GPTZero Features

AI Content Detection

GPTZero analyzes written text to estimate whether it was produced by a human or generated using an AI model. It supports detection across major models, including ChatGPT, GPT-5, GPT-4, Gemini, Claude, Llama, and DeepSeek. Users can paste text into the platform or upload DOCX, PDF, and image files. This makes it useful for checking individual passages as well as complete documents.

Grammar Checker

GPTZero's Grammar Checker reviews writing for spelling, punctuation, grammar, and phrasing issues. It combines current English grammar rules with AI trained on educational writing and composition guidance. This helps users find errors in their work and receive suggestions that can improve the clarity and overall quality of their writing.

See How It Works
Plagiarism Checker

This feature allows users to check whether written content has been copied from outside sources without proper attribution. It helps educators, publishers, and content teams identify potential plagiarism and gives them another way to assess the originality of written work alongside AI detection.

Authorship And Writing Replay

GPTZero's Writing Replay lets users watch how a document was created from start to finish. It shows edits, copy-and-paste activity, and contributions from collaborators throughout the writing process. Users can jump to sections with more pasted content, move between edits, and export the Writing Report as a PDF for sharing.

See How It Works
Advanced Scan

Advanced Scan provides additional analysis to explain which sections of a document contributed most strongly to an AI classification. This can help users understand why content was flagged instead of relying only on a percentage or general label.

See How It Works
False Positive Detection

This feature helps reduce the chances of human-written content being incorrectly classified as AI-generated. GPTZero states that its false positive rate is no more than 1% when evaluating AI versus human text. This can help educators and institutions review possible AI use with greater context before making a decision.

Expert Feedback

This feature provides structured and scored feedback on written content using templates trained by professionals in different fields. Users can choose a template that matches their needs, such as an admissions coach for college essays or a stock analyst for investment recommendations. The tool then reviews the uploaded text and provides annotations and scores based on the expert's specific criteria.

accurate detection

Pros

It's been exceptionally accurate at spotting AI written text and the whole tool is very easy to use. The free limit of 10,000 characters is really helpful, it processes quickly and the file upload option makes it even more convenient. I've never even had to contact support because everything is clear and simple from the start.

Cons

One thing that gets annoying is that when I paste text in, it opens a separate browser tab to run the check.

reliable contract verification tool

Pros

We mainly rely on it to tell whether text was generated with GPT or actually written by the person especially when reviewing contracts that may have been created with ChatGPT instead of drafted by them. It speeds up our analysis a lot and also helps us confirm (along with the legal team) whether someone is submitting legitimate details or trying to pass off fake contracts.

Cons

I really don't have any major complaints because it works well overall. If I had to point out one thing it would be the pricing which seems a little on the expensive side.

clear highlights you can trust

Pros

It gives clear, transparent results and the sentence level highlights make it easy to see why something gets flagged instead of just showing that it was flagged. That makes it feel practical and reliable especially in academic and professional settings.

Cons

At times it seems a bit too cautious and may mark human written content as AI generated. That can be frustrating when the text is genuinely original. I also wish the free version included a slightly higher text limit for testing.
