“Affordable accounting tool”
Pros
Xero is easy to use and the pricing is very appealing. It also integrates well with other tools we rely on like Expensify which makes the workflow much more efficient. The reporting features are also quite good although it would be even better if users had more flexibility to create or customize reports on their own when needed.
Cons
Customer support is lacking. Troubleshooting and training are handled mostly through the online community and the ability to build custom reports is somewhat limited.

“bank sync and invoicing shine”
Pros
Its bank and PayPal integration was a highlight for me. Plus it connected everything without hassle and kept my balances updated automatically. Sending invoices was also very easy and I appreciated being able to link those invoices directly to PayPal or Stripe for payments.
Cons
That said the reconciliation workflow just didn't work for me. Unlike QuickBooks and the usual method of doing a monthly reconciliation against a bank statement, It doesn't really offer that kind of feature. As soon as a transaction is matched, it's treated as reconciled so there's no way to close out the month and review everything again. I ended up going back to QBO because I needed that functionality.

“clean interface, huge help”
Pros
Stepping into the finance and accounting side of my job recently felt a lot less overwhelming because of this software. The interface and overall design are really well done and all the pieces that make up Xero help simplify the work a ton. It has genuinely made my day to day tasks much more manageable.
Cons
Quite a few shortcuts and features are not immediately obvious. I ended up needing a training session with an accountant to fully understand how everything works.

“bank integration and simple VAT tools”
Pros
I signed up for Xero when I needed accounting software for my business. The half‑price trial made me try it and the automatic bank connection made it even more appealing as it kept everything simple. Since I am not an accountant that feature was especially useful. I could also manage VAT returns and year‑end accounts without needing much specialist knowledge.
Cons
Honestly there wasn't much about the software that I disliked. Any trouble I ran into felt more related to me being a beginner than to the tool itself. For example, entering some expenses took longer than it probably should have because I wasn't always completely confident I was doing it right but I wouldn't really put that on the software. The guidance and help were there when I needed them.

“Could be better!”
Pros
One thing I'd definitely praise about Xero is that it comes with advanced features for project accounting and financing. I also really appreciate how well it handles tracking cash inflow and outflow.
Cons
Integrating it with outside programs can be difficult especially without some IT knowledge.

“smart bank recs and helpful updates”
Pros
After more than a decade working with accounting platforms as both an accountant and a bookkeeping business owner, I was genuinely interested when Xero came onto the scene. It has carved out a strong niche with a very business-focused interface and a clean, simple feel that actually makes accounting a bit more enjoyable for business owners. The way bank reconciliation is handled is a real standout and it makes collaboration between the business owner and the accountant or bookkeeper much better. The comments feature is really useful and the rules for recurring transactions save a lot of time. I also appreciate the balance in the AI within bank reconciliation. It steps in and allocates transactions when needed but it is not overly aggressive so you are not constantly reversing automatic matches like you sometimes have to do with other software such as MYOB. On top of that they provide plenty of resources for both business owners and finance professionals and they keep improving the software with regular updates to stay current.
Cons
The biggest downside is definitely the cost. A lot of my clients see the monthly subscription as too expensive for their business and that has been a real barrier for some of them. Aside from pricing, the other issue is support. The last time I needed help, support was only available through email and as far as I know there is still no direct phone support line in Australia. That means you have to wait for the back-and-forth over email first and only sometimes does it move to a call if the issue cannot be sorted out that way. As a result, problems can take longer to resolve than they should.

“accounting made effortless”
Pros
Ever since I started using Xero, it's been a fantastic tool. Bank reconciliation, automatic invoicing, turning accepted quotes into invoices and expense tracking have all been very useful. When it comes to VAT returns, balance sheets, P&L and the rest, it makes the whole accounting side feel incredibly easy.
Cons
The only tiny thing I can think of is that recurring expenses would probably save me an extra minute or two each month but it's such a small issue that it barely feels worth bringing up.

“well-built and reliable platform”
Pros
Right from the start my impression was very positive because before I even needed to sign up for access, I had the chance to try a free demo and see what it would be like to use Xero as support for my business. It is very well designed, with an organized system that works properly both on desktop and in the mobile app.
Cons
One criticism that really matters for anyone looking for management software is language support. We all know that handling the financial side and other parts of a business, even a small one, is already a big job and it becomes even more challenging when the software does not offer support in our own language. That is my main issue with it, the lack of an option for my language.

“powerful tools for accounting”
Pros
A really strong set of features is included, like bank reconciliation, quoting, invoicing, automatic reminders and the option to share access with an accountant.
Cons
Getting started with it is very difficult and quite stressful. It also feels far too expensive for sole traders and really needs a plan that suits them better. There are too many unexpected outages during the year, no proper way to export data offline for backup or long-term archiving and the expense tracking could be improved for non-bank accounts such as transport cards where travel costs need to be claimed.

“helpful collaboration, pricey monthly cost”
Pros
One thing that worked really well was the ability for my clients to log in and update income and expenditure in real time while I was making changes too. That made collaboration much better and let us work together efficiently.
Cons
The downside is the pricing which feels too high for what the software actually offers. At PS29+VAT per month, it made it hard for me to maintain a decent profit on my bookkeeping services.

“Live stock tracking win”
Pros
One thing that really works well is how Xero integrates with other systems. It syncs with our bank feed which helps keep the accounts aligned and up to date. It also supports our stock checking process, automatically reducing inventory when product invoices are approved.
Cons
Support feels too impersonal. Getting in touch with an actual person can be pretty difficult.

“broken workflows and poor support”
Pros
There are a few useful features in the platform but sadly they're outweighed by the weaker parts.
Cons
This software has so many problems that it's difficult to know where to begin. Getting in touch with support is nearly impossible so if something goes wrong, you may be stuck with the issue for a very long time, if not permanently. VAT return periods cannot be locked which means someone can change an invoice or bill or even add a new one into a previous VAT period and that completely throws everything off. Stock handling is also flawed because there's no way to set a future arrival date. As soon as you create the order, the system assumes the stock is already available. It also won't let you save two customers with the same name and the suggested fix is to add a special character to one of them which is honestly absurd. Delivery notes and packing slips are missing too. They promote a workaround but it adds exactly 10 extra clicks so it's not realistic if you actually need that function regularly. Sending documents is another frustrating process. After preparing one, you have to save it, wait for the save to finish, get taken back to the main screen, click back into the document and only then send it. If you send it directly, it goes out as a draft. On top of that the invoice, quote and calendar tools are glitchy and very hard to edit. This happens across all browsers and even in incognito so it's clearly the editor itself. When you open a contact account, the system puts open documents at the top even when they're outdated quotes so invoices, quotes and payments all end up mixed together and hard to sort through. The design here is extremely poor. To make matters worse, even creating a draft invoice uses up a sequential invoice number which completely disrupts numbering sequences.

“flexible invoice templates for global events”
Pros
Handling invoice templates is very easy which matters a lot from an accounting perspective. It was especially useful while working in the event industry across different countries, where I needed separate templates depending on the event location because accounting requirements and VAT rules varied from one country to another.
Cons
At the time I used it, there wasn't a clear way to tell whether a bill had been automatically reconciled, at least with the Singapore account. Because of that, the accounting team had to handle the reconciliation manually.

“constantly improving accounting platform”
Pros
I have been with Xero since it first launched in the early 2000s and it has been an excellent product from the start. The team behind it is fantastic and over the years I have watched the platform keep evolving. I really appreciate how they're always introducing improvements and continuing to make it better.
Cons
Honestly I don't have any real complaints. Whenever we suggest changes or mention features we'd like to see, those updates usually end up being implemented.

“user friendly accounting with clear visuals”
Pros
The platform is easy to use, budget-friendly and makes it simple to connect with the accountant in real time. The graphics are also clear which helps a lot when reviewing information.
Cons
One downside is that suggestions supported by lots of users don't always get implemented. Instead some ideas that feel a bit pointless seem to get prioritized just because they come across as more tech-forward.
