Scandit Use Cases
Based on our analysis of user feedback and Scandit features, we have identified the following key scenarios where it can be a good fit:
Warehouse Teams Working With Damaged Or Hard-To-Read Barcodes
Warehouse teams scan labels in poor lighting or deal with barcodes that are damaged during handling. Scandit supports barcode capture in these conditions and can be used across receiving, inventory, and distribution workflows. This makes it relevant for warehouses where scan reliability directly affects processing speed. Reliable scanning can help staff capture product information without repeatedly adjusting labels or retrying scans. This can reduce interruptions during stock intake and inventory checks, particularly in busy warehouse environments.
Retail Teams Managing Mobile Order Fulfillment
Retailers can use Scandit when store associates need to pick and process orders directly from smartphones or other supported devices. Its retail workflows cover inventory, picking, and order fulfillment without requiring teams to depend only on dedicated scanners. Mobile scanning lets associates check product information while moving through store aisles or preparing orders. This can help retailers coordinate picking tasks and inventory checks using devices they already have available.
Distribution Teams Handling High-Volume Scanning
Distribution teams may need to process large numbers of shipments while receiving, loading, or locating goods. Scandit supports multi-barcode scanning, OCR for unreadable codes, and AR-guided search across distribution workflows. Capturing multiple barcodes in one scan can reduce the need to process each label separately. These capabilities may help teams maintain scanning throughput when handling large volumes of packages and inventory.
Field Service Teams Tracking Parts Across Vans And Warehouses
Field technicians need to know whether the right parts are available before arriving at a job site. Scandit supports van stock counts, parts tracking, and AR-assisted search across field service workflows. This makes it relevant for teams trying to reduce time spent searching for equipment during warehouse checks, vehicle inventory, and service visits. Scanning parts during stock checks can help technicians update inventory records and verify item details. Better visibility into available parts can also support preparation for scheduled maintenance and service calls.
Air Travel Teams Managing Passenger And Baggage Scanning
Airlines and airport teams work with passports, boarding passes, baggage tags, and other documents under tight time constraints. Scandit supports passenger processing, baggage handling, and aircraft-related scanning from smart devices. This can help staff move through scanning tasks more efficiently across check-in, boarding, baggage handling, and related airport workflows. Mobile document capture can help staff verify passenger information without relying exclusively on fixed scanning equipment. Barcode scanning can also support baggage identification and tracking as bags move through airport handling processes.

Scandit Features
Shelf Intelligence And Execution
Scandit uses Vision AI to capture shelf conditions through smart devices, fixed cameras, or autonomous robots. The platform identifies availability issues and turns them into prioritized actions for store associates. Teams can use these insights to respond to stock gaps and keep shelf execution more consistent across locations.
Expiry Management And Markdowns
The platform helps retailers identify products approaching expiry and manage markdown activity within store workflows. It uses captured store data to surface items that need attention and guide follow-up actions. This gives teams a clearer way to handle near-expiry stock and reduce avoidable waste.
Intelligent In-Store Picking
Scandit supports store-based fulfillment by guiding associates through picking tasks with AR guidance and multi-barcode scanning. Users can locate products, process multiple orders, and organize items within the same workflow. This helps simplify in-store picking when teams are handling several customer orders at once.
Age Verified Self-Checkout
The platform lets shoppers verify their age through a smartphone during self-checkout. Vision AI performs age estimation on the device and requests an ID scan when needed. This reduces the need for staff intervention while keeping the verification process connected to the shopper’s checkout journey.
Self-Checkout Loss Prevention
The software uses real-time Vision AI to identify situations such as missed scans, barcode switches, walkaways, or items left in baskets. Shoppers can receive prompts to correct flagged actions themselves. Cases that need further review can then be escalated to store staff.

“Top support!”
Pros
Barcode capture is extremely fast and it keeps working reliably in all kinds of conditions including tricky lighting and even when codes are partially damaged. This software uses a smart focusing approach for detecting codes and that makes scanning noticeably faster than other similar tools we compared. Integrating the SDK was easy for us since we use the Capacitor SDK. Another big plus is the support from their team, they are very helpful and available whenever assistance is needed!
Cons
It's not really a major downside but the UX/UI side of the integration needs some careful planning. Because the capture is so fast there are moments when you barely have time to aim and the engine picks up the first code it sees. That said this can be handled pretty easily with something like a dedicated "Scan" button in the camera view. Also the technology is definitely priced at a premium. The quality of the solution and the support justify a lot of that but the licensing costs can be significant especially for small and mid sized companies.

“fast, accurate scanning power”
Pros
Right from the start the softwares barcode scanning stood out because of how fast and accurate it is even in difficult situations like low lighting, damaged barcodes or shiny reflective surfaces. Integrating it into the SHOPcloud360 e commerce platform was smooth which really showed how flexible and user friendly the solution is. It also works well across different devices including smartphones, making it a scalable option that feels reliable for the long term in retail. The mix of advanced features and dependable performance has been a real advantage for improving workflows and supporting better customer satisfaction.
Cons
Honestly there isn't much to complain about with this because it performs extremely well. At the beginning it was actually a bit too fast and occasionally caused accidental double scans. That said the issue was minor and was quickly fixed by adding a short delay during the setup.
