Pros

Everything with this platform actually works. Before switching to it, I was using another tool that supposedly did the same thing and it never functioned properly. There were a few bumps during the onboarding process at first but I'm still amazed by how far the customer service team went to make sure everything was resolved and that I was happy. We're in different time zones and when I'm at the hospital for several days in a row, I often miss emails and follow-ups. Even that didn't stop the Hippo technician, who went as far as leaving a message with my office when he couldn't reach me by phone. I've honestly never dealt with customer service like that before. They were incredibly patient, professional and committed to helping. The product quality is excellent and the team behind it is just outstanding.

After spending some time with the free trial, I appreciated that the app is fairly simple to use. Recording the screen is simple and the videos are available to download afterward which is definitely helpful.

Cons

Biggest problem for me is the web extension especially the Chrome extension which crashes repeatedly. That really hurts the overall experience and needs to be fixed. Also, the free version feels too limited compared with the paid one so it could use a bit more development and a few added features.

Whenever I need to capture my full screen or record an online meeting, this is usually the tool I turn to. I've been using it that way since 2018. The recording process is simple and the storage allowance for videos is very generous. Using Chrome together with the Hippo plugin and logging in online, recordings work almost all the time as long as the session stays under about an hour.

Cons

The downside is that longer recordings, around 90 minutes or so, tend to fail almost every time. It seems to happen especially with full desktop HD recordings, where the file ends up going over 1 GB. When that happens, the recording may suddenly stop and the file is either lost or corrupted. This has been an issue from the start and support still hasn't managed to resolve it. Because of that, recording a full day of online training still isn't really possible. Another limitation is that after a recording longer than an hour, I can't just stop it and immediately begin another one because the browser keeps uploading the data and processing the recording. That processing can take around 15 minutes so back-to-back recording isn't really possible.

Pros

One thing I really enjoyed was the set of tools for editing the video after recording. It feels much better than several other apps I tried before. Recording worked without any issues and the interface seems simple.

Maybe the pricing should cover a group of users, even if it's just a small team.

It's been quite simple to set up and use as long as the internet connection is stable. I've only used it for recording meetings so far and haven't explored the other features yet but up to this point it has worked really well.

Really been so simple to get started with this tool and it does a solid job of helping you stay ADA-compliant. You can jump right in without having to sit through a long tutorial.

Compared with Loom, Vidyard and similar tools, this tool packs a huge amount of value into every subscription tier. That's the biggest thing that separates it from the competition for me... you simply get a lot more for what you pay with these guys.

One thing I'd really like to see improved is the webcam bubble during screen recordings. With Loom and Vidyard, you can click and drag it around the screen but that flexibility isn't there here. At times, part of the software I'm recording ends up hidden behind the bubble which can be pretty frustrating.
