“Misleading features and costly experience

From my point of view, nothing about it really stood out compared to other tools available today. However, the implementation agent who worked with us did a great job helping us get everything in place.

Cons

We were misled by our salesperson about which features were included and that set the tone for the rest of our experience. Administrative functions are confusingly or incorrectly labeled, forcing us to invent a number of workaround processes. Those gaps meant we had to rely on complex coding fixes to accomplish things that should have been simple drag-and-drop operations. To make matters worse, they charged us $4K for two months of service even though the last three quarters of the second month were consumed by our dispute and the account cancellation process. It felt like they were more than happy to accept our payment despite failing to deliver what we paid for.

Whenever I run into a problem, I reach out to support and they usually respond quickly with either a clear solution or a step-by-step guide that helps me fix the issue.

When it comes to quizzes and assessments, I feel they could be more interactive and flexible. They handle simple knowledge checks fine but I miss features like branching scenarios, randomized questions and stronger test-security measures that would support more advanced or high-stakes testing.

In my experience, this tool's 14-day free trial carries a significant downside, you are not allowed to cancel the auto-renewal while the trial is still running. What that means in practice is if I forget to cancel before the trial period ends, I end up being charged for a paid subscription automatically. That absence of flexibility feels unreasonably restrictive and seems avoidable if there were an upfront option to switch off auto-renewal. I do understand why companies need to handle subscription billing but to me this policy reads more like a deliberate way to lock users in than an attempt to create a smooth, user-friendly experience.

What impressed me the most is how supportive the team behind the platform has been. They helped me set up my course website and walked me through the integrations patiently. Their responses were quick and very helpful. I also like the learning-path feature because it allows me to group modules together with prerequisites which has made organizing my program much easier.

I'm a power user who generated about $2.5M in course sales using Teachable. After they introduced a much more expensive pricing structure, I decided to move my school to this tool. I paid upfront for the Grow plan for a full year mainly to use the built-in email marketing feature. However, today I discovered that my email-sending privileges were suspended because my messages didn't include an unsubscribe link, even though when I previously contacted their support to ask how to add one, I was told it wasn't technically possible.

Creating a course is incredibly easy for me, I don't need any HTML coding. At the same time, I value having access to the underlying code so I can push the content to the next level.
