too limited for real impact

Pros

It works well enough for basic classroom engagement but the overall functionality seems pretty limited. After a while it comes across as being designed much more for elementary students than for broader or more advanced use.

Cons

At times it barely seems useful enough to justify using at all. I want students to interact with content in ways that truly change how they picture abstract concepts and this platform does not deliver that in the way it was presented to me.

fantastic for differentiated learning

Pros

Nearpod really shines when it comes to differentiating instruction for students in an e-learning environment. That flexibility is easily the part I like most.

Cons

The biggest frustration is that some files can be too large to upload or integrate properly. I occasionally run into issues adding PowerPoint presentations because of the file size.

engaging online lessons

Pros

The tool is very simple to use and the customer support has been fantastic. It works wonderfully for online learning, keeps students highly involved during lessons and offers really strong tools for managing both students and teachers while encouraging interaction. On top of that it makes learning fun and I have never run into bugs or technical problems with it.

Cons

I have been using it for years and still love it. It has been an amazing addition to the classroom.

Perfect classroom companion

Pros

It has been a really strong tool for keeping students involved and organized during lessons. The interface looks polished and appealing and it integrates well with platforms such as Google Classroom.

Cons

Although it gives teachers a helpful way to track how students are doing, it still doesn't fully solve the issue of student distractions. If it were able to prevent access to unrelated websites, it would make classroom management much more effective.

customizable tool

Pros

Nearpod has been fantastic for keeping students involved and making classroom management easier. It gives teachers a way to keep an eye on students while they present and while new material is being taught. The slideshow presentations are customizable too and sharing them through platforms like Google Classroom is really convenient.

Cons

It is missing is a feature that lets teachers block other websites while students are online. Having that option would be really helpful since it would ensure students can only use the site the teacher wants them to access.

Very poor support

Pros

The interactive activities in Nearpod can really capture students attention and keep them engaged. That said with all the changes they've introduced, it doesn't seem as user-friendly to me as it used to.

Cons

Customer support is a big letdown. They haven't been helpful, the platform has quite a few bugs and the price is too high for an individual user.

i liked the gamified tools

Pros

having different question types and activity formats to work with makes lessons much more interactive. i can also embed videos and websites right into the presentation so students stay inside the lesson instead of clicking away and getting distracted. Since students are so interested in games, the gamified activities are a big plus and help keep them engaged. the ready-made lessons are also very well done and hold students attention.

Cons

free plan doesn't support Google Slides. i already have a lot of presentations built that I'd really like to keep using but that isn't possible on the free version. there are plenty of pre-made lessons available for teachers in core subjects but since I teach an elective, the selection seems much more limited.

few accessibility gaps

Pros

Nearpod works well as a classroom engagement platform especially in higher education settings where interactive lessons can keep students involved.

Cons

The downside is its accessibility in higher education. Content needs to be fully navigable and properly interpreted by screen readers and that remains a concern.

team integration works

Pros

Over the past few months Nearpod has become part of my regular classroom routine. The platform is very simple to work with and I really like how teachers can personalize lessons and adjust the ready-made content to match what they need. When I first began teaching, I was creating every single classroom resource on my own. After discovering that there are tools built specifically for teachers, it made my job much more manageable and it has definitely been one of those valuable tools to have. The Microsoft Teams integration has also been especially useful. Right now I am using the free version but I am planning to purchase a subscription later on.

Cons

To me the biggest downside with it is the subscription cost. The free version leaves out a lot of features that feel pretty important. Another issue is that a few times each week, students run into trouble connecting to the app. Usually refreshing solves it but when you have 30 students all dealing with connection problems at once, it's definitely frustrating.

interactive lessons with lots of content

Pros

The interactive setup is one of the best parts of Nearpod and there's also a huge library of ready-made content to work with.

Cons

It does take some time to get comfortable using all of the features confidently.

engaging lessons that hook students

Pros

There are lots of activity options you can build to keep students involved. I really enjoy Time to Climb and the other interactive features. It's also helpful that you can embed videos and even pull from lessons and materials other people have already created.

Cons

Putting activities together can take quite a bit of time and turning a PowerPoint into a fully interactive lesson isn't always quick.

Versatile tools for lessons

Pros

The concept behind it is really appealing and it comes with a wide range of tools to use in class.

Cons

At the end of the day it still seems a bit too dependent on having devices in front of students which can take away from that personal connection with them. A few of the features also overlap with other software so they can seem a little unnecessary. That said I can also understand how some teachers could make really good use of it and get a lot out of it.

interactive lessons that motivate

Pros

Nearpod has been an excellent platform for running interactive virtual sessions with students. It includes a variety of gamified activities that make classes more fun and keep students engaged and motivated.

Cons

The downside is the cost involved if you want access to a larger number of projects.

engaging and Interactive Experience

Pros

I can easily customize lessons for each student because there are so many tools for individualization. The data collection features are very helpful for tracking student progress and I really love how students can work independently but also collaborate with each other.

Cons

Their interface is really confusing and I'm still struggling to figure out how some features work especially when trying to integrate with Google Slides and it's not easy at all.

Interactive tool that's nearly perfect

Pros

I'm a huge fan of the interactive near pods especially with the virtual reality features. They really make things fun and engaging for the students.

Cons

The storage space gets limited if you're not a member, which makes it hard to keep all my lessons saved.

manages lesson prep efficiently

Pros

This tool saves me so much prep time because there are pre-made lessons that align with the standards. I can easily tweak them to meet my students' needs. The virtual field trips and surveys keep everyone engaged and the collaborative boards and quizzes make the learning process really interactive.

Cons

When looking at plans, the free tier is super limited and you only get 100 MB of storage, and you can have up to 40 students per lesson. If you need more than that, you'll have to pay for one of the higher plans.

essential classroom management solution

Pros

I've been using this since the pandemic began and I'm so grateful for having ready-made lessons available at my fingertips. The ability to filter by subject and grade level makes finding exactly what I need fast. Whether I need a full lesson or just some guidance on something I'm working on, I usually find something useful. I can also customize most content which means I don't have to stick with everything that's provided. Plus, letting students work at their own pace or follow along with me is so valuable.

Cons

The full lessons that come built-in aren't very customizable which can be a real pain when you need to adjust content to fit your specific needs.

excellent functionality but UI feels old

Pros

It is very easy to use and I can access it from nearly any device. My students use it easily whether they're on phones, iPads or Chromebooks. What's great is being able to reuse the same content multiple times and share it with other educators. The integration process for both students and adults is really simple and smooth.

Cons

UI can feel outdated at times and I really wish there were more template options available to choose from.

Useful platform for teaching, can grow further

Pros

I love how versatile the presentations are, they work great for classroom lessons, teacher-led sessions or even homework. There's a huge variety of activities and having direct links to websites makes everything more engaging. Being able to view student work and share it anonymously with the class for discussion is a huge plus. The library of teacher-created resources saves me tons of time and I love that all my presentations are stored in a private library where I can easily copy and edit them. Student login is easy too.

Cons

It's costly if you're trying to implement it across an entire school system.

always evolving classroom tool

Pros

It has really evolved over the years to keep up with newer generations and their interest in digital learning tools. Just about every time I log in, there seems to be a new feature added. The LMS integration with automatic sign-in is also really convenient.

Cons

One thing that could help is a branding refresh since a lot of people still think of this tool as just the older version of an online PowerPoint platform.
