bookkeeping and cash flow clarity

Pros

We use Xero for bookkeeping, accounting, payroll and keeping track of the company's cash flow. It has really improved how organized our books are and made the work much more manageable.

Cons

The only downside is that the pricing can feel a bit high for beginners who are just starting their business.

Accounting tool that delivers

Pros

After using Xero for my business over the last few years, I can honestly say it has been a real game changer. The interface is user friendly which makes it simple to stay on top of the company's finances and pull reports whenever I need them. Its bank account integration has been smooth as well so importing transactions and reconciling accounts takes very little effort. On top of that the mobile app makes it really convenient to check financial information while I am away from my desk.

Cons

One thing I have noticed is that there are a few inconsistencies in the UI, likely because it is in the process of rolling out a new design. Hopefully that gets polished up soon.

fast reports and organized workflow

Pros

Getting through accounting records takes only a few minutes and the whole system is very simple to use. It also speeds up financial report preparation which makes the work much more efficient.

Cons

I haven't come across any missing features. Everything in the app feels well organized and put together.

too expensive for my budget

Pros

Cons

It is very user friendly. The interface is clean and simple to move around in which helps a lot when handling financial work like invoicing, tracking expenses and running reports. It makes those day to day accounting tasks more efficient. Another big plus is its integration with other business tools, including widely used apps like Google Drive and Dropbox. That makes it easier to manage data and share information across teams and departments.

Cons

One limitation is that even though it covers accounting well, it may still fall short for some businesses that need more specialized features. For instance, it does not offer the same level of advanced functionality for inventory management or project management that some other platforms provide.

Real-time collaboration

Pros

Xero's reporting tools are one of its biggest strengths. I can quickly create detailed financial reports that give me a clear view of how my business is doing. Being able to work with my accountant in real time has also saved a lot of time.

Cons

The API has room for improvement since the token needs to be refreshed pretty frequently.

User friendly software

Pros

Everything is very user friendly and easy to use. The database is excellent and features like instant payments and automatic reminders make managing things much simpler for me.

Cons

Honestly it's been very good overall. If I had to point out anything, I'd say I'd like a bit more flexibility to customize invoices but it really hasn't been a major issue.

clear expense tracking and invoicing

Pros

Managing day to day expenses is really important when you're on your own and Xero has been a big help with that. It lets me claim bills, pay them, send invoices and handle bank reconciliation all in one place. As I keep using it, I am also starting to explore more of the features Xero offers. I am still learning but it has already been very useful in helping me stay on top of my daily expenses and understand them with much more clarity. I'd definitely recommend this application to others.

Cons

Honestly I still need to learn more about the software because it includes a lot of useful features that take time to understand properly. It would be even better if it provided tutorials covering all of the features available along with the software.

Pros

Using it day to day is very hassle free because the learning curve is low so pretty much anyone can pick it up quickly. The interface is user friendly and it's also simple to customize based on what you need.

time-saving automated reporting

Pros

Moving from manual reporting to this automated, user friendly tool has been a big improvement. It's very practical and convenient and it saves a lot of time on everything from posting entries to preparing reports.

Cons

The part I like least is that I sometimes run into errors after new updates are released. The newer layout for reports and bills can also be misleading at times which makes it easier to miss important details. On top of that the interface isn't very comfortable to look at especially for someone with poor eyesight like me.

Simplifies banking and tax workflow

Pros

Xero is a great tool because the interface is so user friendly. Filing taxes is much less of a hassle and the import tools for bank data, contacts and other information make setup and data entry really simple. Even without much prior experience, the layout is easy to understand and navigate. As a cloud-based accounting system for small to mid-sized businesses, it's one of the better options I have seen. It doesn't take long to learn and the bank integration is especially well done. The bank feed connection in particular stands out as one of the best examples I have come across.

Cons

That said the payroll and spending areas seem a bit confusing compared with how polished the rest of the platform is. Handling overpayments and unallocated funds can also be difficult since it pushes you to assign them to an invoice which makes the process feel uneven. Pricing is another concern for us. It's a little expensive and when you're running a new business, cost matters a lot in the early stages. Aside from that, things are generally fine.

Pros

The interface is clean and user friendly so moving around the system and getting things done is very stress free. Also it has some genuinely helpful proactive features that take a lot of the effort out of accounting.

Cons

One thing I do wish is that we could use it across our other businesses as well but without manufacturing features it just isn't a fit for those operations.
