“Quick exports with handy integrations”
Pros
Tableau has been really quick for handling our internal exports with SQL and it also helps reduce the impact by working with a replica of the database. On top of that the integrations with tools like Salesforce are a real treat.
Cons
At the moment I am using the desktop version and it can feel a little slow At times though it's nothing too serious.

“Flexible data connections with good visuals”
Pros
One thing that really stands out to me with this software is how many different data sources it can work with, whether that's databases, CSV files and more. After bringing data into Tableau, it offers a wide range of visualization options such as color, size, shape and other formatting choices that make analysis much more effective. It's also very useful that you can create calculated fields which makes it possible to build new columns from existing data once everything is loaded in. On top of that features like drill-down add even more depth and the ability to visualize time series data is another excellent part of Tableau.
Cons
The part I like least is that once the free trial period ends, you need an activation key to keep using it, otherwise it becomes a paid product. More than anything, having to pay for continued access is the downside that bothers me the most.

“Good visuals with useful data insights”
Pros
Handling large volumes of data without slowing down has been one of the best parts of using this software. It delivers impressive, interactive visualizations that are engaging for the audience and it's a smart data-focused tool that has helped us break down important sets of information and turn them into meaningful insights.
Cons
The biggest downside is the high upfront cost and the pricing feels pretty high especially for returning subscribers.

“Great visuals with good flexibility”
Pros
Tableau has been absolutely incredible to use. The sheer amount of functionality packed into it is wild and the standout features for me are the polished built-in visualizations and how user friendly the whole platform feels. Bringing in data from multiple sources is much simpler than it used to be which saves a lot of time. And yes, Tableau supports Regex which makes working with text data much more manageable. It also doesn't require much extra software to get up and running and performance is pretty fast once it is running. Another thing I really enjoy is being able to publish visualizations online, share them widely and explore ideas from other people in the Tableau community. It's easily my favorite BI tool available right now.
Cons
Honestly there is not much to complain about with the software itself. If anything, it would be nice to have more online spaces for questions and answers beyond the instructional resources already available on the website.

“Data is well organized”
Pros
The tool does an excellent job of helping us organize data. It lets us structure everything in a clean, readable way that makes the information much easier to understand.
Cons
That said, it does require some background knowledge and hands-on experience before you really know how to use it well.

“Great value for data storytelling”
Pros
It's hard to think of another tool at this price that handles data prep, analysis, storytelling and visualization this well while also integrating well with almost any kind of data source.
Cons
I feel like it could still improve when it comes to data cleaning tasks since right now Excel is a bit better in that area.

“Useful insights from dashboards”
Pros
It delivers a lot of value through its analysis capabilities and the way it manages dashboards makes it very effective for visually presenting any topic that needs to be evaluated.
Cons
The charts and maps are excellent overall though the creation of thematic maps is one area that could still be improved.

“perfect for data visuals”
Pros
Tableau leads the pack when it comes to data visualization. It lets me create charts, graphs and summary dashboards incredibly fast which saves me a lot of time when I am analyzing large datasets and working through big data.
Cons
One downside is that it is not very user friendly at first. It takes quite a bit of training and a few classes to really learn how to use it properly.

“Useful real-time insights”
Pros
Jumping into Tableau is surprisingly quick because the analysis speed is excellent. Even with little to no training, it's possible to build and interact with visualizations much faster than expected and there's plenty of flexibility to create different kinds of charts. On the reporting side, it gives a real-time view of what's happening across the business which is really valuable. It's also impressive how well it integrates with a wide range of data sources.
Cons
The biggest downside is the pricing. It's not very budget-friendly and feels quite expensive when compared with other business intelligence tools.

“Good visuals for research purposes”
Pros
Having used the public version of Tableau for over a year, I can say it's a user friendly data visualization tool with a wide range of features and techniques for turning raw data into meaningful insights. It supports importing data from many sources especially relational databases and analytical data warehouses built in Microsoft SQL Server and other popular server platforms. The public edition already includes valuable capabilities that are very useful for academic work and individual research, particularly for quantitative analysis. The drag and drop interface is flexible and helps a lot when building relationships between dimensions and facts in imported datasets. Another helpful feature is its ability to automatically suggest chart types that fit the selected variables and explain the data well. I especially enjoy the time series visualization functions, particularly the animated views. On top of that there are plenty of support resources available including help documents, video tutorials and community forums which are useful whenever guidance is needed.
Cons
Getting the most out of it does require a certain level of IT knowledge especially when it comes to identifying relationships between variables in a dataset and extending the software's capabilities. Also, if you want access to more advanced visualization options and the ability to share dashboards with others, you need to move to the paid version.

“Keeps track of every account”
Pros
Time moves fast and this helps me keep up by showing my last contact with a client, the last time I presented a campaign and other key details that keep me alert. It makes it much easier to stay on top of multiple client accounts at all times and not let anything slip.
Cons
There's definitely a lot of information in it so it takes some time to go through each tab and absorb everything. It felt a bit overwhelming at first but once I got used to it, it became a really helpful way to stay organized and on task.

“Dashboards that work on any device”
Pros
Using Tableau for BI work has been a really positive experience because it comes packed with useful features right out of the box. Our business relies on it for self-service reporting and the users have been very satisfied with how it performs. One of the standout benefits is being able to view dashboards across different devices, whether that is a laptop, phone or tablet.
Cons
There is definitely a learning curve and I have also heard from business users that it can feel challenging if someone is not very tech savvy.

“Dashboards with good syncing”
Pros
With a well-trained support team especially a strong Business Intelligence group, Tableau can be an excellent tool to work with. The dashboard and graph features are the standout parts for me and the data syncing options are also among its best capabilities.
Cons
From time to time it has trouble displaying or handling data the way we want it to. These cases don't happen often and we can usually work around them but many of the problems tend to come from how table characteristics are shown.

“Useful insights across the business”
Pros
It does an excellent job of delivering business insights across the entire value chain, not just within finance. That broader visibility is a standout feature.
Cons
One challenge is the amount of time and investment required upfront to clearly define your business requirements and organize your data sources properly, even though it has the advantage of connecting to virtually any type of data source.
