fantastic candidate experience

Pros

As a marketing professional, I know how vital it is to highlight our company culture to candidates just as we do for customers. We put significant emphasis on employer branding and the candidate experience which made this platform an easy choice. The test intro page presented to candidates looks fantastic and lets me add our logo, background media, a "join us" video and other assets. The interface genuinely feels like an extension of our careers page and helps us effectively market the company to prospective talent. The assessments we design deliver a smooth, engaging and realistic experience for our marketing applicants. I'm very happy with the results.

Cons

Simple, easy test creation

Pros

Putting together the tests was incredibly simple and clear-cut, I didn't need any formal training to get the hang of the tool. I just experimented with the platform and honestly enjoyed creating the assessments. I leaned on the pre-built tests for ideas when designing my own. Overall the interface feels tidy, well-organised and very easy for me to use.

Cons

tests are structured as separately timed sections, so once a candidate finishes and submits one section and moves on to the next, they can't return to the prior section. If I want candidates to see and work through the whole assessment freely, I have to combine everything into a single large section rather than relying on the default segmented timing.

Early-funnel assessment efficiency

Pros

We used to run a really inefficient hiring process before this tool came along. Every open role forced us into an initial phone screening, then an HR interview and a follow-up interview with at least two hiring managers, plus other steps. Once we put assessments earlier in the funnel, we reclaimed a huge amount of time that had been wasted on interviews that weren't necessary.

Cons

I think the library of tests they offer is very strong but we still found gaps for a few specific roles and ended up building custom assessments from scratch to cover them. Thankfully their test builder is well-designed, so putting those bespoke tests together was fairly easy and convenient.

Rapid coding test deployment

Pros

This tool made our fast-paced hiring process so much easier. Over one weekend I had our team send a backend coding test to 50 applicants and by the following week we were already interviewing the top five. Because the platform auto-scores the coding tasks, I can instantly identify which candidates demonstrate the strongest abilities.

Cons

We wanted the system to automatically send rejection emails to applicants who performed poorly on the assessments but that capability wasn't part of the plan we purchased.

Flexible developer hiring platform

Pros

I discovered this was the first platform I could rely on that worked equally well for experienced developers and those just starting out. For junior applicants I set up coding challenges and video exercises, while the more senior candidates went through a realistic job simulation including hands-on code review, architecture and design tasks and a convenient coding assignment. I'd highly recommend it and be sure to reach out to the support team, their advice was extremely helpful.

Cons

One limitation I noticed is that although you can author tests in any programming language, the platform's user interface and experience are available only in English at the moment.

pre-built data analyst tests

Pros

Back when I worked at my previous company I relied on this tool regularly. The platform came with an excellent ready-made product/data analyst assessment that saved us a ton of setup time. All it took was plugging in our company details and tweaking the scenario slightly and by the end of our first day with the service we were already sending it out to candidates. The blend of data-analysis problems, marketing exercises and checks for general skills gave me and the team the confidence to make faster, more assured hiring choices.

Cons

Our product manager position included some UI/UX duties and I noticed this tool didn't offer a specific test to evaluate those skills. Rather than a built-in assessment, we had to ask applicants to upload a design portfolio or a single project file for review which felt like a workaround instead of a structured evaluation.

Holistic candidate evaluation

Pros

Previously we used a platform that focused solely on evaluating our R&D candidates' coding and technical abilities, which clearly matters but it never gave us a complete picture of who the person behind the resume was. There's a lot more to uncover about each applicant, how well they communicate, how they prioritize tasks, their level of English and even their motivation and personality to judge cultural fit. This tool elevated our assessments significantly and I feel like our candidates notice and value that we're making an effort to understand them so thoroughly now.

Cons

We specifically asked for pair-programming test capability to be added to this tool. From what I've been told, that functionality should roll out within the next few months and we're genuinely looking forward to trying it out when it becomes available.

Highly customizable assessments

Pros

I was genuinely impressed by how customizable this tool is. My team and I developed a wide range of tests to evaluate candidates for our client company. Whatever we imagined for building these pre-employment assessments could be implemented, from conventional multiple-choice items to measure language ability, to gamified, realistic simulations that recreated client interactions using video prompts and open-text responses. That level of flexibility let us examine our client's candidates' full skill sets in whatever format we needed. The team also went above and beyond to help design and deliver those custom assessments.

Cons

One thing I wanted was an integrated feature to transcribe candidates' video responses into text. We ultimately worked around it using an external solution and the vendor has told us that transcription is on their roadmap.

operations role simulation

Pros

Operations roles differ a lot between companies and can look completely different from industry to industry. With this tool, we were able to build a highly believable "day-in-the-life" scenario for an operations manager at our company. We make heavy use of the various question formats it offers to mimic actual responsibilities, embedding Google Sheets to have candidates create budgets, open-text prompts to simulate composing emails and video response tasks that stand in for Zoom-style conversations. On top of that, their ready-made sections, which we use to assess things like English proficiency, mesh well with our custom items and help us assemble what feels like an ideal, tailored test.

Cons

We've been extremely satisfied with the platform overall. It would have been nice if they offered a completely premade Operations Manager test out of the box but realistically no vendor is going to have a turnkey exam that matches our unique needs exactly, so we've managed fine by customizing what they provide.

Pros

We're using this platform to evaluate entry-level gaming roles such as Marketing, Monetization QA and similar positions. As a small, rapidly growing startup, we previously had no structured way to test candidates for these kinds of jobs. This solution came with fully prepared, 100% ready-to-use assessments that we could quickly tailor to include our own company-specific scenarios. The outcome was an enjoyable, engaging and genuinely realistic simulation of the everyday tasks our applicants would find on the job.

Cons

The assessment library is strong overall but I would really appreciate seeing more plug-and-play tests specifically geared toward game designers.

multi-tech hiring support

Pros

We hire across multiple teams that use very different tech stacks and this tool handled every one of them because it supports a wide range of programming languages, even VBA. For the rarer languages we use, like Elixir in some projects, it still came up with several test suggestions that proved surprisingly effective in real-world scenarios.

Cons

not a con but there are still a handful of programming languages the tool doesn't cover yet, although they aren't the ones we rely on most, and the platform did offer some useful workarounds for those gaps. Their account managers and the Experts team have also been extremely supportive throughout.

Reduced hiring risk with assessments

Pros

Looking back, we made a few bad hiring calls that ended up costing our company a significant amount of time and money. Bad hires hurt every organization but for an operation of our scale a wrong hire can have particularly severe consequences. This platform has given us real assurance that we're selecting the right candidates. Because the assessments we design mirror the actual tasks of the position, I can predict precisely how someone will perform on the job and feel certain they're the correct match.

Cons

I admit the upfront price was somewhat steep at first but you truly get what you pay for, this purchase has proven to be an excellent investment in building our future team and we have been very pleased with the results.

confident hiring through candidate evaluation

Pros

This platform has made me much more confident when choosing hires. I've found that previous roles or a CV don't necessarily reflect how someone performs with clients. Seeing candidates deliver sales pitches on camera or compose client emails has eliminated a huge amount of pointless interview time, and saved our team from pouring resources into poor hires.

Cons

We liked the entire experience, to be honest. It did take a short while to dial in score benchmarks we felt comfortable trusting but with assistance from the tool's team we sorted that out pretty quickly.

aligned hiring workflow and decisions

Pros

I've found this tool greatly aligns our hiring workflow and gives us much more confidence when deciding who to interview and hire. When candidates demonstrate real skills on the screening tests, it becomes clear that the people we pick for interviews are genuinely the strongest fits and we've noticed that test results strongly align with how those hires perform once they're onboarded. This has helped reduce guesswork and sped up our decision-making without sacrificing quality.

Cons

While the tests are incredibly useful for screening and assessing skills, we still have to schedule a call with every candidate to walk them through the test and explain our complete hiring process which does consume a fair amount of time. However, we've accepted this extra step as necessary to make sure candidates understand expectations and to maintain consistency across the process.

Personalized video interview insights

Pros

We tried adding a personal layer by uploading clips of our hiring managers saying hello and posing interview questions for candidates to respond to on video which let us customize the experience. Doing that allowed us to learn about applicants before any live interviews began and the reactions and feedback we received were excellent.

Cons

I didn't find the feature for uploading videos of hiring managers asking candidates questions very feasible inside the test builder, so we ended up reaching out to the tool's support team to set it up. They responded quickly and guided us through it which was really helpful.

Realistic client manager assessments

Pros

In my client relationship manager position I handled a blend of sales duties, relationship-building responsibilities, data analysis tasks and a variety of other activities. We collaborated with the tool's team to design an assessment that let us measure each of those different aspects of the job. The feature I liked most was giving candidates access to realistic datasets so they could produce reports and upload their project files straight into the assessment. After completing the task candidates also record a video walking through their reports which helped us see how they reason. We were able to quickly identify highly capable candidates for this position who are doing well.

Cons

Honestly I can't think of any drawbacks with this platform. We managed to build an ideal assessment, largely using items from their question bank and the team helped us tweak everything to meet our specific requirements. I would absolutely recommend this solution to others without hesitation.

Comprehensive Salesforce developer testing

Pros

I came across this tool and it turned out to be one of the few platforms that let me quickly assemble a comprehensive, end-to-end test for Salesforce developers. The built-in sections covered all the core areas you'd expect to evaluate for Salesforce knowledge and we had the flexibility to insert our own specific topics and scenarios we wanted to judge. Being able to assess candidates' general Salesforce understanding while also having them write Apex code directly within the test hit the sweet spot for us and ultimately helped us identify higher-quality candidates much more efficiently.

Cons

It didn't have native Salesforce integration which was a drawback but we worked around it by attaching screenshots and instructing candidates to either type their code into the test manually or upload their coding projects.

Pros

Honestly, this tool made it fast for me to build assessments for our data candidates that closely resemble the real job, I could test SQL proficiency, Python coding and how they handle complex Excel-based databases. Paired with video prompts that let us see how candidates 'pitch' their findings and extract business insights, the exams we assembled transformed our hiring process. My team and I cut out a huge number of pointless interviews and overall it was a total game changer for saving time and improving candidate evaluation.

Automated Excel-based candidate testing

Pros

Our data analysts work with a huge number of Excel spreadsheets every day. Before we adopted this tool, using comparable Excel-based exercises to evaluate candidates meant I had to spend an enormous amount of time manually verifying every part of their spreadsheets. On top of that, the test files would remain in the candidates' possession and could expose our internal data. Since introducing this solution, we can automatically validate every cell in the spreadsheet and after a candidate submits their test they no longer have access to the file.

Scalable early career assessments

Pros

For early-career hiring I consider skills tests indispensable. Each year our team handles large-scale graduate recruitment and this platform lets us kick off screening with far more applicants while pushing assessments out rapidly and at scale. The timed tests give graduates a fair chance to demonstrate what they can do and within just a few days we can shortlist our top ten interviewees. As a result, we managed to hire four graduates within two weeks.
