“missing support and ignored requests”
Pros
At a glance it seems appealing enough. But the moment you need anything beyond the basics like bank feeds, preferred credit card processors or charging interest on overdue invoices it really starts to break down. What makes it worse is that several of those features were requested more than 8 years ago and there still hasn't been any response.
Cons
There's no email support, no phone support and no real way to request important features or get them added.

“powerful automation and reporting”
Pros
The biggest advantage here is the automation and reporting tools. It includes features like Find and Recode to fix multiple incorrect entries at once and there are plenty of add-ons that connect well with other software. The range of reports is also extensive and practice partners get access to even more report options that are ready for external reporting.
Cons
Pricing feels a little steep especially for small businesses or freelancers. The lowest plan starts at $20 and only includes 5 invoices, 5 bills and 20 bank transactions which is a limit that can be reached pretty quickly.

“handy financial control for small businesses”
Pros
It lets a small business keep track of income and expenses while also producing complete financial statements without much hassle.
Cons
Like any accounting platform, it relies heavily on the accuracy of the data entered so the accounting inputs need to be correct.

“practical and complete accounting”
Pros
Xero is really easy to use and the Chargebee integration makes it especially practical to use. Importing bank statements is simple and there are plenty of reporting options available which makes day to day accounting much more convenient.
Cons
I have really enjoyed using it and honestly wouldn't change or add anything. It feels like a very complete solution for accounting needs.

“xero is a standout choice”
Pros
Honestly if you haven't used Xero yet, you're really missing out. It's amazing software that's incredibly simple to learn and get comfortable with. I have been using it for more than five years and whenever I have to switch back to QBO, it feels like stepping back into the dark ages.
Cons
The only thing I'd want is for it to have a bigger worldwide presence so it's just as convenient to use no matter where you are.

“affordable online, weak reporting”
Pros
It's affordable and web-based which is definitely a plus. At first, the reporting seemed like it would be much better than Sage but that hasn't really been the case.
Cons
This feels like software designed by accountants for other accountants. It doesn't really suit those of us who prefer a more common-sense approach. Even this survey doesn't have spell-check.

“feature-packed for growing teams”
Pros
The platform is easy to use and comes with a wide range of features.
Cons
We ended up moving to QuickBooks because, as a small business, we simply didn't need all the extra tools and features it offers. It feels like a better match for larger companies though for a smaller business it still works perfectly well and gets the job done without any real downside.

“simple setup and excellent support”
Pros
It is pretty easy to use and I managed the setup myself with just a bit of help from a bookkeeper. The support team has also been consistently superb whenever needed.
Cons
The only issue is that the bank feeds don't always sync and that's something I am dealing with right now.

“excellent invoice tracking layout”
Pros
The layout is really well designed and it makes it simple to stay on top of all my invoices in the app. It works especially well for recurring business.
Cons
Things can become confusing when there are multiple clients under the same business but with different contacts. The app really needs a better way to keep everything organized.

“reliable bank feeds and fast reconciliation”
Pros
Xero seemed very user friendly from the start. I can reconcile transactions quickly and the bank feeds have been consistently reliable without those annoying reconnect issues. The quick rules for automatically classifying recurring transactions are also a real time saver.
Cons
There really aren't many complaints. I do wish there were an annual discount available but overall it meets our needs without any problems.

The customer service is practically nonexistent and they charge you for an extra month even after you cancel the subscription which feels like a scam.

“fast invoicing and revenue tracking”
Pros
Getting started with Xero was quick and creating invoices is very easy. Tagging accounts and product lines makes it simple to see exactly where revenue comes from. The PayPal integration is a big plus as it helps us collect payments without extra hassle.
Cons
One thing I'd really like to see is support for more than one payment option since some of our vendors would rather not use PayPal. It would also be helpful to have automatic reminders sent out whenever an invoice becomes overdue.

“clean interface, limited banking”
Pros
ITs interface is clean and easy to work with and the free trial was a really nice bonus.
Cons
From time to time, I ran into problems linking my HSBC Business Bank account. Back when I was using it, there also weren't many bank connection options available. I eventually moved to QuickBooks because its online guides seemed more helpful, it offered more features and overall I felt it was better value for the price.

“useful banking integration”
Pros
The integration between my bank accounts, online banking services and Xero works really well. Information is shared automatically which makes keeping everything updated much more convenient.
Cons
I regularly run into rejections from payroll and the pension provider and I haven't been able to resolve the issue myself. I have contacted support but the responses haven't been helpful or meaningful.

“beautiful UI and near-perfect bookkeeping”
Pros
Right from the start this has been the simplest bookkeeping and accounting software I have ever worked with. The interface looks fantastic and once it's set up properly with help from a good bookkeeper, it ends up handling most of the account reconciliation work for you.
Cons
Honestly there's not much to complain about. The only thing I'd add is a basic undo option for those times when you reconcile something by mistake. Something similar to Gmail's undo pop-up after sending an email would be really helpful. Even without that, it already feels very close to perfect.

“affordable pick for small businesses”
Pros
Xero is a really good option especially for small businesses. The pricing is affordable and works well for people who are just starting out in business.
Cons
One thing I clearly remember is that when a technical issue came up, they didn't take much responsibility for it. That was frustrating at first although it was eventually sorted out.

“faster payments and mobile access”
Pros
One of the biggest advantages of this program is how quickly it helps you get paid. It comes with a lot of useful tools especially online invoicing. You can send an invoice and even receive a notification when the client has opened it. Another thing I really appreciate is that Xero is not limited to a laptop or desktop since it also has an app which makes it possible to handle business while on the go.
Cons
Even though I am not giving it a perfect 10, this is definitely a software platform worth paying attention to. My only real complaint is that it could use a few more features.

“better invoice tracking clarity”
Pros
Xero has been really helpful for staying on top of invoices and giving us a clearer view of our finances. We're also in the process of integrating it into our platform to create a better overall user experience.
Cons
At this point, I haven't come across any major issues but I'll definitely update my review if that changes later on.

“user friendly invoicing experience”
Pros
Entering and keeping track of invoices in Xero is very easy. One of my clients uses it and I was able to pick up the software on my own within just a few hours.
Cons
Honestly there is nothing about the software that stands out to me as a negative. I am also not the administrator so my perspective is limited in that area.

“catchy name, cluttered workflow”
Pros
The product name is memorable and catchy and I also appreciate being able to audit activity and see what other users have done in the system.
Cons
Using it felt more complicated than it needed to be. There are too many different ways to do the same tasks and reach the same areas in the system which makes it feel cluttered.
