“interactive presentations for class

Pros

One feature I have enjoyed most is the draggable elements option. As it lets both my students and me move items around even while the presentation is running which makes lessons much more interactive.

Cons

The part that has been the most frustrating in it is the user interface. As it is fairly hard to navigate and locating the interactions doesn't come across as user friendly to me.

Pros

After trying the paid plan for a week, I honestly couldn't find any real benefit in it. As nothing in the tool felt particularly useful or effective during that time.

Cons

paid plan just doesn't deliver much value. Also the animation features are not good to work with and overall I wouldn't recommend using it right now.

Genially helps you create interactive, eye-catching educational content. Plus it makes training sessions, quizzes and presentations much more dynamic.

Cons

Interface takes some getting used to, a number of advanced features are restricted in the free version and heavier projects can become slow.

I have not actually used the software, so I cannot really comment on that.

The customer service and communication are terrible. You often wait weeks for a reply, if you can reach them at all. I subscribed in November 2023, then realized it was not for me, so I canceled to stop it from renewing. Even so they still mistakenly charged me $250. Later they admitted that I had canceled but they still have not refunded my money. They just keep making excuses. I want my money back and I want nothing more to do with this company.

At this point I do not really see any advantages anymore especially now that I know no one replies when you send an email to support.

Cons

Well lack of response from your team really hurts the customer relationship and shows you don't care about users. Also the software is not accessible as navigation is very hard and finding information inside a Genially presentation is complicated.

It looks like the platform has some useful tools for digital publishing.

Cons

The subscription setup feels misleading because most plans are really annual commitments. As they show the cost as a monthly breakdown but they do not clearly tell you upfront that you will be charged for the full year immediately.

Pros

The colorful game templates are a big plus. There are plenty of gamification options to work with which makes it possible to get really creative and customize activities around students needs. It feels a lot like Canva but built for gamification.

One frustrating part has been the communication during the holiday season. As I have been trying to upgrade my account to the Author subscription at the Black Friday price and even though they said it could be done, I still have not heard back.

“Freezes which is annoying

I do like the style of the platform and the way it presents ideas and templates.

Cons

The site has been having several issues. Like I used to have no trouble logging in or creating a presentation but now once I reach the dashboard, it just freezes and won't let me do anything. Let me tell you that my internet connection is fine and this doesn't happen with other websites.

It is pretty easy to use and I really appreciate being able to insert media while also having control over how people move through the pages.

In some exercises, I can only add one item at a time which is a major limitation.

I did not even get far enough to evaluate any of those points.

The support was laughably bad. Also because of technical limits, the product cannot be embedded into my page builder, Oxygen so it is completely useless for me. Plus I contacted support to ask for a refund for my paid premium subscription. Instead of a refund they only offered to switch me to a cheaper plan. I replied that this was not a solution as I still wouldn't be able to use the product on any plan and I clearly asked to cancel my subscription. After that I never got another response. In the end I paid 90 euros for nothing and could not even get a proper reply. Needless to say, I would not recommend this product to anyone. Thanks for nothing.

It lets us present content in ways that go beyond the usual slideshow format, create escape rooms and quizzes and also make use of AI features.

Cons

As a teacher I use the free version but in other contexts not everyone can afford to pay for it.

Genially is simple to use and you can create multiple projects without much trouble.

The biggest problem is that my work does not actually stay saved. Even when I save the changes before leaving, they're gone when I come back. I am tired of having to redo everything.

The content I create with Genially really helps my students stay focused. That's mostly because it is interactive, has bright visuals and produces high quality results.

At this point I honestly haven't come across any downsides. That may also be because I am very motivated and enthusiastic about using the tool.

There are lots of templates available in different styles which gives us plenty of variety to work with. Also it is possible to create colorful, engaging presentations with animations and you can download them as PDF or JPG files. You can also share them through an online or offline link so the animations can still be viewed and having the option to password-protect presentations is really useful.

Cons

Interactive PDFs have not worked properly for me. Also a large number of the templates are geared toward teachers, so there are fewer suitable options when creating content for adults.

When it comes to creating infographics, Genially is really excellent!

I was happy with everything in it. So there is nothing I can really criticize.

I love how flexible it is. Plus being able to play around with shapes and colors, insert videos, sounds and different elements, then move, arrange and resize everything however I want gives me a lot of creative freedom.

The only downside is that image handling feels somewhat limited.

Customizing the built-in presentation templates or creating one from scratch is really easy. Also there are plenty of interactive and multimedia features which make presentations feel much more engaging than a standard slideshow. And since it is co-funded by the EU, it also seems more aligned with EU data protection requirements than many other platforms. Even with minimal effort, the end result can look very detailed and polished.

Sometimes the sheer number of available options can feel a bit overwhelming.

The best part is how much freedom it gives you to add different options and it is way too easy to use. Even someone with no experience can pick it up and use it naturally without much effort. Also it was adopted very quickly across all our departments which shows how accessible it is for different kinds of users.

Cons

One issue I'd mention is that when you create content under one account and then share it with other accounts, you're really only sharing access to use it. If the original account deletes that content, everyone else loses it too. That can cause problems at times and it would be much better if content could be copied from one account to another without those limitations.

I really have not run into any issues. It has improved a lot over the years and the updates seem to have fixed any problems it may have had in the beginning.

Genially is an outstanding and comprehensive tool for interactive visual communication. This online platform offers extremely rich content and a very appealing interface, making it possible to create original infographics and presentations, as well as animated interactive images for training sessions and escape games. On top of that it includes hundreds of customizable templates which makes the software not only highly capable but also very beginner friendly by giving users plenty of options. Another strong point is the variety of sharing methods available. Which means creations can be exported as PDF, in HTML or embedded with code. Finally it has built a large user community which is a valuable source of support when creating your own content.

Cons

Aside from a few very occasional network interruptions, I really have nothing negative to say about this software.

Nothing major comes to mind. The platform is user friendly for building what we need and the templates make getting started much easier. Without them, the starting point could feel a bit more complicated.

It is a very engaging tool to use in class and really captures the students interest.

Well it is a shame the guides aren't available in Dutch. If they were, I could use many more of your features and tools. Right now that often makes things difficult.

It's really strong when it comes to customization, building presentations and storing content and images. Also there are plenty of elements available to personalize projects and animate data and being able to collaborate online with other people is a very useful feature.

Well it is not very user friendly so making presentations is not easy for a beginner. Also it does not work with Excel which most companies use regularly. On top of that it is expensive.

This has become an essential classroom tool for me especially during English lessons because it helps turn them into interactive sessions that are much more enjoyable for students.

Using it is easy and the design looks great too. Also the interface is clean and simple like no clutter, no ads and no unnecessary features. It even offers lots of content including an image library, vector shapes, editable diagrams and modern, professional presentation templates that are updated regularly. Another big plus is that presentations save automatically after each action without slowing you down. You can also export a project as PDF or HTML for offline use or embed it on a website using embed code, social media and more. Honestly it is excellent.

There is very little to complain about, aside from the occasional network interruption probably linked to system updates. Even then it has not affected my work at all and nothing was lost.

Across our organization Genially has been useful in a lot of different ways. It lets us add interactive elements and content layers that help hold people's attention through a more story-driven style, all without needing any programming skills. We can also include audio and video without any trouble which gives our presentations more reach and impact. Plus it's helpful that we can add buttons for the main social networks or simply share the link by email, so everything stays accessible from one place.

Cons

It would be really nice if the free version included more templates that could be downloaded and used. It also depends heavily on having an internet connection and access to templates is tied to the plan you pay for. Though the animation area is genuinely very good but other tools like Powtoon seem to have gone a bit further when it comes to interactive video-style presentation handling.

After using this software for a long time, I have watched it add more sections and features over time which is why it has become my favorite. The way it can be embedded into an educational platform is also incredible and really adds a lot of value.

When it comes to using gamification in learning, this is probably the strongest tool I have seen. It offers several attractive themed templates to work with and the escape room options are especially fun and engaging for students. On top of that the media library is rich, with a wide variety of background images to choose from. The animation features also play a big role in building interactive materials. Overall I honestly do not think there is another platform out there that delivers this same level of gamified lessons.

I do not really have any major complaints. If I had to mention one thing, it would be the absence of real-time collaboration which is something I wish Genially included.

Able to put together professional-looking visual content quickly is the biggest benefit for me and it makes my presentations much more engaging and enjoyable.

To me the features are already good enough because the whole point is to work fast and keep things simple. If it had much more, we would probably need a more technical tool and that would just make things more complicated. The only thing I still miss is the ability to collaborate with teammates on projects. So that would be a really nice addition.

Genially really gives me plenty of room to be creative and bring ideas to life, then publish them without any hassle.

I'd still love to see more white-label options on their own server especially a white-label URL feature so I wouldn't need to move content over to my own site.
