quick setup, hassle-free use

Pros

The set up is not complicated at all and using it day to day has been simple for both the accountant and the management team.

Cons

I don't really have any negative feedback about the program that would be useful for future users to know.

Creative Software

Pros

The software is affordable, anyone can get it. We were very pleased with this software, but because the church got merged with another church we gave up Aplos as they already had an accounting software which they purchased. Although, I am trying to bring them towards Aplos. Aplos is easy to use, and especially to those with no accounting background. It is on cloud, so easy to access.

Cons

It’s just that the reports do not give out the results that I want, I am kind of a selective person.

Fast reconciliation and helpful support

Pros

Entering transactions is simple and the duplicate entry option saves a lot of time. Reconciliation is quick to get through, customer service has been excellent and searching for specific transactions is simple.

Cons

When I switch between transactions and integrations, I have to keep checking that I'm still on the correct account because it doesn't stay on the one I was already working in. Also, when I record an online payment, it shows up in the check register and there's no way to remove it from that list.

fund tracking is helpful

Pros

It's helpful that you can always see exactly how much money is available in each fund.

Cons

There are quite a few bugs and it's missing some basic features like table sorting. Bringing in existing transactions is frustrating and a lot of the interface feels unuser-friendly. There are also two reporting versions with a lot of overlap so it's hard to tell which one is better for a particular task until you test both.

helpful reports and budgeting

Pros

Having access to guidance on applying for grants and bringing in board members has been really useful. It also gives me reports I can print directly for my board of directors, plus a way to generate letters for donors. The budgeting tools are helpful too since I can put together a budget and present it to the board without much extra work.

Cons

It took me quite a while to figure out and the system is not very user-friendly to learn. I still want to edit transactions but have not fully learned how and I am not even sure where to go to access those transactions for editing. I also do not feel confident about saving my work or knowing how to back it up properly. Because of that, I am still keeping all my transactions in Excel in case something gets recorded incorrectly in Aplos which means I am doing everything twice.

all the reports we need

Pros

Every report I need is there, including contribution reports for tax purposes. It only takes a click to have everything ready to review, sign and send out.

Cons

There are times when I get a little lost because the platform includes so many different reports.

Clean reports with helpful layout

Pros

The interface feels fairly clean and most of the reports come pretty close to what I need.

Cons

It still has bugs and amounts that should match don't always line up. On top of that, the price has tripled over the past three years.

Helpful breakdown, buggy setup

Pros

It gives us a clear breakdown of incoming funds and expenses which is useful for tracking everything in one place.

Cons

It doesn't really feel like a true church-focused program for church operations since you have to set up all the accounts yourself and just hope they're configured correctly or things won't process the way they should. Another frustration is that once you've used a number tied to a file you created, you can't delete that file afterward.

Helpful support and simple setup

Pros

The platform is simple to use and the tech support has been really cooperative whenever needed.

Cons

It's honestly tough to come up with complaints, though there have been a couple of times when I wanted specific items included in a report and couldn't pull them in.

Multiple-fund friendly and practical

Pros

Being multiple-fund friendly is a big bonus and recording contributions and expenses feels very simple.

Cons

Reporting has been a challenge, though that may be because I'm still figuring it out. I also wish there were a way to keep spouses together under a single contact.

Solid fund accounting platform

Pros

I find it easy to use thanks to its user-friendly setup. The fund-based accounting works really well and being cloud-based makes it convenient to access when needed. It also feels like a scalable option that can grow with an organization and the customer support has been top-notch.

Cons

I'd still like to see payroll integration built in. It would also be better if the reporting tools allowed for more customization.

Powerful reporting and support

Pros

Being online makes it really convenient and having multiple users access the system is a big plus. The reporting is excellent, the platform is simple to use and customer service has been consistently very helpful.

Cons

The Contacts module feels pretty limited. It would be much better if it included more contact management features like email, texting, grouping and tracking so there wouldn't be a need for separate software. Some of the other software has also been a little disappointing since it hasn't always worked properly and the way it integrates with Aplos can be confusing.

Its pretty user-friendly and doesn't take much effort to learn.

Cons
