GoCodes for construction asset management

Pros

We deal with the daily movement of expensive tools and equipment, and having a tracking system like GoCodes has made the process less chaotic.

Cons

The process of setting up and rolling out this program has consumed a lot of my time. I had to label every single piece of equipment and tools, and now I have the task of training the field staff on how to use the app. I asked my representative if there were any existing training resources like PowerPoint presentations or manuals, but they only directed me to YouTube videos that are more suitable for admin use rather than field use. It would also be great to have some resources available in Spanish, considering the high number of Spanish-speaking workers in the construction industry.

GoCodes, inventory tracking done right!

Pros

Setting it up was a piece of cake. The phone app works exceptionally well with the included barcodes. I like that ordinary users can scan the code and send admins a message to indicate they have the product.

Cons

Although it captures GPS data, it doesn't truly provide GPS tracking. The location recorded is based on the last scan, so if you move to another location, it doesn't update.

Lacks necessary functionality and requires technological improvements

Pros

The barcode scanning feature and mobile app are great.

Cons

Firstly, I can't attach documents, and the suggested alternative of using links isn't a valid solution as it puts the burden back on the end user. Secondly, the camera function needs significant improvement. The pictures are highly pixelated, and the auto crop function doesn't work well, requiring multiple attempts to get it right.

Great Tool to have

Pros

The ease of use and customization options were the selling points for us. It's very user-friendly, and we were able to customize it to fit our needs.

Cons

So far, I haven't come across any aspect that I dislike.

Sticker Issue

Pros

It's a great solution for tracking tools and devices like iPhones, iPads and more.

Cons

The only issue I've encountered is receiving stickers that we already have in our system and have already assigned to an item. It becomes frustrating, especially when we're in a rush.

Pros

The low inventory alert I receive when my inventory is running low is a game changer. Overall, it's incredibly easy to use!

Cons

I absolutely loved everything about the software. There isn't a single thing I didn't like. It successfully resolved 98% of our inventory challenges.

Great Product, could use a few tweaks to get it perfect

Pros

Sorting, grouping and accountability are not a problem anymore. The history logs are excellent, and the convenient conversion to Excel has revolutionized the way we track our equipment. Previously, we were managing over 300 items with an Excel spreadsheet.

Cons

I find it very annoying that I can't lock specific fields for different user types. It's either everyone has access to all fields or no access at all. This becomes problematic when certain fields need to remain unchanged while others require recurring updates. It also makes training people on the app more difficult because they're unsure which fields to modify since all fields are available. Additionally, the picture resolution could be significantly better.

Tools and Safety Equipment Inventory

Pros

GoCodes is extremely user-friendly. Even individuals with basic computer and smartphone knowledge can quickly learn how to use the entire system within a couple of hours. The product features are simple enough for me to easily navigate menus, update information, add photos and edit descriptions. We use it for all our tools, safety equipment and fleet vehicles.

Cons

The one feature I really wish I had is the ability to create "kits." For example, when we issue a tool kit to a carpenter, I have to individually add each tool to GoCodes and assign a keyword to easily locate each tool within that specific kit, without spending a lot of time searching. Having a dedicated "kit" feature would allow us to add entire kits with an attached inventory sheet listing all the tools included. So, if a carpenter is issued "Kit 1," I could simply search for "Kit 1," and all the tools would be displayed under that one kit.

Inventory tracking in ease

Pros

The UI is friendly, and even the overall product is mobile-friendly, flexible and customizable. We have also received great customer support.

Cons

Gocodes is a perfect fit for smaller companies, and the pricing is affordable. The only downside I can think of is the durability of the barcode stickers.

GoCodes is User Friendly once set up properly

Pros

Once it was properly set up, using it became so simple.

Cons

The setup process was a bit frustrating for us since we had a different inventory system. Additionally, the search feature still needs improvement. It would be helpful to receive monthly emails reminding us of any useful tutorials on using the system, ranging from basic to advanced.

Excellent inventory system

Pros

The app is simply amazing. It fulfills all my requirements quite nicely. I can easily conduct bulk inventory and update everything simultaneously. Making changes to a single field ensures that everything else remains the same. The website filters are fantastic. If your assets are properly named and consistent, the filters on the website make it so easy to precisely filter what you need.

Cons

The website has definitely improved with the recent update that retains field settings between logins. However, one thing I'd like to see (unless I'm overlooking it) is a way to bulk update asset information on the website. The current workaround is to have the website open, apply filters to display the desired items, and then click on the QR code icon next to each line while capturing it with my phone. While it's a decent workaround, it would be much more convenient to select multiple items and update them directly within the website.

Pros

Checking items in and out is hassle free, and I like the automated emails when the quantity reaches a low level. I also love the ability to generate inventory and order lists.

Cons

I find it inconvenient that I have to manually format reports to Excel each time. Additionally, I have to manually delete many fields, which takes up extra time. It would be great if I could create a template for my customized report and have it available with just one click in the future. Another task I have to do manually is calculating the order quantity minus stock quantity by entering a formula in Excel each time I prepare a material order. It would be really helpful to have this report automated. I also found it confusing that I could scan codes without logging in and was asked if the item belonged to me. There might be a reason for it, but it seems odd to have it at the first level. Lastly, as far as I know, the label format options are only available in the US.

Protect your assets by tracking

Pros

The setup process was easy, and the support team was very helpful when we had a few initial misunderstandings. The customer service is excellent.

Cons

We required some additional features for our specific needs, but we managed fine manually until we established an electronic process.

Pros

Maintaining our equipment is much easier with this tool. It's helpful to monitor where it was last scanned.

Cons

Scanning in limited light can be challenging, and the scan sticker often has difficulty staying on our frequently used landscape equipment.

Great for on the go assets

Pros

The download process is quick, and they provide all the tags for your equipment. If your assets get lost, it's easy for someone who finds them to return them to you.

Cons

While it may not be a standalone asset management tool, the features and usability outweigh that limitation.

Managing iPads

Pros

The online activation and tracking features are excellent. As a rental business owner, checking assets in and out is quick and simple compared to the time-consuming manual method I used before. Adding new assets is also very easy once you get the hang of it.

Cons

I haven't been able to fully understand the depreciation reports, but since that wasn't the main reason I purchased the tags, it doesn't matter to me. Also it would be nice to have a feature that allows for multiple activations, where only the serial number of the asset needs to be changed.

Meets Expectations

Pros

GoCodes does an outstanding job of meeting my expectations in creating a database for physical assets. The app is extremely user-friendly, making it easy to check items in and out, add photos, and create fields. There's minimal delay between holding the camera over the code and it recognizing and reading it. The search functionality on the site works wonderfully too. I can search for specific keywords within any available asset field, making it a convenient secondary reference method.

Cons

In my opinion, the site feels a bit outdated. It would greatly benefit from a modern facelift that aligns more with the standards of 2018/19. Also I would like to have the option to create secondary databases, specifically where I can easily search for a particular type of asset and check its status. Additionally, having customizable views and dashboards that I can share internally with other departments would be a valuable feature.

Held my inventory list hostage

Pros

The concept is fantastic, but it seemed like they didn't offer services for smaller businesses like ours.
