“configurable GIS visibility”
Pros
One thing that really stands out is how configurable this system is for meeting different end-user needs. Some of the newer web-based add-ons have also made a big difference by reducing tasks that used to come with a steep learning curve. Being able to view work visually on a map, along with the direct GIS connection, is another feature that has been very helpful.
Cons
I'd still like to see broader integration with more third-party road applications although that may not be entirely on their side. Also, a recent update that moved maps to a separate tab has made things more difficult for remote users working on tablets.

“GIS-based asset management”
Pros
Cityworks has been a highly scalable option for managing work and assets. The biggest advantage is that it's completely GIS-based which fits our needs really well. It also allows a lot of customization through XML and JavaScript so we've been able to tailor it closely to what our users actually need.
Cons
One part that can be frustrating is the separate map page since it isn't always the easiest to work with. Most of our users end up preferring GIS Search instead. Because of that, we also customized the work order page to include an embedded map.

“Helpful GIS asset management”
Pros
Right out of the box, Cityworks works really well as an asset management system especially with the built-in GIS. It supports key processes through modules for work orders, inspections, service requests and more which makes it very useful for day-to-day operations.
Cons
Every organization has its own business workflow so some level of customization is needed to match specific requirements. Cityworks doesn't really provide the tools needed to make that customization happen effectively.

“Mapping makes issues visible”
Pros
Being able to view problem areas directly on the map is a big improvement over sorting through a basic list. It gives us a clearer picture of where issues are happening and helps us stay on top of them more effectively.
Cons
It gets frustrating is how repeat work orders are generated right away as soon as the current one is completed. That can make the work order list feel cluttered pretty quickly.
