“extremely overpriced setup”
Pros
It can handle a large inventory upload but that's about the only benefit. There are far too many bugs and the pricing is outrageously high.
Cons
Small businesses should stay away from this. The setup and website integration costs are absurd. I paid $18k only to learn that most POS systems cost around $2k to set up and offer basically the same thing.

“Versatile POS”
Pros
Retail Pro is a flexible solution that fits the needs of Brazilian retail very well whether it's used in a single store or across chains and franchises. It follows local tax requirements and comes with a full promotions engine including coupon management and time-based promotions. There is also a fully customizable loyalty program with gifts, discounts and other rewards. In our experience the implementation process is practical and efficient.
Cons
Certain customizations still require specialized technical support which adds extra cost even if that pricing remains competitive within the market.

“not very user friendly”
Pros
It handles everything with minimal effort required from me. I've run into very few problems and when something did come up the support team was quick to step in and fix it. Considering how many features it offers it's a solid all in one option for a retail business. Paired with experienced business partners it gives you the tools needed to run a successful retail business. The interface is easy to move through for both administrators and regular users. Also the layout is organized in a way that makes the most of the available space while keeping item processing and display efficient.
Cons
The user information available through the portal feels limited and that was frustrating. The database recovery process especially on the main server can also take quite a while. Upgrading from an older version to a newer one becomes a long process too particularly if you're managing a lot of stores and POS systems. Overall the software works well but some of the more basic features could still be made a bit more user-friendly.

“support is nonexistent”
Pros
The reporting is very detailed and there are plenty of options available throughout the system.
Cons
Customer support is basically nonexistent. I'd stay away because over the past few years, we've been left completely stranded too many times with no help at all from our Retailpro partners or customer service.

“Ongoing costs add up more than expected”
Pros
I've been using Retail Pro v8.5 for many years and for the most part it has been a reliable system.
Cons
The biggest problem is the cost. It's far too expensive to keep up for a small business. I've been stuck with this software for years, unable to really update or upgrade anything. Moving to a different POS system is also difficult because I'd lose my historical data.

“expensive and frustrating setup”
Pros
Using this product was a terrible experience overall. The company that sold it to us was awful and a lot of the time I had to search up the issues myself and fix them manually.
Cons
It feels very rigid to work with and I need the exact product description just to find items. It's also expensive to maintain with license fees software costs, hardware expenses and network costs adding up.

“Inaccurate inventory data”
Pros
The interface is easy to use and the ability to manage multiple stores is useful.
Cons
Unfortunately it couldn't even calculate inventory accurately. Regional support is extremely slow and the local solution provider wasn't much help either. We spent more than a year trying to make it work and it kept miscalculating both the on-hand inventory and the actual inventory shown in reports. The upload tool is confusing and hard to use and it can create duplicate records that end up disrupting the product database. On top of that, the system is slow. After using it for over a year it became clear that either the product itself or the implementation was simply below standard.

“Core functions work fine but UI is outdated”
Pros
I like that stock entry is simple to manage. Their reports are useful and the back-end features cover a lot of day-to-day needs. The sales entry screen works well too. I can even customize buttons and use submenus to make my workflow more practical and efficient.
Cons
Old and dated interface. It's also missing some higher-end features. For example there's no cloud option and adding certain peripherals can be difficult.

“powerful retail platform”
Pros
Coming from Retail Pro version 8 and now working with Prism, I can see that the difference is massive in a good way. Prism is a distributed web-based store application which means each store in a multi-store chain can run its own Retail pro server. That setup is a big advantage for growing retail operations. Since it uses AngularJS on the front end, there's a lot of flexibility when it comes to customizing the interface so you can build your own look across the system throughout all modules. And it really does cover everything. Inventory, vendors and purchasing, transfers, customers, POS, physical inventory, inventory adjustments and customer loyalty. In other words it's a complete package. Another big plus is the global support network through their partners which gives a lot of peace of mind if you operate stores in different countries across the Americas, Europe, parts of EMEA, Asia and even some of Africa.
Cons
The price is really the only downside. I will say though that it's basically like paying Porsche money for a Porsche-level product. This is serious retail software built for serious retail businesses. It can still work for smaller companies too because it scales well so if you expect your retail business to grow it is definitely something worth investing in.

“Simple layout for easy navigation”
Pros
Navigation is simple for both my admins and everyday users since the layout makes good use of the screen space. It shows plenty of options without cluttering it or slowing down item processing.
Cons
Overall design feels like its stuck in the early days of POS software. It works well enough but the old Windows XP-style look could definitely be updated.

“easy to get started”
Pros
The free demo is especially helpful when training my newer staff. The CRM tools work really well for staying connected with long-term customers and the Android app performs reliably just like it does on other operating systems. I also appreciate the automatic inventory transfer since it makes linking different stores much more convenient. I was also satisfied with the proactive customer support team.
Cons
Even though the free demo is useful, offering a free trial would be an even better option. They could also add a few more features although I really have no complaints about the current functionality.

“sales data is well organized”
Pros
It automates billing and gives me a simple way to keep track of sales. Creating invoices and the entire billing process is quite simple. It also lets me save my customer database for marketing purposes. Stock management is also easy to maintain. Overall I'd say that the software is pretty user friendly.

“good fit for consignment shops”
Pros
Retail pro works well for a consignment store. It's fairly simple to use and the layout feels clean and simple.

“beginner friendly POS”
Pros
Navigating this system is very easy even for beginners who have never used a POS system before. I really enjoyed using it.
Cons
There's definitely a bit too much blue in the interface and the overall color scheme and design could use a refresh because it feels a little old-fashioned and not very pleasant to look at. It also seemed to run a little slower than some other POS systems I've used.

“Licensing process is a pain”
Pros
The software offers a lot of customization so settings can be adjusted however needed. The security permission controls are also set up well.
Cons
It is very slow. On client machines it can take around two minutes just to load. Another frustrating issue is that if the computer shuts down without closing Retail pro properly I have to reactivate the license before I can open it again.

“packed with retail features”
Pros
It covers just about everything you'd expect from a retail system, whether you run a physical storefront or an online shop with a really solid range of features and functionality.
Cons
My only real complaint is that I wish there were a wholesale version instead of it being focused strictly on retail. It would basically be the same platform, just with better support for quantity-based selling and bulk features.

“Powerful configuration options”
Pros
There is a lot of flexibility when it comes to customization and we really like that. EMV compatibility is another feature I really like. Retail pro's employee and customer management tools along with the reporting features are also very capable.
Cons
The preloaded report templates can't really be edited to fit our specific needs. There are also a few occasional glitches especially with preloaded cards although customer support is usually quick to respond and help resolve them.

“convenient offline backup”
Pros
Retail Pro is a cloud-based POS that handles transactions really well and the offline mode is especially useful when the internet goes down right when you need it. It also lets you print or save transactions which gives you more control over your records and accounting.
Cons
Customer support could be quicker especially since this system is used for handling money. Also, the platform is customizable but some of the reporting still feels like it's missing important details.

“Easy to set user rights”
Pros
Having both cloud-based and offline access makes this really convenient because I can check data from anywhere at any time while work still continues even when the internet is down. It integrated effortlessly with our existing accounting systems and software. The great customer support and pricing are other strong points. It's affordable enough that smaller businesses can opt for only the mobile version.
Cons
I don't like that not every piece of data can be retrieved. For example it can be difficult to confirm whether customers were charged the exact set amount or if they may have paid more. Aside from that it is still a worthwhile software to include in a business accounting setup.
