Easy to use and incredibly helpful, CaseMap shines.

Pros

What I loved most about this software was how easy it is to use. I've had new users pick it up in just a few minutes, which is a huge plus!

Cons

What I liked didn't about this software was that it felt almost too simplified. I think there could be more content added to make it more functional. We mainly used it for sharing timelines of case evolution but I feel like it could do a lot more.

CaseMap is the tool that sharpens your legal skills

Pros

I have been using this software for about 20 years in my practice at Underwood Law Office. The way it organizes the facts of a case is unmatched. You can access even the tiniest details from day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute and even second by second. Using this software really helps me see how all the pieces of a case puzzle fit together.

Cons

It really needs a cloud-based, multi-user version to make things easier for everyone involved.

The features are great once you figure out where they are.

Pros

I thought this software would help me organize materials for a court case and link evidence to specific witnesses and issues. While it's supposed to do that, I couldn't get it to work as expected.

Cons

(1) When you try to use the program, you need to enter names but the software insists on creating nicknames for everyone and each role gets its own separate nickname. I get why this might make sense to a software engineer but as a lawyer, it just doesn't work. (2) The commands are scattered all over the place. I wanted to add a document, but none of the icons at the top let me do that. I called customer support and they walked me through a confusing process to add a bunch of documents at once. It might've required me to buy a separate component but I wasn't sure. When I tried to do it myself, I couldn't figure it out. (3) I also spent a ton of time trying to figure out how to add just one document. There should be an easy button for that, I had to go back a screen and find it through a side menu. Why the inconsistency? (4) Eventually I realized I'd have to invest a lot of time in training just to get comfortable with this clunky program.

A great asset for law firms

Pros

This is an awesome database program especially for law offices. Whether we're working on a big case or just need to PDF emails in bulk, it works like a charm! It makes Bates numbering super easy and allows for quick searches when you import documents. You can set different criteria, sort by multiple terms and designate key documents. plus with the plug-ins, it's simple to import files directly from the document or bulk import a bunch of documents at once.

Cons

There's some coding you need to do when importing documents (although some things are coded automatically by the software). It's not a huge deal for me since the software is so user-specific but one thing that could be tricky is if you rename or move an imported document, the link breaks in CaseMap. Thankfully, there are ways to work around that.

Needed a tool to manage a huge volume of documents.

Pros

It's easy to navigate, see documents and upload/export files. It would probably be fine for smaller, less paper heavy cases but I had a little trouble with more complex ones.

Cons

Its functionality wasn't what we needed. We were told it would do everything we needed, but it couldn't even search our documents.

CaseMap isn't worth the investment

Pros

It was great when it was a desktop version but once it went cloud-based, it became terrible.

Cons

It's difficult to learn and use. It's super time taking and way too expensive. To top it off, we had a data storage issue where they lost all the data for an entire case and couldn't recover it.

Extremely disappointing experience

Pros

The best part was not needing an internet connection to access case information. That's crucial when you're in a courtroom with no internet access.

Cons

This was slow and blocky. The bigger the case, the worse it performed. Eventually I had to give up on it because it just couldn't handle it.

The integration with other LexisNexis products, like LAW, is a huge bonus.

The price model for this software is pretty steep.

Yet another outstanding product by LexisNexis

Pros

Being able to add every little detail to a case is so helpful for keeping everything organized. It reduces the risk of missing or forgetting something important. It's an excellent tool for organizing and brainstorming.

Cons

It would be so much better if it had web based access, allowing everyone involved to access it easily.

Great for planning your litigation strategy

Pros

It has some really good organization features, it's as simple as that.

Cons

Sometimes, the document and issue cross-linking feels a bit cumbersome. You really have to figure out the best way to make it work for you.

Excellent software for trial preparation needs

Pros

This software makes organizing all the facts, people, documents and events so much easier, so you're better prepared for trial. Everything's in one place instead of scattered across multiple folders and notebooks.

Cons

Analyzing data and documents takes time, as it always does. But honestly, the speed at which you can react during a trial is incredible compared to the old paper-and-sticky-note method.

Looks like a quality option for a specialized market

Pros

The software seems pretty foolproof and the staff who use it are happy with it. They use it to build timelines for cases and then share them for case reviews, which makes collaboration much easier.

Cons

My biggest complaint is that the software is pretty locked down. You can only access and edit it through the PC-based app. Users have been asking for a web-based alternative or at least something we can easily view on phones or iPads.

A superb tool for trial and document management

Pros

It is userfriendly (even an attorney can figure it out!). It's a great help for organizing trial exhibits so they're easy to access and present to a jury.

Cons

Honestly, I can't think of a single con for the software. It works great for me!

Organize your case using this tool

Pros

It helps you organize information and data, map out issues and facts, track tasks and completion dates and sync issues with deposition transcripts to keep everything together.

Cons

There's no web-based solution and it's starting to feel a bit outdated, even though it's still reliable.

Strongly suggest it for legal cases

Pros

This product is powerful. For big cases, it's a fantastic tool to track facts, people involved, timelines and more. It even lets you create visuals to show how everything, who, what and when, is connected. I love how you can tag key pieces of information or people and easily search and sort by them.

Cons

The price is a bit high but if you use it regularly, it's worth it. The tutorials weren't great, so it took a little digging around to figure out the full potential of the product but with some patience, I eventually got the hang of it.

A simple electronic case management tool designed for lawyers

Pros

Being able to add issues, people, documents and other relevant information to a case is amazing. The best part is linking all this info together, which is priceless for managing cases as a team.

Cons

There are way too many random errors that you have to call support about. It seems like Lexis might be getting ready to cancel the product or sell it to someone else. They used to have dedicated support, but now you have to call an 800 number and wade through multiple menus before you can talk to anyone.
