Cons
We're so grateful to the team for smoothly integrating a ton of data from our old software. They were open to feedback and made customizations that made the software more relevant to our business and easier for our staff to use.

Pros
The program seemed helpful at first, but once I signed up, I was disappointed with the customer service.
Cons
Customer service responded quickly, but I had trouble adjusting to the software, and I felt frustrated with the administration. In the end, I canceled my subscription, and I was told that the $500 wasn't refundable.

“Improved our operations
Pros
Case management and printed contracts were the biggest operational improvements we saw. Our goal was to get the entire staff on the same page with our statements of goods and services, and Halcyon really helped us clean that up. The integrations with ASD and Matthews-Aurora were great, especially since they're already partners with us, it made everything easier. We also moved our credit card processing to Halcyon's integrated partner, which was a smooth transition from our old terminal. All transactions automatically post to the account, which saves us time on data entry for purchases and payments.
Cons
The hardest part when onboarding is wrapping your head around the software's complexity. It can be overwhelming to think of all the features you could use and how it might affect your business. My advice would be to prioritize your top goals when starting out and focus on a few key things first. You can always explore more features later.

“Great case tracking tool
Pros
The case tracking features are definitely what I appreciate most. Through Halcyon, we offer the highest level of security for our cremation services. We assign QR codes to each case and each step in the cremation process, allowing us to confirm exactly where each case is and maintain total control until it's safely released to the family or another funeral home. The invoicing, financial accounting, and document archiving features are also huge assets.
Cons
Like with any new technology or software, there's a learning curve. We invested time and energy into understanding how Halcyon could best support our business. Their support team has been amazing and really helped us learn the system. This tool is a complete death-care management system. We were looking for a way to manage our cremation intake and processing while increasing security in the services we offer. It has exceeded our expectations at every level. The time spent learning it was definitely a great investment.

“Fantastic tracking system
Pros
I love how easy it is to use and the fact that we can customize things on our end. The set-up and transition process was really simple, and Halcyon's support was amazing throughout. They respond within a day and are great at finding ways to customize the software to meet our needs. The partner portal is awesome, and I love that we can adjust things for each clinic. The tracking system is fantastic, and Halcyon worked with us to make sure it was customized to our process.
Cons
For merchandising, I'd prefer a drop-down menu instead of the current list format. Price groups are difficult to adjust and it would be helpful if a standardized urn could auto-populate for each clinic. Additionally, the tracking/tag form could be better optimized for printing.

“seamless setup but could use more integrations
Pros
The ease of use and set-up is huge for my team. We were able to get everything up and running quickly, with only a few minor technical hiccups. The team was really fair and responsive to our requests, and they continue to be. This tool does exactly what it says it will without all the unnecessary extras, which is exactly what I need. After using another cloud-based solution, I can't imagine not using Halcyon for my business now.
Cons
There are a few things that would be helpful. For example, the ability to enter pre-need payments without needing an account number would be huge for my business. It would also help if we could manually edit some pre-filled information in certain forms (CFF in particular). It would be nice if the charitable donations were listed, so we don't have to re-enter the same charity every time. Also, Social Security numbers could auto-format. I'd love to see integrations with aftercare.com and Ring Ring Marketing for their review tool.

“simple layout and cloud access
Pros
I really like the simplicity of the screen layout and how data is organized. Being able to create custom forms that automatically include data from the case record makes us look very professional. Having everything cloud-based makes it easy to access everything from my iPhone or iPad, no matter where I am in the world.
Cons
Honestly, I can't think of anything that could be improved. Whenever we find a �bug� or something that could be better, we just submit a help ticket and Halcyon gets to work on it and fixes it within days.

“Reasonable price and great customer service
Pros
They integrated directly with our website and casket distributor and it was the most reasonably priced option out of the seven companies we were considering. All our forms can be uploaded to auto-fill names, dates, etc. Of course, there have been a few bumps, but customer service has always been quick to respond and helpful.
Cons
I wish it could integrate with Google Calendar and have an app more focused on the funeral side of things, not just cremation. But those are tiny things compared to how well this program works.

“Helpful for 300 cases yearly
Pros
As a funeral home handling about 300 families a year, having each deceased person's own computer file is so helpful. The file contains all the family's background, contract, and payment information, and it's great to have everything right at our fingertips. As the office manager, I find the financial section to be really user-friendly and the software is also great at helping us gather report data.
Cons
We are a funeral home with two locations so we have two separate client numbering systems but only one Halcyon platform. There's an issue where the next contract number always comes from the last one entered, no matter which location you select. We have to manually keep track and change the number ourselves. Another issue is with the financial section. When entering a check to be written from a client account (like cash advances), it takes forever to populate the client name and the cash advances to choose from. Lastly, sending out statements to our families is a concern. A statement and a contract summary are different. If a family has �add-ons,� those don't get added to the balance if you're sending a late statement. With a statement, you have to print every financial item for that family, whereas a contract summary shows everything. You really need to stay on top of things to ensure the balance is correct.

“easy to use, with great support and flexibility
Pros
The user interface and web-based software make it super easy for our team to manage client families, both inside and outside the funeral home. We can spend more time with our own families and still manage work remotely from anywhere. This software has really helped with our Customer Relationship Management and has saved us time on printing documents, programs, and other custom forms. Plus, having direct contact with programmers, customer service, and admin is something you won't get with big software companies. We get detailed support and have a chance to influence how the software evolves by working closely with the owners, developers, and designers.
Cons
Being a small shop means new updates can come a little slower compared to the big software companies, but the flexibility and influence we have on the software's direction are definitely worth the wait. This is, hands down, the best software out there!

“User-friendly navigation

There are a lot of things I like about this software but what I really love is how easy it is to navigate. It's very user-friendly and works for so many different aspects of how we need to use it.
Cons
We're new to this software and just opened our crematory, so there are some quirks to adjust and tweak. The monthly billing wasn't set up the way we wanted to send statements and we needed a few reports we couldn't generate ourselves. But the customer service has been amazing! Whenever we explain what we need, they're always happy to go above and beyond to create what we need and make it work. The team is fantastic and helps make an already great software even better to suit our needs.

“Professional forms and easy for newbies

It's simple to get hang of and looks professional. It creates professional forms and it's easy to train new employees to use Halcyon.
Cons
We need to be careful about updating frequently because it can log us out. If we leave the computer to go to the selection room and come back, depending on the family's time for selection, the info already entered may be lost after the update. We also miss the feature where the death certificate total disappears after entering the number selected. We'd love that feature back.

“Great monthly reports

One of the standout features is how simple it is to use and customize according to our business needs
Cons
Since switching to Firefox, most of the minor issues have gone away. However, we can't change check numbers. If someone's using a check for purchases, we need to wait for their return to pay bills, but I understand this is a security feature to ensure the check amount isn't forgotten. I plan to add the check with an estimate to keep working.
