“Deserves way more credit”
Pros
Out of all the editing tools I have tried Sony Vegas stands out for how fast and smooth it is when cutting clips and making raw edits. The velocity curve tool is top notch. What I love most is how easy it is to use and despite being a consumer-focused program, it offers more control than basic editors like the one on Windows but it is still easier to learn than professional studio software. Also it is affordable and has a strong community which makes the learning curve much easier.
Cons
The built in effects and transitions are not extensive which can be a bit limiting. But you can always add third party plugins to make up for it but honestly the available tools seem more customized for YouTubers and casual creators to me than high-end CGI film production.

“It totally outshines Adobe”
Pros
Using Vegas is not a problem as it is pretty basic and is really beginner friendly. I was already editing within half an hour of starting and barely had to search online for help.
Cons
It is kind of disappointing that more users and companies have not adopted it as I feel like it deserves to be more mainstream than it currently is.

“works well for all sorts of projects”
Pros
Vegas Pro works great for someone like me who does not have advanced editing skills. With its default setup I was able to start editing right away without needing to dive deep into tutorials. And it is even easier if you have used other semi complex creative software before.
Cons
The effects can be tough to figure out as they are not exactly beginner friendly. I have had to look up tutorials just to do basic things. Resizing images gets tricky too especially when they are all different dimensions. And the text tool feels a bit clunky but it's actually easier sometimes to create the text in another program and just overlay it.

“Nothing else beats this for editing”
Pros
It is versatile, the interface is clean and easy to use and there is a strong community backing it. Plus the range of features and content available is pretty impressive.
Cons
Some of the tools use pretty technical language which can feel confusing if I am not already familiar with editing terms.

“Takes some learning but worth it”
Pros
There are plenty of rendering options and once you get the hang of it, it is quick and easy to use. The effects are great too and with a bit of practice, it becomes really precise and efficient for me to work with.
Cons
For someone just starting out it is a bit overwhelming. A lot of the shortcuts are not explained clearly so we end up digging through menus just to figure things out.

“easy to use and professional”
Pros
My experience with Vegas has been simply amazing as it is simple to use, practical and delivers everything I need without complication.
Cons
The file sizes can get huge as there is a lot to download and store but honestly the software makes it worth dealing with.

“Good but could be a lot better”
Pros
What I enjoy the most is how easy it is to bring in media, trim or splice clips and how all the shortcut keys speed up everything once you get used to them. Overall it really streamlines the process.
Cons
One thing I struggle with the most is how complicated keyframing can get as trying to animate movement across multiple parameters like position and rotation at the same time takes a while to learn. Also it eats up a lot of processing power which makes multitasking with other programs nearly impossible on my machine.

“One-stop spot for both editing jobs”
Pros
I started using it in the 90s for audio editing because the timeline was so easy to work with. Later on I moved to video editing with the same software and that is what I love about it. I can handle both sound and visuals in one place without switching tools.
Cons
If you are not familiar with video formats, resolution settings, frame rates and codecs, exporting can be a bit of a nightmare. And it is definitely not aimed at people who want a one-click export. Also it only works on Windows which is limiting if you are on another system.

“If you want stunning videos, this is it”
Pros
The multi cam feature is awesome. When you have got footage from different angles, syncing is become a simple task. Plus Vegas puts everything on one timeline and switching between views is just one click away which is pretty convenient.
Cons
This software is very powerful, no doubt but if I had to point out a downside, it would be the limited render filter options and the clunky text features. As I feel like they could be more user friendly. Also it would be helpful to have built in tips or shortcut reminders to guide you while you work.

“My all time favorite for editing”
Pros
It was really beginner friendly. This was the software that introduced me to editing and after watching a couple tutorials I was able to put together my first video within an hour of installing it.
Cons
I started using it because I wanted to take things up a notch like exploring more advanced tools and combining it with other software in my editing workflow. Overall it worked fine for me.

“A professional tool but still easy to use”
Pros
Personally I really enjoy playing around with the built-in transitions and the video stabilization as both are pretty useful and well executed.
Cons
The price feels a little high for what you are getting and I did run into a few bugs during the export process which was frustrating.

“Perfect swap if you want to try something new”
Pros
Vegas Pro works for everyone whether you are a beginner, hobbyist or pro. I would say it is a strong alternative to those overly complex editing programs. In just a few days you will get comfortable with all the features it offers.
Cons
Everything is laid out on the main panel and at first it feels kind of messy but after a bit of use, the logic behind the layout becomes clearer.

“This app is good”
Pros
The interface is really pleasant and easy to navigate. The built in effects and tools feel polished and everything works pretty well once I get started.
Cons
There are a few features missing and I will say it can definitely feel overwhelming at first if you are new to this kind of software.

“I like using it”
Pros
One thing I liked was how it automatically loaded all the VST plugins I needed for both audio and video. Overall it saved me a lot of setup time.
Cons
Rendering can take a really long time as in some cases I have had to wait several hours or even a whole day just to get a video finished.

“Works great unless you are on a Mac”
Pros
It is a solid and stable program. If you take the time to really learn it and practice consistently it has serious potential. I especially liked how reliable the video export process is like very smooth.
Cons
Compared to some of the competing tools out there it is a bit more expensive. And to really get the hang of it you need to put in a lot more practice as it is not as user friendly as other programs I have tried.
