“Lets me save documents directly”
Pros
The software really simplifies my work. It comes with very useful features especially the ability to connect with email accounts and save documents directly which makes managing everything much more convenient.
Cons
The price is on the higher side although I still feel it's worth paying for. There are also a few things that could be improved, like the way calendar entries are set up.

“Happy with our decision”
Pros
More than ten years ago, we chose Clio as our cloud-based solution for law practice management, time tracking and invoicing because it was the strongest option available at the time. That decision has definitely paid off and we've been happy with it as the platform's features and functionality have continued to improve year after year.
Cons
Document and email management have come a long way since we first started using Clio over a decade ago but there's still room to make those areas feel more smooth and more powerful.

This program is very user-friendly and helps our firm handle every part of a case, from entering new client information to tracking case work, monitoring case status and managing the calendar while also notifying clients about upcoming hearings.

I haven't run into any issues so far.

“Billing transformed with clio”
Pros
Billing clients looks completely different for us now thanks to Clio. It's very user-friendly and connects well with all the other tools and systems we already rely on.
Cons
Reporting is still pretty far from what our firm and our clients actually need. None of the available reports give us the full picture and they also don't pull in my custom fields. Because of that, I end up exporting everything to Excel to build every report myself which gets frustrating. Still, I'm hopeful Clio's reporting will become much more powerful over time. Some of the billing functionality is also not ideal for our setup. We're a high-volume immigration firm and about 95% of our billing is flat fee, while Clio seems much better suited for hourly billing and time tracking. That said it's still possible to create workarounds without too much trouble. I just hope the development team eventually improves this area and makes the process a lot simpler for us.

“Modern feel with powerful integrations”
Pros
Compared with a lot of older case management tools, this one feels much more modern and user-friendly. The integrations are a big plus and it's probably the closest any case management software has come to feeling like a Mac product in terms of usability.
Cons
I'm hoping Clio keeps improving Clio Grow so it works more closely with Clio Manage and makes the handoff between the two more smooth. We've been running into quite a few kinks while using Clio Grow that don't come up in Clio Manage. As mentioned before, I'm still not a fan of Clio Documents. I'd also love to see more specific user-level functions although that may just be a personal preference from someone using it every day.

“App allows me to take notes and track time”
Pros
Being able to use the app while I'm out visiting elderly clients has been a huge help. It lets me record notes, track time and pull up client information wherever I am. Since I'm often on the go, having a mobile app makes it much easier to enter time and money right away instead of waiting until later. The text messaging feature is also something I really appreciate.
Cons
Something I still need quite often is a way to track my mileage and unfortunately there isn't a convenient integration for that.

“Approachable platform”
Pros
From day one, it has covered everything I needed from a case management platform. It gives me document templates, reporting, automated billing and a global search feature which are all essential for the way we work. The platform is approachable, user-friendly, cloud-based and it has truly become a key part of our day-to-day practice.
Cons
I appreciate that they are always working on improvements and adding new capabilities but when a new feature gets introduced without any notice, it can disrupt the workflows we already have in place.

“Keeps me productive”
Pros
The timekeeping tools, goal tracking, daily review and the ability to set personal daily, monthly and yearly targets have completely changed the way I run my practice. It has truly revolutionized how I stay organized and productive.
Cons
A few people on my team have struggled with saving emails and signing in to use the plug-in. Since they are not very tech-savvy, helping them through it can sometimes take up part of my day.

“Fantastic formatted templates”
Pros
Using this platform has made client and matter management feel much more smooth for our firm. The interface is simple and the formatted templates are simple to work with. Integrations with tools like Dropbox and Google Calendar have also made it much easier to stay on top of tracking, document creation and overall client management.
Cons
Like most new software, it comes with a fairly steep learning curve at the beginning. Clio has helped with integrating some case information but setting up templates, custom fields and similar features has continued to be an ongoing project. I'd also really like more flexibility in how client names can be customized, such as for couples with different last names. It would also help to have a simpler way to duplicate billed time across two matters with the same details and the option to add upcoming court or meeting dates directly in the notes section instead of entering them separately.

“outlook add-in needs work”
Pros
Overall it does the job well enough and most of the features seem thoughtfully designed.
Cons
The biggest frustration with Clio is its Outlook Add-In. It regularly stops working and throws messages like "error connecting to your Microsoft Account" or other random errors. To get it going again, I end up clicking through several different pages and emails until it finally starts working. When I contacted support, they suggested it was likely because I use the desktop version of Outlook instead of the online one. That's frustrating because I don't care for Outlook online and I'd expect Clio to invest in making the add-in function properly with the desktop version too. If they've intentionally chosen not to put resources into supporting Outlook desktop, that's pretty disappointing.

“Useful calendar date notifications”
Pros
The automatic invoice and calendar date notifications sent to clients are really helpful and work wonderfully.
Cons
One ongoing frustration is with clients who change their email addresses often. We can update the email in our system but if an invoice or calendar notice was already sent to an old address, we can't correct that ourselves and the client has to do it. Unfortunately, none of our clients have actually been able to update it through their Clio portal which has been frustrating for everyone involved. I even spent an hour or more on the phone with tech support and they still couldn't fix the problem. There really should be a way for us to update that information directly.
