Pros
I can complete takeoffs by covering one item multiple times with one symbol or manually counting them using the measure tool. Overlapping drawings is great for when I have multiple drawings for one floor.
Cons
Occasionally, I don't receive the Dropbox link via email after processing my takeoff, which can be inconvenient.

Users Review of Countfire
Pros
Countfire was developed specifically for takeoffs from PDF drawings. The ease of extracting from PDFs and exporting to Excel is impressive. Creating zones that match the tender breakdown is also a standout feature, and the support is exceptional.
Cons
The estimating package requires substantial improvements to meet the needs of major M&E companies. For example, the left-hand margin and contents are fixed, which limits flexibility for movement and font adjustments. Additionally, it can be slow when the background is active, although sometimes it's necessary to keep the background on.

Pros
Countfire's auto count across multiple drawings has sped up the takeoff procedure, allowing me to spend more time estimating and assigning costs instead of counting.
Cons
The measurement facility for containment drawings is not necessarily a dislike, but it's similar to what I've seen in other software like PlanSwift.

Pros
I can select one symbol, and Countfire counts all of them.
Cons
Either the loading times or the occasional issue where it misinterprets the background as not being a background can be problematic. I suspect this is more related to the drawings themselves rather than an issue with Countfire.

One year review of the Countfire software
One year review of the Countfire software
Pros
The takeoff software lets me quickly handle any project. The symbol counting tool is impressive, and in the future, most estimators will use this software for later build projects.
Cons
While the technology is impressive, it hasn't yet reached a perfect state. I'm optimistic that this will improve over time. For example, the symbol counting feature sometimes doesn't accurately detect every symbol. Countfire does allow for multiple snippets of a symbol, which should hopefully become unnecessary in the near future.

Pros
The constant improvements and the ease of accurate takeoffs are impressive! The Countfire team always looks for ways to improve the software and takes customer feedback very well! It's also a huge bonus for my business model that all takeoffs can be done online without needing a printer! This enables my company to operate from anywhere very easily.
Cons
Adding a live catalog of materials would greatly enhance the software, reducing the time spent obtaining current prices for materials.

Pros
I really enjoy how much time it saves! Once I highlight a symbol on one drawing, that symbol is automatically highlighted on the next, which is a huge time saver! It's also very straightforward! After a 1-hour training session, I was confident to get started!
Cons
As our specialty is fire alarms, we often need to design fire alarm systems for buildings or modify existing designs that aren't compliant. It would be fantastic if a feature could be added to remove and replace symbols, allowing us to complete the entire takeoff process for every system using Countfire.
