Simple clock in and out

Pros

I really like how simple Workday makes clocking in and out as it is easy. And beyond being a good time clock tool, requesting time off is also incredibly quick and easy.

Cons

Having used it every day I cannot really point to anything I dislike about it. There was one update that forced me to learn a new layout and how to get around the app again but it was only a small annoyance.

Complex training packages lack support

Pros

When Workday's learning system works properly it handles training modules reliably and as expected. I also like that it tracks key details for training records and it's clear that it is actively improving its learning tools. As someone focused on training I like how the platform keeps evolving to let people like me better customize learning programs.

Cons

I have had issues when it tries to run more complex training packages that track completion through quizzes with multiple attempts. I went back and forth with their support team several times but they did not offer a fix only suggested I revisit how the training package was set up.

All data reports in one place

Pros

What I like is being able to run reports across different types of data like compensation, learning, talent and turnover all in one place.

Cons

Getting up to speed with report writing took longer than I expected and people rarely emphasize how much time the learning curve demands. However once I mastered it, the tool became a total game changer for me.

Central visibility for all tasks

Pros

It is really helpful to have one central place for all HR tasks that too with clear visibility into how long each one takes and the ability to track them easily while they're in progress.

Cons

Often I find it is really tough getting our customers to actually pay attention to notifications so having more flexibility to customize alerts would be a big help.

Excellent value with easy navigation

Pros

I found it excellent value for the price and the user interface was a pleasure to use. it's also very easy for me to navigate between the different modules.

Cons

Support from customer service was pretty much unavailable so I had to rely on my own knowledge to troubleshoot the problems I ran into.

Customizable platform keeps data consolidated

Pros

As an Admin I find Workday HCM extremely customizable yet still under my control. Compared with other platforms I have dealt with, I am genuinely able to shape our Workday tenant to match what I want and what the business requires. That flexibility lets us meet our specific business needs without buying a heavily tailored solution that's too difficult or costly to support. I also really appreciate having all employee information from benefits to time off, payroll and more consolidated in a single system. That consolidation makes our HR data flow smoothly to the downstream teams that rely on it on a daily basis.

Cons

From time to time I struggle to understand the art of the possible just by looking at our implementation. In my experience many organizations launch with a minimal configuration and afterwards it's difficult to figure out the next steps or how to expand capabilities.

Playful interface covers all processes

Pros

Actually I like that it doesn't feel boring for the end user as it's more playful and visually fancier compared with many other HRIS platforms. I find several modules very easy to navigate and overall it's incredibly helpful for handling HR workflows, able to cover nearly every HR process directly inside the system.

Cons

For my team reporting is a pain point as it's hard to trace where the trended worker data actually comes from and combining different datasets or sources isn't simple. Building executive dashboards is complicated so we often resort to Power BI exports which means moving sensitive information out of the platform. We also hit security constraints when working with matrixed organizational structures.

Clean layout enables effective navigation

Pros

Workday HCM is good because its clean, user friendly layout and smooth user flow make it easy for me and my HR colleagues and other employees across the company to navigate and use effectively.

Cons

A recurring weekly downtime was one frustrating issue I ran into with Workday HCM and it seriously hurt both my productivity and overall experience using the system.

Easy to learn software

Pros

It's clear to me that practically anyone can pick up Workday from an HRIS standpoint although mastering it takes years of training and hands-on experience. As a regular end user, I have found it quite useful for organizing and managing data.

Cons

Creating calculated fields is a real headache as I routinely spend hours upon hours trying to assemble a calc field and just hope it ends up working correctly.

smooth navigation with community support

Pros

Using Workday Community along with Success Plan support, I have found it much quicker and more insightful to dig into bugs, fixes and feature improvements. The interface feels user friendly so I can back up virtually any part of Workday without hitting major snags as the core setup stays uniform across modules and business processes rely on the same underlying structures, objects and instances. Because everything's so interconnected, navigating and maintaining the system feels genuinely seamless in my experience.

Cons

There's honestly very little that bothers me about the product. If I had to pick one area that's weakest, it would be the Benefits module particularly the reporting side which I find clunky and limited compared to the rest of the platform.

Centralized interface saves admin time

Pros

Workday HCM has made HR tasks so much easier for me as I love that everything is centralized and the interface feels uesr friendly. Its self-service capabilities shave off a lot of admin time and the mobile app is really handy when I need to check my pay or put in a time-off request from anywhere, any time.

Cons

Sometimes I find the navigation a bit confusing. Things that should be simple like finding the right leave field or switching between views can take more clicks than expected which slows me down on routine tasks.

Mobile enrollment with strong security

Pros

The Employee Self-Service tools the BPM capabilities and the strong security framework is my fav. what stands out most to me is the Open Enrollment feature in the mobile app.

Cons

From my experience getting tasks done as an end user often requires clicking through far too many buttons so I think they need to focus on enhancing the overall usability.

Clean interface with machine learning

Pros

Its clean user interface, the way it supports flexible business processes, the helpful machine-learning suggestions and the unified, scalable platform is something I like about it.

Cons

In my experience the mobile app though improving isn't yet on par with the browser experience and I have found customization and reporting can be limited, often forcing me to buy extra modules like Prism or Extend which end up being quite costly.

Highly customizable for compliance needs

Pros

I am really impressed with how much can be customized. We can configure all the elements our organization needs to monitor compliance, manage documents, oversee HR, run payroll and support learning and talent development.

Cons

Regarding communication I wish there were more ways to reach and engage our end users. The UI remains my team's highest priority and although Workday has been improving the experience, I believe there is still a significant amount more that could be achieved within employee and manager self-service by applying AI capabilities more broadly and smarter across the entire platform.

Great visibility with self-service features

Pros

The self-service features and the end-user experience was great. in my past work we never had that level of visibility with our former provider.

Cons

While the platform's extensive configurability makes it adaptable across many industries, in my experience that flexibility means we must either cultivate internal super users or pay for external development support.

Smooth fluid interface with support

Pros

Everything runs incredibly smoothly and feels very fluid to me. The interface is extremely user-friendly and I can reach support whenever I need assistance. I can also pull reports without hassle and confirm that documentation stays accurate and current.

Cons

I do get frustrated at times by the way it organizes folders and stores important files for end users. Other than that organizational quirk, I haven't encountered any other problems.

User-friendly team adopted without training

Pros

What I really appreciated about Workday is how user-friendly it felt. My team could pick it up and start using it with ease which was great because I didn't need to spend time training everyone on how it works.

Cons

Honestly there's nothing major I disliked about it. If I had to point out one thing, it's that the mobile app needs a strong internet connection to load which can make it tricky to use when I am away from good reception.

No glitches at reasonable price

Pros

Using it has been a breeze and I have never run into problems as no crashes or glitches like I have seen with other programs. It's also reasonably priced. After years of using Workday's offerings, this ranks among my go-to HR tools and one of my top favorites.

Cons

What bothers me is that if I need to change the worker type on a requisition, there isn't a way to edit it directly so I have to basically exit the whole process and start a brand-new requisition from scratch which is annoying.

Better than workforce management alternative

Pros

In my experience it performs noticeably better than other solutions I have tried in the past. most recently I used WorkForce Management and I found that product to be pretty unfriendly and hard to use.

Cons

The interface can feel clunky and it often seems crowded with too many separate apps. Editing employee hours and approving time could be made much more user friendly.
