complete city management platform

Pros

Having Cityworks AMS and PLL in one system gives us a full enterprise solution for running city operations. It brings together asset management and permitting workflow control in a single place which makes it much more practical to manage everything across the city.

Cons

There really isn't much to complain about. The platform keeps evolving based on user needs, while also fixing issues and adding improvements over time.

Smooth ESRI integration

Pros

Connecting it with ESRI products has been really simple and it works very well with ArcGIS Online web maps.

Cons

I've only been using it for a few months so it still feels a bit too early to give a solid opinion on any downsides.

Fast support and helpful guidance

Pros

Whenever I need help, the live assistance is simple to use and the response time has been incredibly fast. The written instructions are also available which makes it easier to get support when questions come up.

Cons

As a new user I didn't receive any training so I know I'm probably missing valuable data simply because I haven't learned where to find it yet.

Pros

It provides a complete workflow management system and supports a wide range of integrations which makes it very capable for handling connected processes.

powerful capabilities for city operations

Pros

Compared with other programs I've worked with, Cityworks offers stronger capabilities and does a better job overall.

Cons

The downside is that the training isn't free. I'd really like to see training resources made available at no cost.

Reliable support and setup

Pros

Getting Cityworks up and running and then managing it afterward, has been very simple. The technical support team is excellent and the amount of documentation available for both administrators and end users is incredibly helpful. On top of that, the partners they work with really know the product well and consistently deliver strong results.

Cons

Cityworks does offer APIs and webhooks for connecting with other information systems which helps but they still don't handle every integration scenario. Because of that, we've had to rely on custom-built solutions in some cases.

Asset tracking and communication shine

Pros

Communication has been really simple and it does a solid job of tracking assets, service requests and work orders.

Cons

Respond can be frustrating especially when trying to get used to it outside the office. It also feels like the software was rolled out before it was fully developed, with too many updates to Respond, admin features, styles and other areas.

Clean UX with Esri fit

Pros

Getting around the system feels simple and the interface has a clean, polished look. The integration with Esri also works really well and fits smoothly into our workflow.

Cons

One frustrating part is that the Respond UI tends to shift around a lot while clicking through and navigating which has been annoying for my users. PLL is also complicated to administer because of all the little nuances and notifications are difficult to manage and still feel limited in what they can actually do.

development is booming

Pros

Since Newedge rolled out Cityworks for our local government, the switch has gone really well and the system has been very user-friendly. It's made development work in Beaumont, Texas much more convenient than before. One of the biggest benefits is that contractors can now submit development plans remotely instead of having to come to Beaumont in person and that has really helped development take off.

Cons

Only thing I miss is getting office updates. I know Respond is on the way and we're aware of that but honestly, I've always liked Office.
