“Approachable for anyone”

Pros

It feels incredibly flexible and is very approachable for anyone already familiar with Excel. At the same time, admins and power users can go much further with it since it nicely blends the line between a spreadsheet tool and a database. On top of that, the personal support is very helpful and responds immediately.

Cons

Moving from 25 users to 50 users is relatively expensive.

“Open source software”

Pros

Running it on your own hosting at no extra cost is a big plus, especially since it removes a lot of the usual GDPR/DSGVO concerns. Starting for free with the full feature set also makes product development feel low-risk and the pay-as-you-grow model is a very practical way to scale. On top of that, it's open source which means no vendor lock-in and a more transparent development path.

Cons

At the moment, there isn't really a service partner community so you mostly have to rely on the SeaTable team or bring in developers when you need support. There's also no certification program or academy yet which makes it harder to deepen your application knowledge or qualify as a power user in larger organizations.

“Better off with airtable”

Pros

It was decent overall and there was a lot about it that I enjoyed. After switching over to Airtable though, it became pretty clear they were trying to replicate a lot of the same ideas, just not nearly as successfully.

Cons

The support was terrible. I've moved to Airtable now and it's a much better product.

“Cuts down development time”

Pros

We've cut our development time by nearly 50% and even more complex web applications can be built very quickly.

Cons

If anything, a web app designer with even more features would be helpful.

“Flexible real-time collaboration”

Pros

Working together in real time on an Excel-like table is really convenient with it and for developers the API is very simple to use.

Cons

A base cannot exceed a total size of 200 MB for technical reasons. You can move rows into the "Big Data" storage afterward but that area no longer includes collaborative features.

“Rich feature set”

Pros

It has been a pleasure to use thanks to how user-friendly it is while still offering a really rich feature set. There's a long range of data types available and the plug-ins are genuinely useful, especially calendar, timeline, Kanban, page design, advanced statistics and SQL. Customer support has also been very reliable. Another big advantage is that it's based in Germany which is reassuring from a GDPR compliance standpoint.

Cons

The ability for developers to monetize the applications they build is missing. User-created apps can be shared freely with others as Seatable templates but at the moment there's no built-in option to sell them.

“Full control with on-prem hosting”

Pros

Having the option to host the database on-premise was the biggest advantage for our team since it gives us complete control over our data. We're able to define the security settings ourselves and protect every backup based on our own requirements.

Cons

It's still a relatively new product on the market but the team regularly includes user-requested features in the monthly updates so it continues improving all the time.

“Modern UI that fits my workflow”

Pros

It really helps me organize tables in a smart way and it fits well with how I work. The UI and UX are something I really enjoy too, they feel very modern and pleasant to use.

Cons

I'd love to see a mobile app in the future. Also, image loading feels a little slow at times so I hope performance can be improved.

“Covers all our requirements”

Pros

Since most people already understand the basics of spreadsheets, starting from that kind of setup makes adoption feel very natural and gives users a solid foundation right away.

Cons

Would have to stop and think about what to put here because up to this point it has covered all of our requirements with its available functionality.

“Our go-to tool”

Pros

It has become our go-to tool for both project and task management because it's flexible and simple to adapt. We keep all tasks inside the platform so everyone on the team is clear on what needs to be done, where it belongs and when it's due. Instead of sending emails back and forth, we rely on the built-in comments to coordinate directly on tasks which keeps communication much more organized. We also use SeaTable for smaller, less critical workflows like vacation tracking, brainstorming, inventory and basically anything we would normally throw into an Excel sheet. We run it on our own self-hosted server rather than using the cloud version and the pricing feels very reasonable, especially for a small team.

Cons

Usability could be better. For example, you can't fully work using just the keyboard so at times you have to move over to the mouse. That breaks the flow a bit and makes work feel slower and less efficient.

“Comprehensive set of features”

Pros

Having it hosted in the EU makes GDPR compliance much simpler which is a big plus. Even though the product is still actively being developed, it already offers an almost complete set of features.

Cons

The free SaaS plan doesn't allow sharing individual views.

“simple to handle”

Pros

Using it has been a really positive experience because it's simple to work with and most of the features are genuinely practical and useful. It gives me exactly what I need at the moment I need it. Things like switching between different views, grouping by any column and creating relations between data are especially helpful. One feature I appreciate a lot is the custom form integration with SeaTable. It comes in really handy when I need outside users to submit data into a table without having to manually share the table itself.

Cons

It still misses some of the power you get from traditional spreadsheets. For example, the formulas can feel a bit limited and text fields are not very flexible to work with when entering long content. Some sharing options can also be inconvenient, particularly in Timeline view and when exporting to Excel. That said, I keep noticing regular updates which shows the team is actively trying to improve it.
