“quick setup and rollback”

Pros

Getting started feels very user-friendly and rolling back changes only takes a few seconds. Once the source code is set up, I can have it running on my local machine in no time with just a handful of commands.

Cons

At times, after updating the source code, the changes don't show up right away and can take a few minutes to appear.

It helps me manage the projects I create and supports the development of those projects as they move forward.

Cons

A bit difficult to use at first but with practice it becomes much more understandable.

Pros

One of the biggest advantages is that it's fully internet-based so unlike VSS, it doesn't need a heavy or rigorous setup for the organization. Also, almost every IDE offers quick, smooth collaboration with it which makes working together very convenient.

Cons

Because it's entirely internet-based, I'm still not completely confident about the security side of it. Organizations with strict security needs may prefer to keep sensitive IP within a private, self-hosted environment or behind a VPN.

Pros

Being able to handle multiple repositories in one place and work alongside my team on coding projects has been a big plus.

Cons

The GUI has given me some trouble although it was probably related to my machine. Most of the time, I stick to the terminal anyway.

I like that we are free to use it... it is a huge plus and it gives teams a strong way to collaborate on shared projects together.

Cons

Getting started can feel a little challenging for beginners but there's a large user community and plenty of tutorials available to help.

Uploading changes to it from the console feels very simple, with commands that are simple to remember and use regularly. It also makes it much easier to trace where a bug may have been introduced since the commit history gives a clear view of what changed and when.

Back when I was first learning it around four years ago, there were not many resources available which made the learning process harder. There are plenty of strong resources now though. I have also heard a lot about Github LFS but I still have not tried it because I could not find documentation that explained it well enough.

As a developer, I see it as an essential platform for storing source code and managing version control which makes customization and ongoing development much more convenient.

Cons

The interface can feel complicated and it takes additional training to really become proficient with it. That said there are plenty of tutorials online that help make the learning process manageable.

Pros

It is a well-structured platform for securely storing and managing source code online. It offers a lot of flexibility when it comes to version control, letting you review older code, make the needed changes and move back to any previous version whenever necessary.

Cons

Its functionality can feel a little complicated at first so some initial training is usually needed. Taking a few online courses can really help in understanding how to use it properly.

Collaboration and sharing work really well, the analytics are useful and it runs across different operating systems without any trouble.

Cons

At this point, I haven't come across any features that I would consider unlikeable.

Pros

Contributing to open-source projects feels much more simple with this and that has really helped me grow as a developer. During the pandemic, my hard drive crashed and I panicked for a while but then I remembered I had committed a version of my code the month before. Being able to clone those changes back onto my local machine saved me a lot of stress.

I really don't have any complaints about how the service works but I do think the website design could use a bit of improvement.

Pros

Back in 2020, I began using it and since then it has become a regular part of my work as a front-end web developer. The biggest advantage, in my opinion, is how well it supports collaboration. Multiple developers can work on the same project without much trouble which is incredibly useful in team environments. Another standout feature is the version control system since it lets us return to earlier versions of the source code in just a few clicks. Also, the commands are simple so the platform feels very user-friendly overall.

Cons

One part of it that still frustrates me is collaboration when two people are editing the same file and push their code at nearly the same time. That usually creates conflicts and dealing with those situations can be really difficult and messy. I think it should come up with a better way to handle that problem.

Across our team, everyone appreciates how dependable this software is and is good to use.

Cons

It's simple to learn but getting started can be a little confusing for new users and some sections are harder to find than they should be. Other than that, the software has been fantastic.

Pros

It's pretty much the standard platform for sharing your portfolio which makes it a strong place to be. The interface also works well for pushing code, handling source control and merging changes.

Cons

There's still room for more features, like with any software. It would also be nice to have tutorials tailored to different experience levels.

Working together with others is one of the best parts of this software. It supports collaboration and teamwork really well and one of the nicest things about it is how simple it is to use.

Cons

The only annoying part is that all repositories are kept in one place which is not very practical on a phone because of the small screen. Aside from that, I have not run into any other problems.

Pros

What I appreciate most is how accessible it makes sharing projects and getting feedback from others. It opens up a really valuable space for people to improve when implementing code or working with different technologies.

Cons

One thing that feels missing is more adaptive documentation and navigation especially at the beginning. It took me a while to figure out how to access certain projects, download them or share my own work.

Pros

Keeping my code organized has been a big plus. Whether the repository is public or private, it's really convenient to clone projects, make updates and push everything back up. If anything breaks, I can roll back changes and debug more easily. I also haven't explored all of it's features yet so I'm excited to keep digging into everything it offers.

Cons

An issue I ran into was using git commands in the Mac terminal. I couldn't get the git commit command to work properly so I ended up downloading Github Desktop instead which turned out to be a much easier and more smooth way to manage things.

Pros

This is one of the most resourceful software platforms I've used. The repository system is especially useful and the CI/CD feature has helped me a lot with managing my projects and related work.

Cons

On the downside, I think the team should pay more attention to the group creation feature especially when used at a larger scale. It would also be better if free subscription users worldwide had access to more features.

“Loved it”

Pros

Ever since our team started using it to push code into the development environment, our delivery timelines have gone down noticeably. It makes managing Git repositories much more simple thanks to its excellent interface and strong overall system. I'm also a big fan of the Package Registry feature since it's fast, quick to get running and comes with a reasonable pricing plan.

Cons

During collaboration, sharing a link to an exact line in a specific file can sometimes be a little tricky and the API isn't always the most simple to work with.

“Nuanced software”

Pros

One of the best parts of the platform is how huge the user base is and how many projects there are to explore and work on with others. It feels a lot like a social network for developers and their code. When it comes to sharing a Git-based project, this is the top place to do it because so many people can discover it, comment on it and contribute.

Cons

there is not much for me to complain about with it. I have been a fan of it since the early days when I had a premium student account through my university. If anything, it could maybe add a few more collaboration tools or social features but that is only a very minor criticism.

The interface is simple to navigate and the feature set is extremely useful in day-to-day use.

Cons

Design of the interface isn't the most visually appealing and the desktop app can feel slow at times.
