Undoubtedly the most superior cost-estimating tool available.
Undoubtedly the most superior cost-estimating tool available.
Pros
I love the fact that it looks like a spreadsheet, which makes working with it feel natural. I have access to almost everything I need in its assemblies, and most of the prices and formulas are already there. Our estimators can evaluate the data in the sheets that they can access from our vast database with ease. All the modifications can be rolled down to line items to change the groupings of prices as per our needs.
Cons
We use eTakeoff, which requires bridge software but isnt a big deal in and of itself. It just means that we cant put the measured amount right into the spreadsheets quantity field.

Takeoffs can be done quickly, and it has solid integrations with third-party apps
Takeoffs can be done quickly, and it has solid integrations with third-party apps
Pros
I have recently started using Sage, and so far Im loving it. I use a lot of other apps like RS Means, Bluebeam Revu, and Excel, which are all integrated within Sage, which saves me a lot of switching back and forth. This software has a lot of potential. I am pretty sure it can be further molded to adhere to the way I work.
Cons
I came to Sage through a reseller known as Sky-Line, which failed to provide quality service and ended up ruining the experience for me. Their trainer was terrible, having no knowledge of even the package that I had ordered. I wish I had contacted Sage directly to save me the inconvenience.

Highly customizable and the best application for organizing an estimate
Highly customizable and the best application for organizing an estimate
Pros
The software is highly customizable and offers quick adjustments to values like labor rates and material costs. It makes sure all the users have access to up-to-date rates so that they can make informed decisions accordingly. They have a vast list of online training available on the website, and the support team is great as well.
Cons
The software is often very sluggish, responding slowly to clicks, drags, and drops. Auto-fill operations sometimes even take minutes to complete.

Sage: The only software you need for perfect, error-free estimates
Sage: The only software you need for perfect, error-free estimates
Pros
We have been pleased to have spent the money to implement Sage in our system. The errors that our users usually make are basically nonexistent now. And we have also developed our own database, which cuts the estimation time even shorter. Customization is another strong point, and we are able to modify the automatic formulas to match them with our business needs.
Cons
Although it is quite user-friendly and intuitive compared to earlier versions, some training is still necessary and strongly advised in order to navigate and utilize the software to its full potential.

A must-have tool for any construction company
A must-have tool for any construction company
Pros
Its one of the markets oldest and most dependable pieces of software. which means we have access to other estimators for support if needed. Due to its strong presence in the market, numerous other software integrations have been developed, which make it even more appealing. The product is secure, therefore there is no need to worry about the formulas failing when arranged in a different method.
Cons
The software is so complex and full of features that we havent been able to fully utilize it to date. No matter how much time we spent, we ended up with overly complicated shortcuts, which is still a waste of time.

Solid, reliable, and flexible estimation tool
Solid, reliable, and flexible estimation tool
Pros
What I found to be the most interesting feature about this estimation software is that it allows me to break down an estimate in a virtually unlimited number of ways. This has allowed both corporate-level breakdowns and much more complex breakdowns at the same time. Multiple departments from my company have often collaborated with each other to quickly finish the biggest estimates.
Cons
It still doesnt allow us to develop a spec-driven takeoff system, and we cannot compare the takeoffs against a standard, which is one of the biggest downsides of the system.
