“powerful tool for legal work

Pros

Lawmaster covers most of the tasks we handle every day which makes it really useful as an all-in-one system. Compared with other options, the functionality is impressive too and the platform is decent while still offering a lot of customization. It's clear the developers considered how a lawyer actually works in practice and that was something we felt was missing from other products we looked at.

Cons

Building templates and workflows isn't very easy so we regularly need help with that part. We'd also like to see more integrations with other tools or content and the mobile app could definitely use some improvement.

Having a single platform to learn and rely on, with other products already integrated, has been genuinely helpful for our team.

Cons

I don't think we are aware of many of the features or useful tips so I'm not convinced we're using it to its full potential. The parts we have used most effectively for our business are building mini workflows and setting naming conventions to keep things consistent across the board. Lately though no one from the team has really reached out to show us what has improved or how other firms are using certain features to their advantage.

“Offers the best support

Pros

As an accounts manager this system is designed to keep my day to day work as organized as possible. Plus being able to pull up trust records and debtor history from each file in just a few clicks is excellent for those quick checks throughout the day.

Cons

There is definitely a lot to learn at first but the training courses and helpdesk are outstanding.

“better than our last system

Pros

Our practice manager feels this software is the best and from what we can tell, it seems to be an improvement over the practice management system we used before.

Cons

One problem is that it does not handle debt collection even though we were told that it would.

“Perfect fit for legal firms

Pros

Having everything in one program is a real plus especially with Accounting, Payroll and the specific features and requirements a legal firm needs all built into the same system.

Cons

The Accounting and Payroll side is quite basic and I wouldn't consider it very user friendly.

Overall it is very easy to use and the multi-window setup works really well. Entering accounting data is excellent and overall the program is very simple to use.

Cons

One downside is that it lets you overdraw the trust account. It would be much better if, when finalizing a bill, the system stopped you from allocating more money than is actually being held for that matter. The payroll module also does not manage paid parental leave particularly well so sometimes journals have to be done manually in the background to correct things. And I feel lik eit could also be much clearer about how processes work behind the scenes. When something goes wrong, it's frustrating having to figure out how to fix it yourself. So more detailed help notes instead of just basic explanations would really improve it.

“Practical and user-friendly tool

Pros

The software is user friendly and well laid out. It's also easy to work with and transferring, moving, creating a new version or shifting a document to another matter number is simple enough to do without confusion.

Cons

Honestly after you get the basics down, it's hard to point to any real downside. As it handles a wide range of functions and once you understand how it works, those features feel logical and user friendly.
