Useful live dashboards

Pros

Deltek Vantagepoint works well for us because the dashboards can be exported and the data can be pulled into Excel spreadsheets. It is also helpful that customized reports can be saved and reused later. Those features give both our accounting team and leadership direct access to live project data including utilization, effective multipliers and profitability.

Cons

One limitation is not being able to switch a project from an opportunity into a standard billable project by changing the charge type. It would also help to have the option to delete a timesheet that may not have actually been used in the system. Another gap is the lack of project visibility similar to Project Central in Unanet especially when trying to review project-level data.

Helpful financial reporting tools

Pros

The financial reporting gives Project Managers the visibility they need and makes it much easier to stay on top of project finances.

Cons

A timesheet only allows one accrual code to populate which feels limiting. It would also help to have clearer instructions for setting up new features.

pretty ideal for AE teams

Pros

It's a very user-friendly platform and I really appreciate that it's built specifically for the industry and works especially well for AE.

Cons

One thing that gets frustrating is when reports expire after being left open for a while. There are times when I need extra time to analyze something and once I switch pages, it times out and I have to generate the whole report again.

great project tools but weaker accounting

Pros

The project side works really well and the bank reconciliation feature is a strong part of the software.

Cons

Accounting isn't its strongest area and it could definitely use some improvement.

Practical fit for business

Pros

Using it has been very practical and the interface is simple to work with. It is something we can definitely put to good use in our business.

Cons

Reporting still has a few limitations and the dashboards could use more improvement. I'd also like to have additional options overall including support for having more than one delegate.

Reporting and invoicing are excellent

Pros

I must say the reporting, invoicing, project setup and billing terms are all really well done.

Cons

Well I think entering budgets and using the resource planning module could be better.

Versatile dashboards and reporting

Pros

After well over a year using VP I've been able to get a lot done with it from dashboards and custom reporting to screen design and adding items to existing pages. Also the system is very user-friendly and there's plenty of training material and helpful tips available whenever needed.

Cons

The purchasing module still has a gap when it comes to handling blanket POs. As we can't receive against a blanket PO which means we're also unable to draw down on the purchase order.

Too many clicks for ap

Pros

Accounts payable tasks take more steps than they should when I am trying to pull invoice details. Remittance printouts also leave out our descriptions so if an invoice does not include an invoice number, I end up having to print or handwrite a brief note explaining what the check is for.

Cons

Paid when paid function really needs to support partial payments but right now it doesn't. Adding invoices to one that has already been posted or paid also involves far too many clicks. On top of that the remittance email verification isn't dependable.

top tool in the market

Pros

Deltek has been innovating and rolling out new technology faster which has been encouraging to see. I have especially valued the added transparency around upcoming features and changes before they go live. The customer ideas portal has also worked well as a place for users to share what they want from Vantagepoint while also giving people a way to engage with both other users and the Deltek team.

Cons

It still has some areas that don't feel as flexible or adaptable as our team needs and certain parts require a significant investment of time to learn and keep up. The AI agent built into it hasn't been useful for us. Between its limitations, the inconsistency of its responses and how long it can take to reply, it's usually faster to skip the AI altogether and go through the traditional process to get what I need.

Timesheet Review Process

Pros

I think the software is easy to use. The learning curve was short to get started, and it doesn't seem to have many, if any, major issues.

Cons

The apperance and feel of software is a bit difficult to get used to and when I use timesheets, they do not fit in one window, so I have to scroll side to side to see all columns.

Vantagepoint for Project Accounting

Pros

I consider the project view helpful in analyzing the financials of a project.

Cons

I find the financial accounting features to be rather clunky, and I believe they require a significant amount of improvement to meet the needs of users more effectively.

Not worth the upgrade

Pros

In my opinion, the process of sending hyperlinks for specific records to my colleagues is significantly more convenient and efficient compared to having them manually search for the information themselves.

Cons

The overall interface is difficult for me to navigate because the fields tend to blur together and nothing really stands out, and the auto-save 'feature' actually increased the amount of clicks necessary for me to complete my everyday workflows.

Easy to Use Software from an End-User Perspective

Pros

As an end-user, I regard Deltek as simple software to use for entering and submitting my timesheets and expenses.

Cons

One feature I think could be improved is the layout of the expense platform, it would be nice if I could upload multiple expenses at once, and on occasion, I've had difficulty uploading receipts to the platform.

Timesheeting tool

Pros

I can keep track of a project in every aspect, such as status, budgets, and revenue. This tool synthesizes a lot of information in one place.

Cons

As an endpoint user (I am not an accountant), I find there are just a lot, sometimes too many, functionalities, and I realize some proper training on how to use them may be needed, and a routine of tracking, say weekly, can really help me capitalize on the benefits of the software.

Great evolution of product

Pros

I appreciate the cross-platform functionality, look and feel, integration of hubs, and the 'everything in one place' approach.

Cons

I can't yet sort timesheets, I'm missing the "pin the phases" in projects we used to have, and it's harder for me to look through certain features because they're all one rather than tabs.
