“Easy setup and handy app

Pros

It is pretty easy to get started and the mobile app makes managing things on the go really convenient.

Cons

From my use, the free tier offers very few functionalities which felt overly restrictive.

I like that the interface is so user-friendly. When I was first learning my role, my trainer didn't need to show me how to navigate the Wave app because it made everything easy enough for me to pick up quickly.

Cons

There are times when pressing the numeric buttons doesn't register. For instance, if an automated call says press 1 for the nurse or press 2 for dispatch, I might hit 1 and it won't register that input. Also, my employer recently moved us to a different app and they said the change was necessary because of HIPAA compliance.

Being able to manually upload bank statements instead of connecting a bank account was useful and I could also add photos of my expense receipts.

I ended up being charged extra to attach receipt images to my expense entries, a capability that used to be included at no cost. Also, the automatic transaction import when I linked my bank account never functioned forcing me to spend a lot of time manually uploading statement files.

We've had awful support. We use their invoicing feature and our payouts have been stuck on hold for weeks, every time we're told to wait. We've already sent every form of identification and required documents yet they haven't offered any resolution.

The cashflow charts and transaction breakdowns are a real help when I am keeping track of our money.

Unfortunately, one of our bank accounts doesn't sync with Wave so I find the app a lot less useful for our bookkeeping.

For my needs, the free tier includes everything required to maintain precise, current accounting records and workflows. It even supports invoicing in foreign currencies, a feature I rarely see offered in other free accounting platforms or services.

Honestly I don't really have anything to complain about, the free version seems very generous in what it offers. My hope is that Wave will continue to keep it available!
