flexible ordering with live item display

Pros

I really like how flexible the ordering system is as it adapts easily to however I need to work. The screen shows every item I sell as it happens which keeps me fully aware of what's moving in real time. No delays, no guessing, just instant visibility into my sales. It makes staying on top of everything feel effortless.

Cons

Honestly I can't find anything to complain about at the moment.

simple and reliable

Pros

What I like most about Toast is how easy it is to use and how reliable it is during busy shifts. Plus it combines orders, payments and reports in one place making daily work much smoother. I also like the customer support and regular updates and the system grows well with the business.

Cons

I don't have any complaints.

Helps track hours, payroll and sales

Pros

Toast helps me track employee hours, run payroll and see which menu items sell well and which do not. It also gives me a clear picture of what's happening in my business. And I like that it links directly to my website so no manual entry and setup was quick and easy.

Cons

One thing I do not like is that it only works with its own hardware and payment system. That lock-in feels too limiting and makes me worry about flexibility in the future.

Relies on labor and sales reports

Pros

We rely on the Labor Summary and Sales Summary reports along with the day by day account view which together let us manage payroll smoothly across our various business entities.

Cons

Often I notice that payroll reports do not line up with the payments allocated to each employee which causes reconciliation headaches.

easy for new staff, offline mode reliable

Pros

Toast is easy for new staff to learn. Plus guests can pay right at the table with a card or phone which speeds things up. I also really like the offline mode as it still works if the internet goes down, so we can keep taking orders and payments. That reliability gives me peace of mind. Setup was easy too and connecting the tablet and printer was quick and simple.

Cons

I don't like how updates arrive so often without warning and end up altering features we had already grown comfortable with. It would help if update communications were concise and to the point rather than buried in lengthy documents when changes are rolled out.

everything organized in one place

Pros

It is user friendly and easy to use. Plus it keeps reward points and everything organized in one place, logs past orders and gives a clear snapshot of the menu. The checkout details are very comprehensive, so I do not run into unexpected fees and there is a space to leave feedback about the service. My initial setup went smoothly too, following clear step by step instructions.

Cons

Well I do not have any cons to share as it is simply the best.

simple setup for new rewards programs

Pros

The software is really easy to set up and it makes it simple for new restaurants like mine to pilot their rewards programs.

Cons

Every so often I forget which credit card I used and when I end up paying with a different one the purchase doesn't earn any points. So I wish there was a simpler option so I could still collect rewards even if I'm using another card at checkout.

Loves card recognition and auto receipts

Pros

As a customer what I love most about Toast is that it recognizes my card and emails me a receipt automatically. It also saves my info, so when a mer chant uses it, checkout is fast means I don't need to pull out my card every time.

Cons

Because I am only a customer I don't have enough insight into its backend to point out any negatives but I really enjoy when restaurants choose to use this tool.

Simple setup, transaction fees too high

Pros

Personally I like how simple Toast is and that the initial setup was easy.

Cons

I am bothered because the transaction fees it too high. I mean I'd prefer a simple flat per-transaction rate or a fixed monthly charge especially considering I also have to buy the card reader hardware myself.

annoyed by payment fees and expensive hardware

Pros

The interface is easy to use and tools like handheld ordering really help our daily service run more smoothly.

Cons

What annoys me the most is the required payment processing fees and expensive hardware as they make the system cost a lot more.

customizable and give non-intrusive alerts

Pros

Toast is lightweight and easy to use. Plus small alerts pop up in the corner without blocking my screen so I stay focused. Notifications are instant too means I know right away if an action worked which reduces uncertainty. I can also customize what shows, how long it stays and where it appears. That flexibility makes it efficient and keeps alerts helpful, not distracting.

Cons

Its alerts only show information and you cannot act on them. For example if a message says something failed, I cannot fix it from the alert. I have to go back to the main screen which breaks my workflow.

Takes chaos out of food-service operations

Pros

What I really like is how Toast takes the chaos out of running a food-service business. As its all in one set of tools covers the many moving parts of a restaurant's daily operations, helping me manage everything from order entry to staff tasks. The integrated platform makes order taking, payment handling and even inventory tracking feel much more easy than piecing systems together. I also lean on the reporting features for useful insights that guide better decision-making. All in all, I value its focus on improving efficiency and the overall customer experience.

Cons

The hardware is reliable but you are forced to use its own brand. I mean you cannot mix in cheaper third-party devices. And if something breaks or I need more terminals, I have to pay their prices. So I wish I had more flexibility to choose lower-cost options.

Pretty good for POS, helped increase tips

Pros

For food rewards, I rely on Toast. It's super simple to use and back when I was bartending it served as a very simple POS. I appreciated how quickly I could pull up a customer's bill and how user friendly the layout made locating items. As that freed me to spend more time interacting with patrons which definitely helped me increase my tips.

Cons

I have no complaints.

Simple pick-up orders with real-time progress

Pros

It is really simple to put in pick-up orders and follow the progress of my order every step of the way.

Cons

Sometimes I wish the interface offered more ways to categorize menu items such as being able to sort or filter dishes by price.

easy, fast, useful modifier feature

Pros

I really like how easy Toast is to use. Also it is fast even with large reports and helps me quickly see top-selling items and track sales and payment trends. The modifier feature is useful too as I use it for bar orders and ice cream add-ons. Setup was simple and it is easy to maintain after that.

Cons

Some reports do not give me what I need. Plus I want more control over fields and filters for sorting data. And though there are many report options but when I try to look at big-picture business data, the reporting tools fall short.

Handheld POS is very easy to use

Pros

The Toast handheld POS is very easy to use. Ticketing is also fast and accurate and it saves a lot on paper and ink. The best thing is that guests and staff learn it quickly. Plus setup was simple and I'd rate it 10/10 without hesitation. Moreover I also like that receipts can be emailed, printed or texted.

Cons

That said the only area I'd like to see improved is how it handles tabs and the storage or retrieval of individual receipts. For now those features seem a bit weak.

Lets stores save details, smooth checkout

Pros

so many restaurants use Toast because it lets store details and quickly log back in to place pickup orders. I also value how it simplifies handling payments when I order food online making checkout much smoother.

Cons

Honestly I'd love to see more restaurants added to it as it would make my experience much better and more convenient.

makes ordering easy

Pros

I have been using Toast all the time to place orders at restaurants and it really makes ordering food so easy as I can browse the menu, keep a running tab open and pay without having to wait for a server. Because so many places use this tool, I'm already comfortable and confident navigating it and that consistency makes the whole experience smooth. Plus being able to leave a tab open in particular is something I find extremely useful and convenient when dining out.

Cons

To be honest I can't think of any drawbacks.
