Easy to use construction software

Pros

I find it incredibly easy to collect and organize information for subcontractors without any hassle. The system allows me to quickly access and compile the necessary details, making the entire process smooth and efficient. This effortless ability to gather and manage subcontractor data significantly enhances my workflow and productivity.

Cons

The format of COINS needs to be updated.

Ideal choice as a construction management tool

Pros

This software excels in managing multiple large construction projects, making planning and budgeting for complex Construction and Engineering projects so smooth. Handling financial and project resources is really simple with this and it's the most simple platform for managing workflow and the best scheduling system.

Cons

I find it to be excellent for managing costs on large Construction and Engineering projects but the technical support could use some improvement.

Good but can be better

Pros

It stand out feature is the way you can search, view and manage your data. When searching for specific data, you can use many different fields to find what you need and for a range of data, you can search across various fields. You can also customize how your data is displayed on almost every page, similar to Excel, where you can adjust columns and sorting. These features are fantastic because other software often limits searches and displays data in a single way. With thi, you can easily adjust how you view your data based on your focus and quickly export reports or search results to an Excel document.

Cons

I spend most of my time working with accounts payable in Coins and I don't think it has the best accounting features. When entering invoices, I'm directed to screens that only show data entry and matching pages, without a feature to view the invoice while entering information. I can only add the invoice document as an attachment and have to navigate to another page to see it. I've used accounting software that lets you automatically upload invoices and work on entering and coding them while the invoice is visible on the same screen. With Coins I've had to find a different way outside of the software to manage my invoices and attach them as I go.

SO easy and helpful construction tool

Pros

This software was very easy to install, didn't take up much space and is very easy to navigate. I can keep all my bids organized.

Cons

It felt a bit elementary but I know it's a work in progress. Also some features had glitches but again, customer service was easy to reach and solved the problem.

It really helps our business

Pros

The highly configurable system allows our multiple companies with different business lines to operate in their unique ways. It is fully web-based and utilizes built-in API and web services to connect with other software we use.

Cons

Since it's a highly configurable system, there's an initial learning curve that takes time to master, though it's worth it once you get the hang of it.

Loved the mobile technician feature

Pros

Its Mobile Technician feature sets us apart from our competitors. It enables our technicians to take photos and add notes on equipment issues, giving our customers validation for what our technicians observe. Using one system to manage our entire business, from operations to accounting, allows us to function smoothly. The bulk import and export functions enable us to update and manipulate data easily.

Cons

Implementation was challenging, partly due to the flexibility of the software configuration and our users' resistance to new processes.

Pros

I appreciate that you can configure the system to meet your business's needs and that the payroll module significantly reduces the time needed to process payroll.

Cons

My biggest issue is the frequent updates, which require a lot of testing for the end user.

A complete ERP system with high customization options

Pros

The software fully meets our numerous business needs as a complete ERP system and offers a high degree of customization.

Cons

Some areas of the software were newly developed and a bit clunky when we started and the customization increases our QA load. However great strides have been made in both areas.

Simple project management & excellent support

Pros

The project management portion is excellent. It's very simple for our project managers to use and has greatly helped manage our jobs. Also, the support team is very good and they are usually providing quick and helpful answers.

Cons

Upgrading can be slightly problematic if you are not fully familiar with the product but it gets easier with use.

Comprehensive coverage with remote data access

Pros

COINS OA is very comprehensive...it not only meets back-office needs but also allows us to expand our reach (data collection, reporting etc) to remote users. It also broadly addresses the needs of our operational units.

Cons

Development is always forward-looking. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, there could be more focus on the versions that customers use daily to run their business.

I liked that the software was cloud-based and had a simple interface.

Cons

Data migration was challenging as we had to map our old structure to the COINS structure. After a few calls with the COINS team, we got it figured out and imported.

Flexible solution with open-source compatibility

Pros

It's browser-based and runs on-premise or in the cloud. Very configurable and runs on open source Linux software. It covers most of our ERP requirements and has native iOS applications for service management, construction and CRM. The product is actively and continuously developed.

Cons

There's a small learning curve for first-time users.

Pros

The bulk, concurrent and multi update functions enable me to maintain our information quickly and efficiently. COINS has robust reporting and analysis tools with many options to view your information however you'd like.

Cons

It's not very intuitive. Even with training from COINS, you have to dedicate significant time to learning this software.

Robust data handling with an excellent support

Pros

I like the amount of data the software can process and report. In payroll, I especially appreciate that you can set an effective date for all payroll item changes and union rate changes, making payroll preparation easier during tax or union rate changes. It is also easy overall and helps us manage our jobs from forecasting to tracking actual job costs. The mobile tech feature is another great addition, making it easier for our service department. Lastly the support from their help desk is usually timely and thorough, with knowledgeable and eager staff to help us resolve any issues.

Cons

The thing I like least about the software is the lack of flexibility in creating my own reports. I wouldd prefer to generate reports without having to go through it. Also I don't think we should have to pay for report creation or modification, considering we pay bi-annual license fees and have already paid for the program. This shouldn't be an extra charge.

Pros

The system security scheme, job cost and BI reporting module are very easy to follow and provide flexibility and efficiency.

Cons

The DM module's scan, index and upload features are helpful but I think the keyword maintenance (service order) could be better.
