This feature lets a snippet expand into more than plain text. An abbreviation can insert an image, formatted text, or a file attachment directly into apps like Word, Mail, Outlook, Pages, or Gmail. This means a signature block, a logo, or a formatted table can be typed out in a couple of keystrokes instead of copied and pasted each time.

This runs in the background as users type, capitalizing the first letter of a new sentence and fixing accidental double capitals automatically. It catches small formatting slips before they end up in an email or document, so there's less need to go back and manually correct capitalization after the fact.

Beyond static text, a snippet can include date and time scripts, editable fields the user fills in at the moment of expansion, or keystroke and mouse scripting. This is aimed at repetitive tasks that need some variation each time, like a dated form entry or a multi-step action, rather than the exact same text every time.

Snippet libraries can sync across computers through OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, or a shared network folder. For someone working across a desktop and a laptop, or a team sharing a common set of snippets, this keeps everyone working from the same up-to-date library instead of maintaining separate copies manually.

aText ships with a set of ready-made snippets covering common misspellings, HTML and JavaScript shortcuts, and emojis. These are available immediately after installation, giving a new user something functional to start with rather than requiring every snippet to be built from scratch before the tool becomes useful.

The platform runs on both Windows and macOS, with snippet libraries syncing between the two. It also works inside virtual machines and remote desktop clients.
