Pros

It has saved us so much time! there's no more queuing in court and you can apply evidence at any time, even at night. You can also file appeals before midnight, which makes the process so much more flexible and efficient.

Cons

There are times when the software crashes, which causes cases to be postponed. It definitely needs some strengthening. In courts outside Kigali, the internet connection can be really poor and lawyers end up wasting time waiting for the system to work.

Pros

The Lesotho Case Management System, developed by Synergy International Systems, is currently in use at three sites: High Court, Commercial Court and Magistrate Court in Maseru. The system aligns perfectly with the Lesotho Judiciary's needs and requirements. Since its introduction, management has been able to make informed decisions, thanks to the system's ability to create customized reports in various formats like bar charts, pie charts and more. It's user-friendly and has significantly improved case management, tracking and file handling. The workflow is now more systematic, speeding up case processing, increasing efficiency and improving staff effectiveness. Our clients are also more satisfied with our service delivery since the system's implementation and work distribution is now fairer, as the system automatically allocates cases to judicial officers, eliminating bias from the past manual process. We've received excellent training and post-implementation support, making it easy to get our staff on board. The Lesotho Judiciary is now much more efficient and the ease of use has ensured that support staff are using the system effectively.

Synergy's CMS for Rwanda's 5 justice sector institutions has all the capabilities needed to fully automate judicial and administrative procedures. It's highly customizable and helps provide case information to all parties via a user-friendly web portal. I found it easy to learn how to create ad-hoc reports, monthly statistics and daily activity reports. Data collection and export are also simple; by selecting a few criteria, you can generate the report you need, reducing duplication and lowering operational costs. One of the system's biggest time-savers is that you can transfer cases between institutions with just a click. This centralization of information ensures that all legal cases are stored in a single database, making access and review faster. The system also ensures transparent judicial procedures, which is crucial for a clear and accurate understanding of how things work.

Cons

We'd love to get an offline version of the system. Otherwise, it has met all of our expectations.

The system has truly transformed how the justice sector operates in Rwanda. It integrates 5 key institutions (police, prosecution, courts, civil litigation and prisons) plus litigants across the country and even internationally. With just a few clicks, information can be accessed and shared seamlessly. The system is designed to handle the entire case lifecycle along with tasks, appointments and follow ups. It's also fully customizable, which is a huge plus especially for a developing country like Rwanda, where laws and ways of working are evolving. The system's reporting module is by far its strongest feature, thanks to its drag-and-drop functionality, creating accurate reports in various formats (lists, charts, cascades etc) is a breeze. The dashboard also lets users visualize multiple reports in one window, making decision making a lot easier. Plus litigants can easily track all their cases, improving accessibility and reducing transport costs by allowing cases to transfer between institutions with just a few clicks. It's compatible with phones, tablets and computers, making it accessible to everyone. The end users absolutely love it as it's helping them work more efficiently. I have had the pleasure of training judges, registrars and court inspectors on it and the feedback has been incredible. I even had the honor of presenting this system to court delegations from Uganda and Burkina Faso and they were fascinated by it. It's truly a system that Rwandans deserve.

Cons

Like most electronic systems it does rely on power and internet which can be tough for some courts and litigants. That said Rwanda has rolled out fiber optics across the country so this won't be a challenge for long.
