4.0

simple interface with unlimited access

Pros

One thing that really helped me was having no participant limit at all. That made everything much more convenient for me because there was no need to filter people out or leave anyone behind. I also find the interface very simple so it's hard for me to get confused or feel lost while using it.

Cons

it feels a bit outdated. It seems stuck in the past and the limited feature set makes it feel somewhat boring compared with other current options on the market.

Reliable conferencing essentials

Pros

It covers the core features I'd expect from a web conferencing tool so I think it handles the basics well.

Cons

One awkward thing happened when a partner sent me a meeting link. I joined about five minutes before the scheduled time but instead of entering the right session, I ended up in another meeting that was just wrapping up which was pretty uncomfortable.

secure meetings without hassle

Pros

Joining meetings is very convenient for me and the safety features are what I appreciate most. I don't even need to log in to attend since I can enter directly through the meeting link and private password.

Cons

I haven't come across any shortcomings in this app. It feels safe and secure, with end-to-end encryption that also helps protect the privacy of both individuals and professionals.

Fantastic for online conferences

Pros

If I need software to run online conferences or meetings and want a bunch of really useful features, this could be exactly what I'm looking for.

Cons

Up to this point, I haven't come across anything about this software that I dislike.

reliable meetings with quality streaming

Pros

During college conference calls, one thing that really helps me is that if the moderator leaves, the meeting doesn't get cut off. Instead, the system automatically hands moderator rights to someone else which keeps everything running without interruption. I also find it impressive that full meetings and conference sessions can be recorded. On top of that, it includes screen sharing, private messaging during conferences and live chat, while still delivering high-quality audio and video streaming.

Cons

The only feature I've noticed missing is remote access control on the web version though it's not a big issue. Honestly I can understand why they don't offer it there since remote access through the web could raise security concerns.

4.0

handy chat feature

Pros

Our team uses it every day for conference calls with around 6 to 12 people and I think it works really well for group video sharing. Everyone can turn on video without much hassle and I find it helpful that the platform shows the live call quality for each participant depending on their connection. I also really appreciate the chat during calls when we need to send project links quickly. The active speaker being outlined with a blue border makes conversations easier for me to follow. If someone doesn't have video on, they appear by their initials or the first letter of their name. I feel it is very accessible and user friendly overall.

Cons

Every now and then, there are outages or the connection gets slow and sometimes everyone's video turns black which is definitely frustrating. Even with those occasional issues, it's still a really great product and a more private alternative to Zoom and similar tools.

3.0

powerful features but costly to scale

Pros

Being free in the open-source sense is a big plus for me and it offers a ton of features along with a high level of customization.

Cons

The downside is that getting those customizations working requires quite a bit of knowledge and the free servers just aren't sufficient. If you're using it professionally or for business, you'll need to pay for better servers and competing products handle that part more effectively.

great internal collaboration value

Pros

I find it works really well as a tool for internal collaboration across the company. On top of that, it's affordable which makes it an even better option for me.

Cons

Up to this point, we've mainly used it for internal meetings and teamwork rather than client-facing meetings. Also, earlier versions didn't feel as dependable as some of the other paid alternatives.

Reliable access and quality

Pros

This is really easy. The call quality is consistently high, I rarely run into connection issues and setting up meeting rooms plus sharing access details is quick and simple for me. It's also a big advantage that the software is free to use and doesn't require logging in or creating an account.

Cons

The free version does have a limited feature set but for the intended scope of use, it still covers everything needed.

free meetings with no limits

Pros

Getting meetings up and running is hard to beat for me with this tool. Sending invites is very easy and the fact that people can join without downloading anything or entering meeting IDs and passcodes makes it especially convenient. There are no time limits and being completely free is a huge plus in my view.

Cons

The screen sharing feature could be more user-friendly. I'd really like the option to share just a selected portion of the screen instead of being limited to sharing only a specific window.

5.0

powerful open-source conferencing

Pros

One thing I really appreciate is that it's open-source and being actively improved all the time. I find the interface looks very good on both desktop computers and mobile devices. The video quality is great as well. It also includes polls for real-time voting which I think is a nice addition. There are plenty of features overall and it can handle large conferences now too. Another big plus is that anyone, including me, can use it for free and invite participants simply by sharing a link.

Cons

It does have some issues on older computers so the system being used should be fairly up to date. Breakout rooms are also still missing at the moment although the developers have said that this feature should be added soon.

reliable on linux but missed calls

Pros

Getting it set up for VoIP or video calls is easy for me and it runs well on Linux.

Cons

At times, it won't launch alongside the VoIP app which has caused us to miss calls.

affordable meetings with nice transitions

Pros

I find switching between speakers during meetings feels really polished. The meeting quality is also very good and of course the pricing is a big plus for me.

Cons

The recording feature is quite unreliable. It depends on an external tool like Jibri and that tends to fail pretty often. Deployment is also a nightmare and you really need a skilled IT team to keep it running reliably.

3.0

basic meetings at low cost

Pros

At its core, I think this is a pretty basic video conferencing tool. It handles video calls well enough and offers me a low-cost, simple way to stay connected for meetings or even social gatherings.

Cons

On the downside, it doesn't come with many advanced features. The software feels quite limited overall, it works for meeting and communicating but it doesn't really support anything much more complex than that.

5.0

open-source virtual classroom win

Pros

Being free and open source is easily the biggest advantage that comes to mind for me. That said it definitely does not feel limited when it comes to features. I have relied on it regularly for virtual meetings across the University since the beginning of the pandemic and a few strengths really stand out. I find it very user-friendly so even people who are not particularly tech-savvy can use it without much guidance. It also works well with Moodle which is our preferred LMS and that makes it possible for faculty, including me, to run virtual classes directly from their course pages. On top of that, the Dropbox integration makes it simple for me to record meetings and share those recordings with others.

Cons

As strong as the platform is, there are still a few parts that could use some refinement. There are times when someone joins a meeting through the provided link and ends up alone, even though other participants using that same link are already in the room. Usually, the fix is to leave and join again. It can also have trouble when the internet connection is weak which is especially important in less-developed areas where some of our students are located.

reliable calls and simple setup

Pros

Using it feels very easy for me and the call quality has been really good.

Cons

One thing that gets tedious at times is having to add extension prefixes before placing a call. It would be much better if calls could work without needing those prefix extensions.

5.0

Secure and dependable video calls

Pros

One thing I really appreciate is how well it handles screen sharing, one-on-one interaction and dial-in calling. I find the audio and video quality is great and if the connection weakens, it switches back to audio-only instead of dropping the call entirely. I also feel a lot more secure using it because the room names can be randomized into unusual words which makes it seem like only the people who are supposed to join would ever know what to look for.

Cons

After the latest update, there's a small issue where I sometimes have to click the camera button twice before the black screen goes away. Other than that, it has been excellent.

4.0

permanent rooms that just work

Pros

Having permanent meeting rooms is really convenient for me because I can join automatically without needing permission each time. There's no need to keep sending new invites or renewing access which makes recurring meetings much more practical.

Cons

One downside is that the app isn't very widely used so it tends to be limited to regular internal users within an organization. Compared with more common platforms, it's less practical when meeting with clients.

staying connected made simple

Pros

One thing I really appreciate is how it keeps me connected with coworkers, family, friends and more, while giving me the option to use it either in the browser or through the app. It's very easy for anyone, including me, who has never used this kind of tool before and the built-in features are simple for me to figure out as I go. I definitely recommend it for keeping in touch.

Cons

The only downside I've noticed is that the microphone sometimes gets muted because of app glitches. Other than that, I really don't have any complaints and it's still a fantastic option for staying connected.
