“Plug and Play analytics that custom fit your business”
Pros
This tool allows me to allocate effort spent, enabling my business to understand effort without time tracking. I can roll that data up into business value data points. Also, I was able to plug this into our existing ticket tracking system and began to see the analytics right away.
Cons
The user experience took me some time to learn. The abundance of data available is both a positive and a negative because it's difficult to figure out how to pack all that information into an easier UI.

The UI is not intuitive for me and requires additional research before I can use it. Navigation isn't intuitive either.

“Jellyfish Review”
Pros
Their easy-to-use dashboards that provide information to manage my teams. I love the ability to drill down for details and find it well organized.
Cons
I think it needs better documentation and online help to understand what some of the information is. I would like more features to drill down on the code to identify hotspots and features to support work forecasting.

“Powerful agile tool, still incorporating data into my reports”
Pros
I've long been an advocate of knowing metrics for agile practices beyond burndown percentages. Jellyfish surfaces this data and helps me prove that my teams are becoming more efficient over time.
Cons
I think a lot of this is on me. I'm not incorporating data from Jellyfish into my professional goals/OKRs. The long process of buy-in at my company is slowing down a greater embrace of Jellyfish data.

“Awesome development work tracking”
Pros
I like the software's intelligence to integrate various software development platforms into a single place and present it with a complete analysis of projects and teams.
Cons
I noticed that some metrics retrieved from a set of information might not be enough to give a complete picture of an analysis, such as productivity. Offline work, like meetings or discussions, isn't tracked in the system and doesn't appear anywhere.

“Very insightful”
Pros
Jellyfish provides visibility into almost anything that can be measured or counted about my teams' output, as recorded in GitHub and Jira. All these different measures have to be taken in context to be of any value, but Jellyfish supports me in building a picture by offering quick navigation into and across different metrics and ways of aggregating them.
Cons
Although it's no fault of Jellyfish, these metrics could be used poorly or abused.

“Get visibility to your engineering”
Pros
The integration into GitHub and JIRA works well to give me a high-level view and the ability to deep dive into organization work. I particularly like the ability to see allocation per project/area.
Cons
Sometimes the details get too detailed too fast. The high level is great, but I feel the product could benefit from a mid-level of insights.

“Good software for understanding how Engineering and Product come together”
Pros
Jellyfish gives a more product-centric view of engineering output and this is what I like the most about it. Rather than focusing on reducing engineers down to an abstract number making opaque claims about individual impact, Jellyfish looks more holistically at what engineering is working on, how it ties back to the roadmap and higher-level goals, and really helps me understand where time is being spent.
Cons
I find the individual developer metrics not very useful. I would be fine without them, but as it is, we don't use them, so it's kind of clutter in the interface.

“Great product to keep a pulse on the team”
Pros
The high-level project overview provides me with insight into where my team has been focusing their efforts and offers a deep dive into metrics for individual contributors, paving the way for constructive feedback.
Cons
Compared to competing products, I find it missing some IC metrics (risk, churn, impact, etc.). The tool focuses more on throughput metrics and doesn't analyze code commits to determine the "fuzzier" context.

“Gives you what you put in to it”
Pros
It is easy to partition raw data and splice it into useful formats once I get over the initial setup hurdle.
Cons
I sometimes forget that the results are heavily skewed by how my teams work with Jira. You get what you put into it, and if you don't keep that in mind, you'll make decisions based on wrong assumptions. This is more a critique of the philosophy of the product than the product itself, though.

“The most complete Engineering Analytics tool”
Pros
This engineering analytics tool closes the gap between engineering and the executives because it makes the translation of the engineering activity into business metrics/language. That is super helpful for my company to understand its operational efficiency and where to improve.
Cons
Although the product is quite complete, I would like to have more indicators (business and engineering).

“Great Software”
Pros
Jellyfish really is good at doing a lot of things. I primarily use it to help track my own velocity and ensure the quality of stories in our backlog. It's great at visualizing those things.
Cons
There is a fairly steep learning curve. I feel as if training is vital to use the product well. I also believe that having consistency across an organization is important.

“Jellyfish is a great entry in this crowded space”
Pros
I like how Jellyfish takes an opinionated approach, focusing on metrics that truly matter for an engineering team. It helps me understand the value my organization is delivering, rather than just tracking individual activities. This strategic perspective sets Jellyfish apart from other tools I've used in this space.
Cons
As a user of this relatively new product, I found the user interface a bit overwhelming initially due to the variety of data types and access methods. However, I like that it provide me detailed data about my organization. I hope they refine the presentation in the future.

“Jellyfish is a great entry in this crowded space”
Pros
I admire how Jellyfish has an opinionated view that the metrics that matter for an engineering team should be ones that help me understand what value my organization is working on and shipping, not just what individuals are doing on a given day. That allows me to use Jellyfish in a more strategic way than some of the other tools in this space I've previously tried.
Cons
It's still a somewhat new product, and the UI took me a little getting used to because there are so many different types of data and ways to access it. I liked the breadth and depth of data about my organization they had, but I look forward to them tweaking how it's presented in the future.
