“reliable video platform for campus use”
Pros
Our college relies on this software for uploading videos through Dropbox and it has been excellent for that! The video hosting and streaming quality is very high which makes it especially useful in an educational setting. For recording and playback, it has been one of the most dependable tools available. It handles large files well and uploading them to Kaltura is easy. Considering everything it offers, it feels worth the price. Students can also use it in plenty of ways, whether for meetings, recorded lectures or class presentations.
Cons
The cost may feel high for some users but the wide range of features helps justify the price.

“powerful video tools”
Pros
It came with several features that worked really well for us especially the captioning, screen capture and its strong integration with our Learning Management System, D2L. The video and audio quality were also consistently clear which made the overall experience even better.
Cons
One thing we noticed was that many new users had trouble finding their way around the platform at first. Also, getting the learning management system integration set up properly takes some expertise and usually requires help from technical support.

“crisp private streaming standout”
Pros
This solution has been one of the best private streaming platforms I've used for delivering clear, buffer-free video.
Cons
Editing videos can be a bit challenging and some of the technical requirements are hard to understand when you're just getting started with the app.

“frustrating setup and constant bugs”
Pros
I was able to put together a video presentation and that ended up being the only real upside.
Cons
Right from the start it was a frustrating process just trying to figure out where to download the software. After I finally installed it, the program began launching itself every time I started my computer even though I never gave it permission to do that. On top of that, the interface is confusing and irritating to work with. It is also quite buggy and uploading a 10 minute video would sometimes take hours. In the end, I gave up completely and just recorded myself presenting on Zoom. Overall, it was a horrible experience.

“tough customization”
Pros
Kaltura comes with a broad set of features for video hosting, streaming and analytics which makes it a solid option for schools and businesses looking to improve how they deliver video content.
Cons
Where it struggles is customization. That part feels less accessible than it should be, even though it's such a basic need. Getting things set up often means dealing with complicated settings and configurations which can take a lot of time and comes with a steeper learning curve.

“excellent fit for class recordings!”
Pros
Using this software with Moodle made it very easy to upload and manage even very long class videos which helped me provide students with interactive access to recorded lessons without much hassle.
Cons
At times the upload speed was only average and every now and then (about one out of twenty uploads) I had to restart the video upload process.

“useful playback and topic albums”
Pros
The video content was helpful and pretty simple to move through. I liked being able to speed videos up to 2x or slow them down and organizing them into albums or topic-based chapters made it convenient to watch everything related to one subject.
Cons
The issue I dealt with most often was videos not loading properly. I'm still not sure whether that was a Kaltura problem or just network-related but it kept happening consistently even when I switched between different networks.

“Good platform for educators”
Pros
As an educator creating online courses this has been one of the most capable platforms I've used. It gives a lot of flexibility to record PowerPoint presentations along with webcam video and having both screens together is a huge benefit. The platform feels very professional and I haven't run into any glitches while using it.
Cons
Up to now I haven't noticed any issues with it at all. I've genuinely enjoyed using it and would definitely recommend it to others. Uploading and embedding videos is also very fast.

“versatile tool”
Pros
It offers a wide range of video solutions and was easy to deploy. It also integrated well with our existing setup.
Cons
Pricing is on the higher side which is pretty typical with academic quotes for platforms like this and still more than it should be.

“accurate captions for learning”
Pros
One thing that really helps is its auto generated closed captions. They're fairly accurate which makes the platform more practical to use and helps make content accessible for people across educational institutions worldwide.
Cons
At times the platform can feel a bit buggy. Videos sometimes pause at odd moments and I end up having to restart them.

“one-click recording with crisp clarity”
Pros
Using the desktop app feels very easy. It lets me record meetings with audio, video and even my screen in just one click. The output quality is excellent and I can upload everything directly to the server from within the application itself which is really convenient.
Cons
The desktop application is a bit resource heavy so it really needs a well configured machine to run properly. On lower-spec systems, it can slow everything down and make the computer hard to use while the app is running.

“works for class videos”
Pros
Uploading and embedding media with Kaltura has been really convenient. I used it several times to record, upload and embed videos for speech classes and the platform was fairly easy to use every time.
Cons
Even though it is user friendly and simple to navigate, I did run into some problems with embedding videos. Speech recordings would often take a while to upload or embed and there were times when they were delayed before becoming available to watch.

“dependable for everyday work”
Pros
The interface feels clean and easy so it's simple to navigate. Automated captioning is a really helpful feature and the integration with third-party players adds a lot of flexibility. It also performs consistently and doesn't crash which makes it dependable for regular use.
Cons
A limitation is that videos can't be downloaded as files. The support team could also be quicker and more responsive when users have questions and the published video link takes quite a while to generate.
