There's honestly nothing negative to point out. It does exactly what we need it to do and includes all the tools required for storing and analyzing data.

Its a great visualization tool and it becomes even more valuable once you know M and DAX. Some chart types especially stacked charts, work particularly well for presenting survey data. The slicers and filters also make it simple to build reusable templates which is very helpful when creating reports for different teams or clients.

Since it is mainly built as an internal business intelligence platform, one thing I would still like to see improved is making dashboard sharing easier for people outside the organization's domain.

Moving up from Microsoft Excel, this is pretty much the go-to platform in the data analysis space. There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to understanding the platform's language and the way it connects with different data sources but the interface helps a lot. It includes wizards for setting up data sources, creating dashboard gauges and managing access to reports which makes the process easier to follow. The built-in Microsoft feel, the familiar layout and the guidance features make it user-friendly to navigate and use. On top of that, there's a huge amount of support available online through places like Guy in a Cube and Microsoft Learn, including certification paths.

When it comes to analyzing data sets and turning information into digestible outputs like dashboards for management or insights for operational teams, it does the job really well. That said, it doesn't offer the depth of dedicated analysis platforms such as IBM SPSS although tools like that also demand much stronger analytical and mathematical knowledge. The part that gets frustrating is that some things that seem simple, like arranging a series in the order you want, are less user-friendly than they should be. In many cases, data sets also need to be supplemented with extra information to display things in the desired way and that can make the work take longer than expected at the start.
