“flexible accounting that scales”
Pros
This software is very easy to use and using it day to day makes it much easier to keep small business accounting organized with the basic package alone. It also has plenty of room to grow as the business expands, thanks to the range of features available for larger operations. The customization options are simple to work with and the platform feels very flexible overall.
Cons
The payroll tools work well overall but they can be a bit more challenging to manage when dealing with contractor or casual employees.

“So far so good”
Pros
Coming from a tech background, ease of use usually is not a big factor for me but this software is genuinely user friendly. Plus it is simple to navigate and find your way around, while still offering plenty of power at the same time.
Cons
I mainly use it for invoicing and for getting purchase order numbers so I can place orders with suppliers and honestly I do not have any complaints.

“helpful training resources and quick links”
Pros
Getting started with Xero was encouraging because the web interface is well designed and the quick links they provide to new users are genuinely helpful. As someone aiming to become a bookkeeping assistant, I also appreciate that they make finance, business and abbreviated terminology available through their SharePoint and website which makes learning easier.
Cons
The training course for new users feels too fast-paced, with too many examples that do not really apply to every user. It would be much better if the practice activities stayed focused on one type of business instead of mixing everything together. One activity might use transactions from a metal company, then the next shifts to CRM and so on. Compared with QuickBooks which stays with one lawn care service scenario throughout the activities, its approach is more confusing because I have to keep switching from one company context to another.

“granular reporting options”
Pros
There are plenty of granular settings available which makes it possible to build very detailed reports.
Cons
Like most accounting software, the results really depend on the effort you put into it. If you take the time to properly set up your chart of accounts and financial processes, it can become a very powerful tool for reporting and financial analysis.

“reliable bank feeds and integrations”
Pros
One of the biggest advantages of Xero for our mid-sized accounting firm has been how simple it is to bring data in. It handles multiple bank feeds consistently well and the open API makes it compatible with a wide range of add-on apps which has been really valuable for us.
Cons
Since it's not a highly technical piece of software, it can occasionally seems a bit less powerful when it comes to making changes to previously entered information. That said the issue can be managed by locking accounting periods as you just need to remember to set that up.

“fast invoicing and strong performance”
Pros
One thing that really stands out is the invoice history and the speed of the software is brilliant as well. Everything runs quickly which makes day to day use much better.
Cons
One area that could use some improvement is inventory management. At times the system does not show an error when inventory drops into negative numbers.

From day one Xero has been a very user friendly tool to work with. The interface looks appealing, creating invoices is simple and it also helps me keep track of many other business activities. On top of that it offers really good value for the money and the customer support has been very helpful whenever needed.

“fantastic for daily accounting”
Pros
Running Xero for our SME has been really easy. It's simple to use, links well with multiple banks and makes reconciling our different business accounts much easier. We also rely on it for sending invoices, tracking them and checking outstanding amounts every day, both money owed to us and bills we still need to pay.
Cons
The only minor problem we've had is with advance payments to suppliers through currency accounts but that's quite specific to how we operate. Other than that, there's very little to complain about.

Pros
Compared with other options, Xero gives access to unlimited accounting tools at a very reasonable price. It's also really helpful that it matches purchase orders, accounts and invoices making it easier to catch any discrepancies before paying vendors.

“fantastic support and simple setup”
Pros
Xero is pretty easy to use. Like even as a beginner, you can teach yourself without much trouble, thanks to their very helpful guides and webinars. Their support team has also been outstanding whenever I have needed help as detailed answers always come back very quickly.
Cons
One limitation for me is invoicing when a customer has one billing address but several different delivery locations. It's important to show the correct delivery address and right now I have to type it manually into the invoice body as a workaround. In other systems I have used before, I could save multiple delivery addresses under one invoice address and simply choose the right one each time so I'd really like to see it offer that as well.

“practical payroll and superannuation”
Pros
Getting started with Xero didn't take much effort at all. Even without formal training, I was able to pick it up quickly and understand how everything worked. It's a practical and user friendly tool especially when it comes to handling Australian payroll and superannuation.
Cons
It is better suited to small and medium-sized businesses. While it definitely has strong usability benefits, using it for a large-scale company would likely be much more challenging.

“Save time and effort”
Pros
The system is very easy to use and a few of the more advanced features genuinely save a lot of time for users.
Cons
A few parts could really use more customization options. There are definitely areas where we feel restricted especially when trying to tailor reports and ledgers to better match our needs and industry. We can work around it but having that extra flexibility would be a big plus.

“reliable accounting with handy automation”
Pros
It's one of the better accounting platforms I have used especially with its basic inventory tracking, automated bill handling and receipt capture. The bank reconciliation feature also works really well and adds a lot of value.
