“Free collaboration with history tracking”

Being free is a big plus. It also keeps a record of history and makes collaborating with colleagues very convenient.

Cons

It's not the most user-friendly option overall because the interface could be improved.

One of the biggest advantages of this software is how well it helps showcase projects and skills within the software industry.

It offers excellent code hosting and also includes team management features. It makes it simple to handle more than one project by keeping them in separate repositories.

One thing that's missing is better notifications around how long project pull and push actions take and it could definitely use some stronger updates in that area.

There's clearly a lot of thought, effort and intelligence behind this product and I liked the minds that designed and programmed it.

Using it doesn't feel very user friendly though. You either need someone to guide you or have to spend hours figuring out how the application works. Because of that, trying to learn it on your own is difficult which can be frustrating for new users who were expecting a better first experience or were referred to the app by others.

This is a simple and incredibly handy tool for software developers especially considering it's available for free.

Cons

The mobile app doesn't feel all that engaging right now so it could definitely use some improvements.

Our team really relies on this platform for several reasons: it works well with other applications, has built-in issue and bug tracking and makes project management much more convenient. Task tracking and assignment are handled nicely and code hosting is another feature we use constantly. These are some of the key capabilities our organization values most and we've become heavily dependent on them.

Cons

It runs slower on Windows compared with other operating systems and the GUI feels a bit limited. It also doesn't track empty folders which can be inconvenient in some cases.

“reliable choice for source control”

Pros

Pretty much everything works well here. To start with, it's widely adopted which makes collaboration and onboarding much easier. The interface is simple and it still includes all the features I need. I also appreciate the integration with third-party cloud platforms for CI/CD deployment.

Cons

honestly I don't have any complaints about it. Whenever I need to pick a source management tool for a project, this is the first one I go with.

One thing that really stands out is how supportive the user community is. People are genuinely willing to share their knowledge, tips and insights which makes using the software a much better experience.

All of features are extensive so getting familiar with everything does take some time and exploration.

This is the platform I rely on most for source control. Keeping track of different versions of applications is very simple and if anything ever breaks, having a backup on the tool is a real lifesaver.

Cons

It's available for free and the Pro version is useful when collaborating with teams. At this point, I haven't run into any downsides.

Pros

Across 4-5 projects, I've worked with Git regularly and we're still using it in my current project as well. I've tried other code versioning tools too but Git has felt more user-friendly and interactive than the rest.

Cons

I haven't come across any major drawbacks. The only thing I'd suggest is adding a code shelve feature like the one available in Microsoft TFS though it's definitely not a serious blocker for me.

Pros

The CI/CD pipeline is a standout feature for DevOps. It lets software engineers complete deployments within hours which is a huge advantage.

Cons

Interface feels tiring and a bit intimidating especially when compared with Bitbucket.

Visual side of the commits is really appealing. I can open up my code, make edits and quickly jump between different branches and projects without any trouble.

The interface feels a little outdated and it could definitely use more interactivity.

One of the best parts of this software is how powerful it is. Anytime I need to push changes to my site, the GitHub push feature helps a lot and makes that part of the work really convenient.

Cons

A limitation I've noticed is that individual users still don't have access to the Codespaces feature for coding or editing files.

It has pretty much everything needed to build programs faster and in most cases it's secure and free to use. Getting started is simple and it comes with plenty of features, including tools for managing tasks and tracking issues. It's been a really positive addition for both me and my team and it has saved us a lot of time.

Cons

Neither my team nor I have run into any issues with it.

“helpful for learning software”

Pros

Whenever I run into software problems or errors this has been a big help in getting them sorted out especially since I'm still at the beginning of learning software.

Cons

The only downside is that support for the Arabic language feels a bit limited. Other than that, it has been wonderful.

It is the main repository I use for my code and the Jira integration it offers has been really useful.

Cons

Only issue is that when it has downtime, it can cause problems sometimes.
