a solid choice for building dashboards

Pros

Right from the start, it feels like a strong value compared with many other business intelligence platforms especially considering it delivers enterprise-grade analytics capabilities. As a Business Analyst, I really appreciate the user friendly drag and drop experience, the wide range of visualization choices and how naturally it connects with Microsoft tools like Excel, SQL Server, Azure and Teams. Creating interactive dashboards, automating reports and building data models with Power Query and DAX has made reporting much more efficient and helps drive better business decisions.

Cons

Getting started can be a bit challenging for newer users especially when advanced DAX formulas, complex data modeling or performance tuning come into play. Working with very large datasets may also require Premium capacity or careful optimization of the model. On top of that external report sharing and license management can be somewhat confusing, particularly in organizations that have mixed licensing needs.

amazing insights

Pros

It does an excellent job of turning complex data into clear, interactive insights. The interface is pretty user friendly so building dashboards is fairly easy yet it still includes advanced analytics for deeper reporting needs. One thing I really appreciate is its strong data management capability and how many different sources it can connect to, from cloud services and databases to spreadsheets and enterprise apps. The analysis tools are efficient and make it much easier to spot trends and support data-driven decisions. Its search and query options especially through DAX, filters and drill down features, add a lot of flexibility. On top of that the collaboration and sharing tools help teams access insights and act on them quickly. Given everything it offers, it provides excellent value for the cost.

Cons

The more advanced features can take time to learn especially DAX formulas, data modeling and building more complex reports. Support quality can also depend on the subscription tier and support plan so the experience is not always consistent. Performance may slow down at times when handling very large datasets or highly detailed reports. Some of the more advanced capabilities are locked behind premium licensing which can raise costs for bigger organizations. Although the interface is generally well designed, newer users may still find the advanced settings and configuration options a bit difficult to navigate.

Great integration withing Mircosoft stack

Pros

Working within the Microsoft stack is where this really shines. Hooking it up to sources such as SQL Server, ADF and Databricks is fairly direct and usually takes very little setup. DAX gives you a lot of flexibility for building time based metrics like YOY and YTD and the visual layer makes interactive dashboards approachable enough for business users to explore on their own without needing SQL. RLS is thoughtfully handled too since it lets you manage user level data access without creating duplicate reports.

Cons

Coming from a SQL background, the DAX learning curve can feel pretty steep. Calculations that would be simple in SQL often turn into more involved measure logic in DAX especially when CALCULATE, FILTER and context transition come into play. Performance is another area that can become challenging with larger datasets, as the model grows, refresh timeouts and slower visuals start to show up unless you spend time optimizing with things like aggregations or composite models. The licensing can also be hard to sort out since the differences between Pro, Premium Per User and Premium Capacity are not always obvious and external sharing adds extra licensing considerations. Collaboration is still a weaker point as well because version control for .pbix files does not feel as mature as code-based tools and while Git integration is getting better, it still falls short of a true CI/CD style workflow.

efficient MI reporting suite

Pros

There's a really detailed MI suite for analyzing performance, along with a complete set of reports that can be exported to Excel for further manipulation.

Cons

Watch out for its clearing filters since they can affect the MI. Refreshing regularly is important to make sure the data stays accurate.

fast insights

Pros

Turning raw data into something clear and useful is where this software really shines. It helps me transform large datasets into interactive dashboards and reports that are simple to read and understand. I can build charts, graphs and visual summaries pretty quickly without needing deep technical knowledge. Another big advantage is how well it connects to different data sources like Excel spreadsheets, databases and cloud platforms so bringing everything into one place is very convenient. The drag and drop interface also makes report building feel user friendly and efficient. It's much faster to spot trends, monitor key metrics and make decisions based on data. Instead of spending so much time analyzing information manually, I can rely on visual reports to get insights much faster. Overall it saves me time, boosts productivity and makes handling data far more organized and manageable.

Cons

Getting started it is fairly easy but some of the more advanced features can be challenging for beginners. Basic reporting is simple enough yet building complex dashboards, writing DAX formulas and managing advanced data models definitely takes time to learn. I've also seen performance slow down at times when working with very large datasets or more complicated reports. On top of that some helpful features are locked behind the premium version which may not work well for individuals or small businesses on tighter budgets. Another small downside is that customizing reports to look exactly the way you want can take extra effort. Even with those limitations, its still a very capable and valuable tool for data analysis and visualization.

good experience

Pros

One of the biggest strengths is the ability to visualize macroeconomic data in real time. Rather than relying only on static tables in a textbook, the instructor can import official datasets, such as those from ISTAT or the Bank of Italy and build interactive dashboards. This gives students the chance to actually work with the data and immediately see how changes in GDP or interest rates affect company financial statements.

Cons

A notable drawback is the initial complexity of data management especially during the data cleaning phase. If someone does not already have a background in data analysis, getting datasets ready so it can read them properly takes time and additional technical skills which can end up taking attention away from preparing the actual law lesson.

Regular improvements

Pros

It delivers strong data modeling and transformation through Power Query and once the model is set up properly, DAX makes advanced analytics and KPI calculations extremely capable. Report sharing works really well too, with solid access control through workspaces and apps. Dashboards feel fast and interactive when the data model and PostgreSQL queries are optimized and the overall ecosystem keeps getting better with steady product updates and improvements.

Cons

There is definitely a learning curve especially with DAX and data modeling since both require real expertise to use effectively. As data volume increases, setting up refreshes and keeping them reliable takes ongoing attention. Performance can also start to slip as more people begin using it if monitoring is not handled consistently.

Powerful data visualization

Pros

It has been a really capable platform for data visualization and reporting. It works well with a wide range of data sources and makes it possible to build interactive dashboards that are actually useful day to day. On our side, we rely on it as the main operational dashboard to track accessories and follow the real-time movement of units and that has made visibility and decision-making much better. Another big plus is how well it fits with other Microsoft products like Excel and Teams.

Cons

Getting comfortable with it can take time especially when you start dealing with DAX formulas or more advanced data models. It can also become slower when handling very large datasets and sharing reports sometimes means you need extra licensing.

Made us a favorite for clients

Pros

Seeing our detailed vehicle telemetry alongside driver evaluator notes on an ArcGIS map really changed the conversation for our team. That visualization clicked instantly with a lot of clients and it became an aha moment where they started viewing us as their go-to road safety experts.

Cons

The biggest limitation was the price of the top-tier plan especially the option that lets reports be shared publicly without requiring a user login. That cost was high enough to hold us back and we likely would have fully adopted the platform much earlier if that tier had been more affordable.
