“Clear Estimates Limitations

Pros

I find it easy to use but it's pretty pointless because it's very inaccurate.

Cons

I find the material costs to be off and outdated. Many common materials aren't in the database, and creating my own database would take forever. The program is also inconsistent, so it's not much help for getting accurate quotes.

Pros

I appreciate how easy it is to use, update line item info, and adjust pricing.

Cons

It would be great if I could sketch a floor plan and then drag and drop items into it. It would also be nice to sketch a kitchen layout and show it in 3D to a customer. It's much easier to sell a kitchen remodel when the customer can get a basic idea of what it will look like. The same applies to any remodel.

This software has made it much simpler and more efficient to create estimates for my clients. I can just relax and let Clear Estimates handle the job. It's top-notch software.

Cons

The lack of "Key Words" is an issue, but I've been assured that this problem is being worked on.

I really like how the Remodelmax cost database is organized, with parts categorized and subcategorized. The standard sections as reusable components on top of these parts make creating any estimate from scratch a breeze.

Cons

I find the interface a bit clunky and outdated, making it hard to perform basic and repetitive tasks easily. I'm not aware of any keyboard shortcuts that might help power users.

Pros

After customizing the tasks to match my projects and bidding style, Clear Estimates lets me bid on standard components by piece or area. By tracking actual time and materials over multiple jobs, I can save a lot of time and get accurate estimates. Once I've built out or adapted the library of pieces, I can put together a finished estimate in just a few minutes.

Cons

Adding sales tax to a proposal is a bit awkward, but if I know the various tax rates in my area, it's only a minor hassle.

I love that it handles pricing for materials and labor. It takes the guesswork out and significantly eases my workload.

Search results could be more refined. I often get results from completely unrelated categories, which makes it time-consuming to sift through. It's not a huge deal, but that's all I could think of.

The reports page needs more flexibility. It would be better if I could place disclaimers, project disruptions, etc., anywhere I want instead of having them all jumbled at the top of each proposal.

Formatting estimate/bid forms is challenging. I can't make them look the way I want.

I value that there's a lot of information already included, which seems to be updated regularly.

This software is stuck with one cost code system. It would have taken too much time to adjust all the job cost lines to match a Masterformat Division cost code system, which is what my other software uses. I mentioned this and my suggestion to add this feature was basically ignored.

It meets my needs 100%. I can store customer info and access it on the go.

I can't find anything to dislike about it. I knew exactly what I wanted in an estimating software program, and Clear Estimates turned out to be the perfect fit.

Pros

I like how it shows if my pricing is competitive by providing local market info on labor and time requirements. I got up and running quickly and am still discovering useful features. The cost is definitely worth it.

Cons

Setting up a proposal and removing parts of it was difficult, but I attributed it to not having gone through the training properly. My mistake.

Pros

I'd describe the software as well-organized and simple. As an electrical contractor, adapting the program to my needs was easy. Any questions I had were either figured out by my teenager or answered by Support, who usually got back to me within the day, sometimes even within the hour. They're very friendly and communicate well.

Cons

My only request is the ability to accept payments. I'd also like to see more than 4 items on my list at a time. I don't have many complaints.

It won't let me send text messages, only emails.

Clear Estimates has made the estimation process for my business so much easier. I save a lot of time now that I've learned how to navigate it. With so many different projects, keeping up with pricing changes for supplies and labor rates was tough before. I used to underestimate costs, but Clear Estimates has really improved my financial situation.

Cons

The downside is that it takes a while to fully understand its capabilities and adjust it to fit my needs, especially for things the software doesn't cover. I've only been using it for a few months, so I'm sure there's a lot I still need to learn, but as a small company, I don't have the time to figure it all out.
