Easy for charts, slow on results

Pros

I found the system very easy to use for handling patient charts and managing the schedule.

Cons

Sometimes I couldn't see my own medical records or test results until after my doctor had officially signed off on them.

Simple billing, difficult support and transfers

Pros

I was really impressed with how simple it was to put in patient details, accept payments and submit insurance claims.

Cons

I found it difficult to get in touch with customer service when I needed help. Also, I wasn't able to transfer my medical records all at once. I had to do them one by one.

Not for doctors, worst experience ever!

Pros

I liked how it had all the pharmacy dosages and quantities for a drug and how it tells you if a medication is covered or not. but this is my seventh EMR and it's one of the worst I've ever used. It takes so many clicks to get anything done and the phone and tablet app is even worse. I would stay away from this at all costs. I feel like this program is designed to capture data so they can sell it later. It's just not designed for actual documentation or for physicians to use.

Cons

I have a problem with almost every other part of this EMR. Just compare the CPT code lookup to any other system out there and you'll see it's horrible. And I mean horrible. It takes more than twice as long to get anything done and the number of clicks is overwhelming. Sometimes you'll close a task and it just comes right back to you. All the training is online and the videos take forever to get to the point.

simplifies tasks, accessible anywhere

Pros

It simplifies tasks like scheduling, billing and documentation which really cuts down on my manual work. I love that I can access patient records from anywhere, it gives me so much flexibility. The interface is user-friendly and they're always making improvements and updates to keep up with the industry.

Cons

Nothing! I like it very much and that's why we've been using it for the last 8 years.

Simple interface

Pros

The interface is super simple to use and whenever I run into any issues, the support team is always quick to help and really responsive.

Cons

The home page can feel really overwhelming and I find it kind of difficult to navigate at times.

Perfect for handling payments with precision

Pros

It's awesome for looking up patient info, handling payments, scheduling appointments and keeping track of medical records. It really covers everything I need.

Cons

I wish there were more options for uploading documents. Other than that I haven't really found any other downsides.

Quick & easy access

Pros

I really appreciate that it keeps the accounts for each provider separate when using the portal. Makes everything a lot more organized.

Cons

It's annoying that the records don't sync across providers when I log in through the generic portal. That's definitely a drawback.

Good visuals, cumbersome processes

Nice to look at and learn

Pros

I think Athena is very visually appealing and I didn't struggle at all with learning how to use it.

Cons

At the time, it wasn't very user-friendly. It also wasn't very patient-friendly for logging in and out of the portal.

Definitely 5 stars from me

Pros

Honestly It is hands down the best I've ever used. I've been working in Medical Administration for over 30 years and this is by far my favorite. What I love the most is that when a patient sends a message, I can add who they want to speak with and it keeps a full trail of everyone they've spoken to and whether or not they were taken care of.

Cons

At first I had a hard time learning Athena. I'd say this was more about the training, though. Once the right training is in place, it becomes a lot more efficient.

Community for mental health

Pros

All-in-one EHR solution

Pros

It was super easy to learn and use. Everything I need for scheduling, medical records and billing is all in one system. plus their customer support is amazing.

Cons

Some of the updates don't always seem to make sense for everyone, so it can be frustrating at times.

Smooth communication

Pros

Athena is the best platform for community health resources in my city. It's been a great tool for smooth communication with my providers.

Cons

Athena really seems to dominate the community health field here in my area. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing but it's definitely the most popular software around the Pacific Northwest.

Highly effective medical software

Pros

I seriously couldn't do what I do without Athena. My company started about five years ago with zero patients. Now we have over 8600 patients! As a solo practitioner with a team of 20, we're able to take care of our community and it's all because of the support It gives us.

Cons

I don't have major issues with Athena but my practice is pretty extensive with a lot of billing items like EKGs, ABI tests, and diabetic retinal exams. Sometimes my billing department gets bogged down because the answers from Athena's support team aren't always as detailed as we need. I think it's because we require a bit more than the average practice though. My practice manager could explain this better.

Grateful for Athena in my practice

Pros

I absolutely love Athena! They really dig deep into claims and have a great customer success team that helps solve any questions I have. My client success manager is wonderful and they're always coming up with innovative solutions and tools.

Cons

I can't think of any real issues. The only downside is the process of transferring data from one system to another. But that's pretty much standard with any EMR system. When our clinic launched, the data transfer process was time-consuming but Athena made it as easy as possible and I'm thankful we did it early on because I only had a year's worth of data to move.

Love having easy access to my medical records

Pros

I like having easy access to my chart and lab results. It makes things so much easier to keep track of.

Cons

I did have trouble getting tech support when I needed it which was pretty frustrating.
