It's the best open source CMS

Pros

I like how easy it is to edit websites plus the learning curve for our clients is small and it's much safer than Wordpress.

Cons

The eCom part isn't finished yet.

Terrible

Pros

It was free and I got lucky that it didn't cost me anything.

Cons

Tried adding content to the homepage but got a page full of PHP errors. I couldn't figure out how to fix it or even edit the PHP so I just deleted the site and didn't want to start over. We ended up going back to Joomla.

Avoid this one

Pros

Are there any pros? I honestly haven't been able to find any.

Cons

This is more of a web tool than a CMS. Not really worth the money.

Simply Amazing

Pros

The main things I love are content and page management, the flexibility of the block system, page management and the ease of design development.

Cons

I think the docs for the new version still aren't fully done.

The perfect CMS for me over the years

Pros

When I first used it over 10 years ago, CMS platforms were still in their early stages. Concrete5 had the best user interface for managing content. Recently others have tried to replicate it, but they still show their clunky side, unlike Concrete5. I'm impressed by their continuous updates over the years.

Cons

The switch to the latest version was a bit rough since it was a huge update, but it was worth it. Most sites had to start fresh, but the old version still worked, so the disruption wasn't too bad. The user forum needs a revamp, and it could be easier to manage a bunch of sites. Some template designers make it more complicated than it needs to be.

So many great features

Pros

It offers a wide range of features and is easy to customize and extend. Concrete5 serves as a solid framework.

Cons

Not really known in Germany so convincing people it's the right CMS can be tough.

Amazing tool for a better web experience

Pros

It's super easy to install, configure and customize, with lots of add-ons and themes. The community is great for support when needed. The tons of add-ons make it a great software!

Cons

Customizing themes on the core system is limited, and there aren't many themes available in the marketplace.

Seamless CMS

Pros

Concrete5 allows you to set up templated site frameworks or adapt a custom design to an enterprise level CMS. As a developer, it's easy and intuitive to set up. From a user perspective, managing and adding content is much easier than with Wordpress. It's also great at preventing security issues, and site backups and restores are straightforward.

Cons

There's sometimes a lag between updates to the software and PHP. Like Wordpress, a lot of functionality depends on plugins made by independent developers. When PHP gets updated by hosting services, plugins don't always keep up, leaving you scrambling to fix things or waiting for an update.

Incredible CMS, user-friendly for both developers and admins

Pros

As a dev, the Page object (combined with page attributes, nav menus, and page lists) makes structuring websites or web apps seamless. The separation of page templates from page types is helpful, as templates focus on layout and types are more conceptual. As an admin, you get as much control as developers allow. The versioning system lets admins roll back changes and work on edits before publishing. The permissions system is highly customizable, and the attributes system lets you assign custom properties to pages, files and users.

Cons

It doesn't have a REST API to use as a headless CMS (though that might change soon). No easy way to integrate React or Vue components. There's no equivalent of WordPress's "repeater" fields for adding endless lists of attributes.

Quick to set up, looks great, and is very easy to use

Pros

Its ease of use and high quality design are what I like the most. It has just enough add-ons to make everything work as it should and the community is always there for support. Since it's open source, you can make changes or create your own add-ons when needed.

Cons

The add ons marketplace is smaller compared to Wordpress, but Concrete5 is growing quickly, so this will be less of an issue. The add ons available are high quality.

Simple, easy to modify, and modern

Pros

I love its versatility with blocks, stacks, add ons, file sets and tree links. It really sparks my creative side!

Cons

Documentation is a bit lacking. It's mostly easy, but I still needed to go through some tutorials to fully get the hang of it.

Such a powerful yet easy to use software

Pros

Concrete5 delivers a complete content management system with WYSIWYG editing, forms, etc., without the need for extra extensions. It also provides a modern PHP framework for further development and the marketplace offers a range of useful AddOn components.

Cons

The documentation's been criticized but they're improving it over time.

A bit resource-heavy but works just perfect

Pros

Concrete5 is easy to install and highly extensible. It offers a variety of themes to customize your site's appearance.

Cons

It's a bit resource heavy I think. If there's a configuration error, you might need to roll back to a previous backup. Some old extensions on the marketplace aren't compatible with the current version and it's not always clear which version they're for.

Outdated

Pros

When we first built our website with Concrete5, we were thrilled. It was a major upgrade from our old site. It allowed us to easily make updates and changes, the site looked great, was mobile-responsive (though with a few issues), and supported plug-ins for the additional features we needed.

Cons

Our site was built on a version that was about to become outdated, which we didn't know at the time. I'm not sure if the vendor who built the site knew either. After spending a lot of money, it expired in 2019 and we had no choice but to start over, which cost our organization a lot of money.

Pros

Concrete5 is written by people who love clean, secure code. If you need to write your own PHP code, C5 is the most solid and affordable option out there.

The marketplace is smaller compared to WordPress.

Strong, flexible, and user-friendly

Pros

Concrete5 is perfect for everything, from simple websites to complex custom applications. The peer-reviewed marketplace provides out-of-the-box solutions that save a lot of time and money. There are many free add-ons available. The community support is fantastic, and it even offers an e-commerce solution that's robust and free of monthly fees (it's the best e-commerce package I've found). Sites can be deployed quickly at a low cost, and end-users can be trained in minutes, not hours. It's secure, with detailed permission controls, and can support multiple languages. Both self-hosted and Concrete5-hosted options are available, and maintenance is easy to manage at the user level. Concrete5 is the ideal blend of power and ease of use, making it perfect for quick, cost-effective site deployments.

Cons

There is a learning curve, and the tech behind it has gotten more complex over the years. It's still manageable for people with less technical knowledge but like with any CMS, there are occasional challenges.
