challenging screens focused on advanced Java and JavaScript.
