cooperative support staff

Pros

Keeping all my case information organized in Clio has been really convenient and the system is simple to use. Their customer support has also been consistently helpful.

Cons

One thing that's missing is better text formatting in Notes, like being able to bold, italicize, underline and use similar editing options.

Free support

Pros

One of the best parts is the unlimited free support and training. The team is always open to hearing customer feedback and willing to listen to what users need.

Cons

Solutions take too long to be implemented and there doesn't seem to be much accountability when it comes to feature requests.

Love the invoicing part

Pros

The invoicing has been the biggest win for us. We're convinced it helped us recover payment on a lot of files that used to slip through the cracks and never get billed properly. Being able to send invoices online and accept payments online has made a real difference. Creating a bill is fast, simple and our staff even says it's fun to use.

Cons

We did look at moving our document storage into Clio but it didn't work well with the folder structure we already use since we couldn't preset files that way. Attaching documents to emails also felt more complex than we expected so we decided not to switch over. One thing I'd also really like is for emails sent from Clio to save automatically to the related Clio file.

Our legal tech hub

Pros

Clio has become the center of our legal tech setup, with integrations across pretty much every major legal technology we use. It really acts as the hub while the rest of the tools connect around it. I also genuinely enjoy the user community and Cliocon. I keep checking to see whether competing products have improved enough to make switching worthwhile and at this point they still haven't.

Cons

No legal CRM gets everything right and Clio is still more of the least-bad option than a perfect one. Lately though, it feels like the company is focusing more on upselling. There hasn't been much meaningful improvement to the core Clio product for standard users, while most of the newer features seem to be positioned as add-ons in an effort to raise revenue per user. On Windows, you also really need Fasterlaw to get the most value out of Clio.

critical to our operations

Pros

We've built our firm's lean workflows around it and it's become the backbone of how we operate. Running the practice is much more efficient and takes a lot less time than with traditional tools, while also requiring less staff training and effort to keep everything consistent.

Cons

One thing I'd really like is the ability to save emails from Outlook for iOS straight into matter files. At the moment, I still have to do that part from a desktop or laptop.

Packed with features

Pros

Right from the start, it feels very user friendly and includes all the tools a firm needs to handle daily tasks, invoicing, document storage and more.

Cons

Clio can get fairly expensive for larger firms especially when multiple users are needed and the pricing is charged per user.

Fast and easy

Pros

It's quick to use and all the tools we need are together in one place.

Cons

One thing that's missing is a way to send a single document that works as both an invoice and a trust request so clients can clearly see where their money was used and how much they need to send to replenish their trust.

complete client access anywhere

Pros

Its been really practical because it lets you access client files and calendar details wherever you are. At the same time, you can stay in touch with clients and keep up with your tasks without missing a beat.

Cons

Cant mention any downsides. It feels like a very complete app that saves both time and money and it's user-friendly for just about anyone using it.

Perfect balance between usability and effectiveness

Pros

Bringing Clio Manage and Clio Grow together, Clio delivers an unmatched combination of usability and effectiveness and it really works like a dependable legal assistant.

Cons

The extra cost charged for each additional team member can be a bit discouraging for smaller firms.

Simple to manage

Pros

It is fairly simple to handle and it's an excellent way to make sure there aren't any conflicts of interest.

Cons

There still isn't enough training on Clio for handling certain tasks and I really wish the platform included its own how-to section.

Unclear billing policy

Pros

Once everything was finally set up, the user experience was fair enough. Getting to that point was complicated though. The sales pitch sounded polished and convincing at first but after running into an issue that was never resolved in a satisfactory way, it became clear to me that it was not genuine. Billing also turned into a serious problem.

Cons

The billing policy was unclear and even after being overcharged, no refund was given. Customer support came across as patronizing and untrustworthy. Beware!

Well-structured interface

Pros

Found it easy to use. The interface is well-organized and it doesn't take long to learn. It's especially helpful for people who are new to the legal field because the website doesn't feel overwhelming to use. Really solid software.

Cons

Honestly there's very little I dislike about Clio.

Pros

Its very convenient to use and it offers a strong mix of integrations along with a wide range of features. It covers a lot of functionality in one place and delivers good value for the price.

Cons

One thing missing is built-in document templates and legal forms and there are also a lot of add-ons to sort through.

Overpromised and overpriced

Pros

The website and sales team made Clio sound like it would deliver everything it promised.

Cons

In reality, it doesn't integrate with accounting software at all like they said it would which leaves it feeling like an overpriced file management system.

Friendly interface

Pros

It feels very user-friendly to use, with a friendly interface that makes the web-based live platform pleasant to work in. It runs quickly and feels very responsive throughout.

Cons

It is a very capable system and I appreciate that it lets you add custom fields to track specific KPIs. That said pulling that information into reports or extracting the data is not nearly as simple as it should be.

cliocon 23 was worth every minute

Pros

ClioCon23 was genuinely impressive and absolutely worth the time. Attending for the first time, I was really struck by how many current users were there, all looking for new ways to use more features to improve client outcomes, strengthen operations and boost profitability. I even spoke with an attorney who uses a competing platform but came because of the thought leadership sessions and practical best-practice discussions. The overall atmosphere made authentic networking feel natural and I'm already looking forward to next year in Austin.

Cons

I'd love to see future releases include more powerful reporting and analytics.
