Pros
Time entry system makes billing incredibly easy. I appreciate how everything's laid out, tracking fees, hours and client details feels simple. This covers pretty much everything I need as a lawyer in one place. Those ledgers are fantastic for monitoring completed work and handling payments or writing checks is surprisingly smooth.
Cons
Interface feels pretty outdated to me and they could really use a modern redesign. Some text is quite small to read, though I can customize most settings to fit my preferences.

“Great reporting but limited to Windows desktop”
Pros
The reporting features are fantastic for me and having budget tools alongside AP/AR monitoring makes everything so much easier. Being able to track all timekeepers and see originations from attorneys is really valuable. What I appreciate most is how it integrates easily with accounting, no need for seperate software to manage everything.
Cons
Being limited to Windows desktop is the only frustration for me, there's no cloud version or iOS support. After using this for over 20 years, we finally had to switch because our company moved entirely to Apple computers and this just wouldn't work for us anymore.

Pros
I couldn't find much to appreciate about this software. The interface was clunky and hard to navigate, making simple tasks feel unnecessarily complicated. Compared to other solutions we've tried, it just didn't measure up in terms of usability or functionality.
Cons
Navigation feels clunky and finding documents or info I need is a real issue. The interface isn't simple at all which makes everyday tasks way more difficult than they should be. Program freezes up on me regularly and some tabs just stop responding completely. Honestly, I wouldn't suggest this to anyone, there are definitely better options out there.

At times it showed some reliability for my team but honestly that wasn't consistent enough to call it a real strength.

Pros
I used this program for years and found it quite reliable. Logging time was easy and it did a great job tracking my files and deadlines. The billing feature generated clean, professional looking invoices that were easy to read.
Cons
The pricing model shift really hurt, moving to that annual subscription made it way too pricey for my needs and they basically killed off my old version in the process. I wish there was still a solo option available.

Can't really think of any positives after going through that upgrade nightmare which is really frustrating for me.
Cons
Getting through to tech support is a nightmare, I've waited 2-4 hours on hold multiple times. When I finally connected with overseas support, they disconnected me twice and never bothered calling back which meant starting over at the back of a 20 person queue. My sales rep didn't even know that only certain PCLaw versions could upgrade depending on your database setup, so my upgrade to the full version never happened. Even there feedback link doesn't work properly. It's unrealistic to expect business professionals to waste entire afternoons waiting on hold like this.

The accounting features work really well for our needs and the timekeeping system gets the job done for me.
Cons
The system feels really clunky and I noticed sometimes it gets laggy when dealing with large databases. It constantly disconnects from the server overnight during backups which is frustrating. The interface runs slow and there's hardly any automation to help simplify tasks. The bills it creates are so confusing that clients always call asking what they even mean, I end up having to write summaries in Word to clarify everything. Fixing spelling mistakes in disbursement entries takes forever because the process is so sluggish. If I accidentally enter the wrong hourly rate for legal aid or discounted files, I have to manually change every single entry which is painfully slow. Can't even create custom forms without getting admin privileges from the firm. It's been incredibly difficult to do simple things like removing a "total tax" line from bill templates, especially when that line only shows GST instead of the combined GST and PST amounts.

After six years, I'm finally moving on to something that actually functions properly! The one genuinely good thing I can say is that it runs locally instead of being cloud based which I appreciate.
Cons
Crashes happen way too often for me and honestly the interface looks like it was thrown together by someone who's never designed software before. Windows don't fit properly buttons are all over the place, it's just a mess to look at. Even when I finally get to where I need to be, I still can't do everything from one screen. Want to check phone messages? Well, don't click on "phone messages" because that won't actually work. I have to jump around to different screens just to do basic tasks. It's incredibly frustrating and poorly thought out.
