“perfect source of truth
Pros
With more than 600 products on our site spread across five regions worldwide, PIMS has become our go-to source of truth. Whenever something looks off in Shopify, we trust the product data stored in PIMS to be the accurate version. We depend on it heavily, especially since website issues come up for us on a daily basis.
Cons
Getting started with PIMS was pretty confusing and the navigation was not very simple at first. It also does not feel like a platform you can just learn on your own, since regular training is really needed. There are frequent roadblocks and some of them are quite hard to work through without extra help.

“centralized product visibility
Pros
Having all of our products gathered in one place gave us much better visibility and made everything feel more organized for us. We also appreciated the range of tools available and found them useful.
Cons
Since we operate in a niche market with refurbished products and don't need a full market rollout, some parts of the platform sounded appealing but ultimately didn't make practical sense for us to use. Because of that, we ended up doing a lot of the heavy lifting ourselves just to make the workflows functional. There was also a misunderstanding about a direct linear connection with the venues that we thought was included when we signed up but that wasn't actually available at the time.

“fast uploads and quicker launches
Pros
Working mainly in the DAM, one of the biggest advantages for me is how the naming convention and Bulk Uploader tool work together. I can upload all the images and PDFs I need and they automatically get assigned to the right product with very little trouble. That makes the whole process really convenient, gives me more time to focus on editing images or getting on with other tasks and helps products go live faster.
Cons
There is not really anything I outright dislike but a few improvements would make it even better. The multi-search function in the products section would be more useful if it let me search by more than just Primary ID. Being able to search with something like an OEM number directly would save me from having to convert everything first. I also feel that PIMB Indigo runs a little slower than the original PIMB. For example, after an image has been uploaded to a product, it sometimes shows no image until I refresh the page a few times. Another feature I would really welcome is the ability to download assets attached to one or multiple products directly within PIMB. At the moment I use Python to download images through channels in PIMB and while that works, removing that extra step and handling it inside the platform would make the whole workflow much more aligned.

“faster workflows and reliable support
Pros
Since we started using it, our organisation has seen a major improvement in the way we manage data and it has had a real impact on how we operate day to day. One of the biggest advantages has been how much faster we can deliver product information to customers. That whole process is now quicker and more dependable which has helped us respond faster and improve customer satisfaction. It has genuinely changed our data management processes. The automation built into the platform is something we did not have before and it has helped align operations while cutting down a lot of manual work. The automated workflow features also help keep our product information accurate and consistent across every channel. Making updates in the system is simple and efficient for us. The interface is user-friendly, so our team can make changes quickly without needing deep technical expertise. Another major benefit has been its flexibility when it comes to integrating with external systems. Whether connecting with our websites or ERP systems, it enables data to flow easily. That integration has made our IT environment much simpler and reduced the hassle of managing multiple data sources. Workflow management is also one of its strongest points. The workflow tools let us define, track and optimise our processes effectively and that has made operations more efficient because many tasks are now assigned automatically. The support has also been outstanding. From the initial implementation to ongoing use, their team has been responsive, helpful and quick to step in whenever we needed assistance. They have resolved issues promptly and shared useful best-practice guidance which has helped us get the most value from the system.
Cons
The system handles individual tasks well overall but its performance is not as strong when it comes to large bulk updates. There have also been a few bugs which is not unusual for a system with this level of depth. That said, one thing that really helps is the quality of the support team. Whenever problems come up, they respond quickly and work hard to resolve them effectively.

From the initial rollout to launching the product data sheet module, I felt well supported the whole way through. The delivery team was skilled, knowledgeable and quick to respond whenever we needed help. They really made an effort to understand our specific use cases and came back with thoughtful, creative solutions.

“powerful and simple fit
Pros
Right from the start, the software felt very simple to work with for us. The core features, along with the add-ons, helped it cover more of our business needs than we originally expected during the initial rollout. Because we already feel comfortable and confident using the starting product suite, we're even more excited to explore other ways this software can support our business.
Cons
A bit more flexibility in the preproduction and production setups would have helped. We work with different ERPs, each with its own business rules for managing basic product data, so we needed more adaptability than the tool initially offered. Even so, we were able to sort out what was negotiable and what was not and ultimately make it work for our needs.

“two years wasted on this tool!
Pros
Development was clearly still moving forward, with new additions such as AI-generated text. I like that updated interface was better than the previous version, although only by a small margin.
Cons
We were originally told onboarding would take only a few weeks but it dragged on for almost two years before being abandoned altogether. The IT team left us dealing with the fallout of a major mess they created, while still pushing to keep most of our money. Bug fixes and promised features we were counting on were constantly pushed back by months. We were also repeatedly assured that integrations with other widely used tools were in progress but after a year and a half of onboarding, I learned they had only bought the license for the most important integration the week before, just to begin the work and testing.

“powerful automation and flexibility
Pros
Right from the start, the flexibility of the system has stood out. It can handle almost anything through the standard out-of-the-box automation features which has been a huge advantage. The onboarding team was also very knowledgeable and helpful, giving us the guidance we needed to transform our data, cut down on manual hours and turn repetitive tasks into automated workflows.
Cons
A few parts of the system still feel like they're being developed but the visibility into the product roadmap makes a big difference because it keeps us informed about what's coming next. It would also be helpful to have more out-of-the-box connectors for the larger sales channels, especially so users could work through a GUI and see connector status logs directly. That said, if you have in-house developers, this is much less of a concern.

Elastic Path is a composable commerce platform that suits our customers well because they can take a best-of-breed approach and choose the components that bring the most business value. We use it because it stands out as best-in-class. On top of the standard functionality you'd expect, they keep rolling out new features, so the platform continues to feel current and well-maintained. “a complete onboarding disaster
Pros
Honestly, there really wasn't anything positive about our experience, it was a nightmare from start to finish. We were misled during onboarding and that so-called onboarding dragged on for more than a year. When they finally tested the last feature, their IT team erased all of our category data without even realizing it. On top of that, nobody stepped in to fix the damage or provide any real support.
Cons
There's barely any documentation available. Even though they market it as a self-serve platform, a lot of the setup still depends on their team to handle it. The problem is, they're frequently unavailable, slow to respond, or seemingly always out on vacation. Leadership and management were also rude and unhelpful whenever we tried to get answers. Beyond that, the system is packed with bugs and feels risky to use since it can unexpectedly delete your data.

“broken promises and frustrating delays
Pros
The workflow tools are one of the few great parts of the platform for us and can be quite capable.
Cons
After spending a lot of time researching PIM systems, we chose this one not because it was the strongest option at the time but because of the vision they presented, the roadmap they sold and the fact that we wanted to back a British company. Four years on, that decision has been a real disappointment. They fell well short of the roadmap and overall direction that was promised. Release dates kept getting pushed back again and again and eventually they stopped giving deployment or go-live dates altogether. Even when features finally arrived, they were nowhere near what had originally been sold to us. The final tipping point was a so-called quarterly account review where our account manager created a list of action points independently, yet more than six months later, none of it had been completed. This pattern of overpromising and underdelivering happened repeatedly. It was not limited to the account manager either, we saw the same issues at director level which suggests the problem starts from the top. In spite of the marketing claim that this is "the most powerful Product Information platform on the planet," the system is incredibly slow. After speaking with other IT customers, it is clear this is not just our experience. If you go in accepting the platform for what it currently is, along with its many shortcomings, you may find it passable. But I would be very cautious about trusting promises, timelines, or future feature commitments, because there is a strong chance you will end up as disappointed as we did. After reviewing other platforms again, it became obvious how much the rest of the market has progressed while this one has been left behind.

Pros
Using it every day has been a big help for me because the features I rely on really support my workflow. Once you get comfortable with feeds and channels, moving data in and out of the system is very quick. When I need to manually add or enrich products and upload images, it only takes a few minutes. Cons

“flexible schemas for every product need
Pros
One of the biggest strengths here is how flexible the schemas and attribute mapping are for us. It handles pretty much any kind of product data requirement we have. We've been able to tailor it not only to store information and push it out to sales channels but also to manage specifications for sourcing and manufacturing. That takes it well beyond what I'd normally expect from a PIM, since it's doing much more than just serving customer-facing product data.
Cons
There were a few limits in the way schema construction worked, especially because we needed additional levels in the product relationship structure to capture our sourcing specifications properly. We've managed to find practical workarounds, so it hasn't blocked us but it does mean the setup isn't completely perfect. Even with that, I still don't think we would have found a better-fit solution to begin our product journey with.

“faster multichannel product updates
Pros
Over the past six months, as our product range has grown massively with even more expansion planned, this has made adding new products across multiple sales channels much faster and far more efficient for us. We can upload hundreds, sometimes even thousands, of SKUs at once across marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Wayfair, Mano Mano and OnBuy, along with our own website. It has cut out a huge amount of work that used to go into creating separate import sheets for every platform. Updating products is much simpler as well. If we need to change something like the dimensions of a dining chair, that used to mean manually updating thousands of related bundles one by one. Now we just edit the original product here and the linked items can be updated to match without all that extra effort.

On the marketing side, I also use it to add product descriptions and feature details and to optimize our listings. Up to now, I honestly haven't run into anything to complain about in that area.
