“always-on access to patient info”
Pros
Athenaone has been really helpful for me because it lets me access my doctor and patient information anytime I need it. I also appreciate that it keeps everything in one place so I'm not hunting for details when I'm trying to stay on top of appointments or records.
Cons
I mainly use Athenaone with a few different doctors. A lot of them let me message them through the system but some don't which is a bit inconsistent. I'd like the messaging feature to be consistent across all my providers.

“Athena updates keep it organized”
Pros
Athena has received a few updates that make a service that was already user-friendly even more comfortable to use. Everything is laid out in one place so I'm not wasting time digging through menus or searching for what I need.
Cons
The one downside is that certain exams I run don't always line up with the codes based on what I select. Still, it's a simple click to add the right items when that happens.

“clean interface”
Pros
The app's interface is refreshingly simple-nothing feels overwhelming. The navigation is clear with tabs like "Home, Appointment, Billing & Payments, Messages, My Health and Test Results," which makes it easy to use even for someone like my mom, who struggles with technology. Messaging is also simple to send and receive. No bugs or glitches popped up for me and paying bills through it has been noticeably convenient. I also really like that test results and medical records, including the shot record, are all available in one system.
Cons
One concern is that athenaOne doesn't include default Multifactor Authentication. Since it holds sensitive medical information, it feels like MFA should be standard. There is a setting you can turn on to enable it but it still feels a bit tedious. Setup was confusing at the start though it was manageable once I got through the initial steps.

“fast test results”
Pros
AthenaOne moves quickly when it comes to posting test results and visit notes so patients can review everything and follow up with their provider right away.
Cons
No negative issues have come up for me so far which only adds to the trust I feel in the application.

“very easy to use”
Pros
I've noticed a number of updates to Athena that have taken an already user-friendly program and made it even easier to use. Everything is centralized now so I no longer have to hunt around to find what I need.
Cons
The only drawback is that a few of the exams I perform don't automatically match the appropriate codes based on my selection, although it only takes a quick click for me to add the correct one.

“Simple interface”
Pros
Appreciate how simple the interface is. It never feels overwhelming and the distinct tabs like Home, Appointment, Billing & Payments, Messages, My Health and Test Results make it very approachable even for people who struggle with technology for example my mom finds it easy to use. Messaging back and forth is simple, although I'd prefer messages to come directly into my phone's native text messages. Overall, I haven't run into any bugs or issues and handling tasks such as paying bills is really simple. It's also handy that test results and medical records (including immunization records) are all available in one place
Cons
One thing that bothers me is that Multifactor Authentication isn't enabled by default which feels like a gap for a healthcare app storing sensitive medical data. There is at least a toggle in the settings to turn it on but having to enable it manually feels a bit annoying. Also the initial setup was somewhat confusing at first, though I managed to get through it without too much trouble.

“centralized solution”
Pros
For me, the best part about it is being able to keep my billing, schedule and chart open simultaneously so I can multitask and get through my daily work.
Cons
What I dislike most is that it can take a long time to open anything and sometimes it freezes when I'm trying to access the documents I need.

“Quick to post results”
Pros
I've noticed it posts lab results and visit notes very rapidly so I can look them over and discuss them with my provider promptly.
Cons
Thankfully I have not run into any issues that I could report negatively and that lack of problems genuinely increases the level of trust I have in this application.

“Excellent software!”
Pros
it has solid clinical workflows and the automation really helps with everyday tasks. The scheduling, charting and billing modules are integrated in a way that feels cohesive so there's less admin work weighing down the team and patient visits tend to keep moving at a steady pace.
Cons
A few areas of the interface can come off a bit cluttered and some actions require more clicks than I expected. The reporting side is powerful but it's not always the most adaptive which means it can take a little time to figure out how to pull the exact data you need. Pricing is also on the expensive side.

“it makes billing simple”
Pros
Using AthenaOne for my doctor's office has been really simple. I'm able to jump back in and read the doctor's notes whenever I need them, print any excuse letters I might require and review my bills-all from one platform. Paying is also handled in the same place which saves a lot of time.
Cons
Honestly, there isn't anything I want changed. Everything about AthenaOne has been working well and I hope they keep it exactly the way it is.

“Support delays and hard communication”
Pros
Athena definitely covers the full range of features a private practice EMR should have. You get solid reporting options (including running reports and building your own), care management tools and the system is designed to interface with other companies without too much hassle.
Cons
Whenever I run into a problem or need help using one of Athena's features, the process turns into creating a case with CSC. That support workflow is painfully slow-one question can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes to resolve and sometimes it doesn't get solved at all. Other times they escalate it to their internal team and it takes about 7-10 days to hear back. To make things even harder, CSC is outsourced overseas so the English can be rough and a lot of the time it's hard to understand what they're saying.

“weekly performance bugs”
Pros
This setup seems to hit big performance problems on a weekly basis. When I try using it, it often throws complaints about functions that aren't working as expected.
Cons
There are a lot of bugs that need attention. Each week, my practice ends up feeling seriously slow and some of the key functionality just doesn't work properly.

“unreliable with constant performance breakdowns!”
Pros
We face significant and recurring performance breakdowns with this system on a weekly basis. It's reached a point where my boss regularly voices frustration over core features that frequently become unresponsive or fail without warning, which directly hinders our team's productivity and reliability.
Cons
There are just too many bugs that need to be fixed. Every single week, my practice has to deal with the system being really slow and things just not working like they're supposed to.

“lets me read doctor notes easily!”
Pros
Found this doctor's-office-based platform incredibly easy to use. What I really like is that I can revisit and read the doctor's notes, print any doctors' excuses I need, look over my bills and pay everything from the same place without any issues.
Cons
I love pretty much every aspect of it and I hope they keep it exactly as it is.

“Poor customer service”
Pros
I've found that it really packs everything a private-practice EMR should have, from built-in reporting and the ability to design my own reports to care management tools and it also connects fairly easily with other companies' systems.
Cons
Whenever I need help or have an issue with one of it's features, I'm required to open a case with their CSC and it can be frustrating. The support team rarely feels helpful and even getting a straight answer to a single question can take 10-30 minutes if it's resolved at all. More often than not my problem gets escalated internally and I'm told someone will follow up in 7-10 days. It doesn't help that the entire CSC is staffed offshore, their spoken English is often poor and half the time I struggle to understand what they're saying.

“top-notch scheduling and support”
Pros
Appointment scheduling and the overall user interface are genuinely top quality here. I also really appreciate how fast the product improves and how quickly customers can get up and running with the online appointment scheduling. Customer support has been fantastic as well.
Cons
Occasionally, the bugs or problems that come with website improvements can feel a bit tiring. There were moments when it took some time for those bugs and issues to get fixed.

“billing failures”
Pros
The practice management software works fairly well overall. It isn't as flashy or polished as many other options but that simpler approach seems to help it perform faster even on slower internet connections.
Cons
Billing has been a nightmare. Claims get held, there's no follow-up and then the company often responds by saying it's not their responsibility. They also don't forward communications from Medicare auditors and recovery agencies sent to the Athena billing address in Maine. This keeps happening making the whole claims process unreliable.

I love the appointment scheduling in this product. The interface is so user friendly and it's so quick and easy for my customers to use the online booking. The customer support is also fantastic.

“worst experience! Billing doesn't work”
Pros
The constant breakdowns have severely impacted our team's productivity and drawn ongoing complaints from management
Cons
The billing is horrible. They hold onto claims and never follow up on them. Then they just say it's not their job. They also don't forward important messages from Medicare auditors that get sent to their billing address in Maine. This keeps happening over and over.
