What Is MessageKite?
MessageKite is a cloud-based business desktop texting app built to streamline front-desk communication for small and mid-sized businesses. It enables teams to send and receive two-way text messages from their existing business number, automate appointment reminders, and engage customers through scheduled messaging. By reducing reliance on phone calls and emails, it helps businesses cut response times and improve customer engagement.
MessageKite Pricing
The software operates on a credit-based pricing model. Each credit equals one inbound or outbound SMS message (MMS messages cost 2 credits). A free trial is available; every new account starts with 50 free credits. Tier details are as follows:
- Tier 1 - $25
- Tier 2 - $45
- Tier 3 - $80
As per our estimate, the MessageKite cost falls between $15 and $50+/month, according to official pricing information and industry benchmarks for similar SMB business texting platforms. This range is intended for general budgeting purposes, as actual costs can vary based on messaging volume (credit usage), number of contacts, selected features (such as group messaging, scheduling, and AI chatbot MiiA), and overall communication needs.
In addition to the base usage costs, organizations should account for the following potential expenses:•
- Messaging Credits (Usage Costs): Variable; increases with SMS/MMS volume and MMS requires higher credit usage
- Setup & Onboarding: Typically minimal to moderate depending on account configuration and contact list setup
- Advanced Feature Usage: Costs may increase with higher use of automation tools such as autoresponders, templates, and the after-hours chatbot (MiiA)
- Integration & Workflow Setup: Additional costs may apply for connecting CRM systems or customizing workflows, depending on business requirements
Disclaimer: The pricing is subject to change.

MessageKite Features
Text And Picture Messaging
MessageKite allows businesses to send and receive both text and picture messages directly from a desktop, using an existing business phone number. This keeps communication personal and traceable, turning customer interactions into ongoing, documented conversations that strengthen relationships over time.
Scheduling And Automated Reminders
Front office teams can schedule messages in advance and automate appointment reminders and confirmations, eliminating repetitive manual follow-ups. Staff can also send payment prompts via text, freeing up time previously spent on phone calls and reducing the likelihood of no-shows or missed deadlines.
Group And Mass Texting
MessageKite enables businesses to broadcast messages to multiple contacts simultaneously — including customers, staff, and vendors — with a reported 95% visibility rate. This is especially valuable for time-sensitive announcements such as emergency closures, service disruptions, or operational updates.
After-Hours Chatbot (MiiA)
MiiA is MessageKite's built-in after-hours chatbot that automatically informs customers when the business is closed and prompts them to indicate whether their inquiry is urgent. If urgency is confirmed, the message is immediately forwarded to the appropriate team member, ensuring no opportunity is missed outside business hours.

“handy reminders and simple setup”
Pros
I found getting started with it easy and sending appointment reminders has been really helpful for me.
Cons
I do wish it had a dedicated mobile app. It would be much more convenient to access on my phone after hours or on weekends since I don't always catch the alerts when they only come through email.

“Clean browser interface”
Pros
Browser version has a clean interface and is simple to navigate. Sometimes messages arrive later than expected or vanish from the text box but overall I find it easy to use.
Cons
Mobile site really needs work. A dedicated app with push notifications, more like getting a text message, would be a big improvement and would make things much better for business owners.

“flexible access and strong search”
Pros
Being able to use it on different computers and mobile devices at the same time has been really convenient for me. The software keeps message history, the search feature works very well and I also appreciate the mass/group messaging and photo-sending options.
Cons
Only thing I'd improve is the search in message history since it could be a bit faster.
