helpful tools for self-managed books

Pros

The do-it-yourself setup is really well designed and the extra tools make it much easier for someone without a strong accounting background to organize the key information needed for financial statements.

Cons

It comes with plenty of useful features and practical solutions but without a free walkthrough or a well-known learning academy showing people how to get started, it can lose appeal for new and inexperienced self-employed users who do not have a lot of motivation or patience for accounting.

flexible reports and handy app

Pros

Using it day to day is really fun and the mobile app is really convenient. There's also plenty of flexibility when it comes to building reports and dashboards.

Cons

A few parts of the interface do feel a little dated visually.

Simple invoicing and tax time

Pros

Managing invoices is easy and it does a really good job of tracking payments and handling bank reconciliations. It also makes tax season super simple.

Cons

Payroll can be a bit complicated especially when you need to temporarily offboard someone, like for parental leave. It's also quite expensive and the price just seems to keep going up.

clean interface and navigation

Pros

Using Xero has been a pleasure. As the interface is easy to use and everything is laid out clearly which makes navigation very simple.

Cons

The part I liked least is the pricing structure since it can get quite expensive as you add more users.

awkward reports

Pros

Being online makes it really convenient to use across multiple computers and it also integrates well with my CPA.

Cons

Its reports seems confusing and odd and the titles were strange too.

automation that saves time

Pros

Routine accounting work is much more manageable with Xero because the workflow automation cuts down on repetitive tasks. It also does a great job of matching receivables, POS transactions and invoices which helps catch discrepancies quickly before vendor payments go out.

Cons

One thing that feels a bit limiting is that it doesn't offer enough functionality for large global enterprises. That said it can still connect with external CRM and ERP platforms through integrations.

Offers mobile access

Pros

It is easy to use, also the interface is clean and user friendly so even someone with limited accounting experience can get comfortable quickly. It connects with almost every app and bank I need which makes syncing data much faster and helps cut down on manual mistakes. I can also set up recurring invoices and keep an eye on finances in real time. Having the mobile app is a big plus too since it lets me manage things directly from my phone.

Cons

The reporting features could definitely offer more customization to better match specific business needs. Even though the platform includes a lot of useful tools some of the more advanced functions take a bit of learning especially for people who are not already familiar with accounting software. Pricing also feels a little high for smaller organizations, particularly if they only need the basic features.

handy expense tracking on the go

Pros

Having the mobile app makes it convenient to handle recurring accounting tasks while I am away from my desk. It's also helped our organization cut down on fraud by giving us better control over expense management and tracking.

Cons

Pros

Managing expenses at every stage is very easy, with useful notifications along the way and adding new receipts and details is not a problem anymore.

Cons

Setting up a login takes a bit longer because verification requires a separate phone app. I understand the security reason behind it but it still slows the initial setup.

Poor support when issues hit

Pros

Data entry takes less time and being cloud-based means there's no need to worry about backups or software updates.

Cons

Support is extremely limited and doesn't offer real solutions. When something goes wrong, you're basically left to deal with it on your own.

Bookkeeping that just works

Pros

For small business bookkeeping and accounting, Xero has been a really great option. It's a reliable solution that makes managing the numbers much simpler and the platform itself is easy to use.

Cons

user friendly with stellar support

Pros

One of the most user friendly accounting tools I have used and the 24/7 support team has been fantastic whenever help is needed.

Cons

It's quite expensive. Switching from one VAT scheme to another can also cause confusion and users may end up paying more VAT than they actually owe because of system miscalculations.

Pros

Xero software is very easy to use because the interface is clean and user friendly, whether you're completely new to it or already experienced with accounting software. The pricing is also quite affordable which makes it a practical option for small businesses that want a low-cost head start.

Cons

A few areas especially inventory management, don't have the same advanced capabilities you get with some other accounting platforms. Customer support can also be a bit slow at times which can interrupt the workflow when technical problems come up.

reliable accounting automation

Pros

Highly automated

Pros

The biggest advantage is how easy it is to use. You definitely don't need to be a trained accountant to work with it and if you are one, the system is even more useful because there's so much you can automate.

Cons

Support can be a bit slow when it comes to the initial ticket response although after they reply, any follow-up questions are handled pretty quickly.

Free access from anywhere

Pros

Having it available at no cost is a huge plus and it lets me pull up information fast. I can also handle financial transactions right from my phone which is much more convenient than needing to use a laptop.

Cons

I really don't have any complaints. being free already outweighs any minor concern I could think of.
